Nice property, great location, ridiculous resort fees and taxes. The resort fee plus all the tourism/California taxes will add almost $100/night to your room. Why do we let businesses and the government add 30% hidden surcharges to everything? Why even have a "room rate"? It's dishonest. Why not 50%? I'd complain less if it were baked into the price to show that a $285 room is really a $375 room. Fine if you're rich and prices don't matter, but 30% variability is not acceptable and the entire practice of resort fees should be illegal. The "let them eat cake" attitude of this country can't last. read more

Amazing stay during the kid's spring break. Hotel had a ton of amenities like the pool, game room, pool table, and beachside service. Staff was professional and friendly. Rooms and hotel areas were extremely clean and fresh. Food options were good as well with the poolside service and great breakfast. Was thoroughly impressed. read more

A Friend & myself stopped in to see this new resort & have a nosh . We went up to the third floor to the restaurant by the pool . Very nice ! We decided to eat by the pool & they accommodated us . We ordered the Nachos & the Dungeness crab roll . My friend had a mai tai & I had a coke . The Nachos were served first & I must say I was taken aback by the presentation ! Lack luster & sloppy ! But they turned out surprisingly delicious ! We ate them all ! Then we split the crab roll which came with fries ( which were cold) . The bread on the roll was very fresh but at $38 MKT price on crab , I want to taste the crab not the mayonnaise mess you mixed it with ! I don't recommend this item at all . Recently stayed here celebrating an anniversary. On check-in we were greeted by Diana who was amazing. She was very informative and made us feel special. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We had massages at the spa and it was so tranquil and everyone was so kind and helpful. Overall our stay was excellent and would definitely come back. I cannot say enough about this beautiful, well-appointed, gorgeous, perfectly located resort. It sits across the street from the beach and there are more farm-to-table restaurants literally within walking distance than you can visit in a week full of lunches and dinners. We never ate breakfast anywhere else than The Piper restaurant on the first floor of The Seabird! Those breakfasts were a great motivation to get out of bed each morning. We met the most lovely people at The Piper, including Angelica on our first visit last November, and then Odessa this past July. It's not often you hug your server when you leave for the final morning but it truly was hard to say goodbye. The lobby is so beautiful and airy, the staff was helpful, patient, and attentive. We enjoyed cocktails right outside the lobby sometimes to watch the sunset and sometimes just before retiring for the night. We brought our entire family of thirteen people, including three young grandkids and two babies under one. Our rooms looked out at the ocean and were so beautifully appointed. We almost never got in our cars to go anywhere, even whale-watching off the harbor was only one mile away. We would recommend this lovely resort to anyone visiting Oceanside! this review pains me....... the price of the room is very high. they will then charge you a destination charge 42.00 which they will add tax too 3 different times. if you eat at pool it will be surcharged, and tipped automatically and then a shelter club all day tax... no clue what that is.... and the pool food and drink is very average at best. Hyatt business policies have a lot to be desired and only remove your money in shady manner and mostly make you NOT feel like guest. we took the train so we missed the insane valet fees. The hotel itself is great, and the staff were real friendly. just know the total price of your nightly stay will be much higher after all is said and done. sorry to say we will not be back. we like to feel like a guest not a $ sign. read more

The reason why I am giving this hotel a one star is simply because of the unprofessional customer service I received from front desk employee SIERRA. I was trying to cancel a reservation at Piper and she was rude with a snooty attitude. She told me "I'm just the front desk person and it's not guaranteed your reservation will get canceled". I asked to speak with the Manager on duty and was placed on hold for 13 minutes. I have dined at Piper in the past and while the service was good, I don't know if I will return or stay at the hotel again, simply because SIERRA. Unfortunately, all it takes is one bad experience and the rude conversation with SIERRA did it for me. read more

Great addition to Oceanside. The rooms are nice and the views are great. The hotel is also walking distance to many restaurants and the train station (90 minute ride to/from San Diego). The staff really care about the experience of their guests. The bartenders inside their poolside bar, The Shelter Club were all great and very welcoming. If you go during mid-November or December, the property is decorated for Christmas and they do a great job. Security was present which was nice. Some areas around Oceanside do have some transients and people who can make you feel uncomfortable, so just be careful at night. The area around the hotels are relatively safe though. Our TV didn't connect to Chromcast which was annoying and the live TV kept buffering. The restaurant Piper is good, but there are also many other breakfast spots in the area to checkout on your trip. Place is amazing, really no complaints. Only issue is that there are no outlets where you need them, especially in the seagaze room.

This so called resort up charges every item and service, yet the hotel itself is mediocre at best. The room was bare, every snack and beverage is charged. Only items in the bathroom were qtips and cotton balls. No water given either. There are "reusable water bottles" included but to fill up the bottle one has to walk halfway across the floor to a water station in the ice room that dispenses water so incredibly slowly... very frustrating. The worst part is breakfast credit is included in the hotel fee but there is only one restaurant that offers breakfast. Front desk told us their hours were 7-12 but when we arrived at 10:30 we were told the kitchen was so backed up (1-2 hour wait after your order is placed) that they couldn't possibly accommodate any more parties unless you have a reservation. Btw most rooms marketed as ocean view are really facing the pool and to see the ocean you actually need to walk out on the balcony to see a glimpse the ocean. Just not worth the money you paid for. read more

Unfortunately I have to rate this property only 2 stars. Our first visit here 2 months ago was perfect. This visit I did not get the room I paid for and the service is less than par. I booked a 2 queen pool level and was provided with a somewhat semi ocean view. When I asked to move our rooms the hotel staff said they were all booked up. I was able to move only one of my rooms. Then I ordered some items for my room which they said were delivered however we never received them. I guess we were lucky the first visit and out luck has run out. Will not be returning. read more

Very disappointed. Had a fabulous stay last year. Booked the same room 3 months in advance and called frequently to make sure all was good with all staff, only to get here and find our room has been booked . No offer of any consolation: discount, wine anything to compensate my disgusted husband who worked so hard to repeat a great experience. Not sure we will be staying as long as first anticipated. Such a shame management wasn't forthcoming with at the very least an apology for their mistake. So sad. Praying they come forward with something to make us want to either stay or to ever want to come back again ? We'll see! read more

Checked in here for a long weekend with hobby and my one year old and the hotel is gorgeous! We got a partially ocean view room and I asked for a pack and play for daughter. If you get a pack and play I highly recommend bringing your own mattress because what it comes with is like a rock! Not comfortable at all. The bars and restaurants are great however the piper restaurant food portions run on smaller sizes. You can see other people's photos about the breakfast. Now as why 1 star was taken away is because of the following: The bed was way too soft for me and the pillow was SO uncomfortable! It was big and deflated where I had my head but bulging right over my head and I couldn't sleep well. Also there was this flashing light that was turning on and off all night long inside the room which was so annoying. The room doesn't get blacked out completely and the pack and play was so uncomfortable and small. Daughter screamed and cried all night and we decided to come back home the following day to have a better night sleep. Also parking was $44/night and destination fee was $42/night plus a few other things. So keep that in mind when booking. However the hotel is lovely and it is so lively right outside the hotel. I will go back but will take my own pillow. read more

We were very let down. Stayed two nights for New Year's Eve. Sheets were polyester and very synthetic. Me and my sister woke up sweating both nights. We mentioned this to the staff and they changed the sheets, but no change. We had a city view and there was an alarm ringing coming from outside the window on both nights we couldn't sleep. Front desk said they'll tell their manager about it but they didn't do anything. They didn't change our rooms. I wouldn't stay here again. Not worth the price. read more

Don't hesitate just go! This place is enchanting and beautiful and I've been to a lot of hotels. The common areas are beautiful and comfortable and the service was top notch I was actually surprised at how friendly the staff was. They really all went above and beyond to makes us feel welcomed. The amenities were what really made the stay special. The beach trailer/rambler has beach chairs, umbrellas and towels they set up for guests so no lugging all the stuff really feels luxurious. Our room was wonderful very spacious with a balcony and the mattresses were excellent. Walking distance to so many great restaurants! I can't wait to return. read more

Absolutely blown away by this stunning hotel! We watched as it was built and have been anxiously waiting to pop in and check it out. Let me just say that it is one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever seen. The open, airy relaxing vibe is exactly what a vacation should feel like. We greatly enjoyed our stroll through the property and were so impressed with the decor as well as all the open inviting lounging areas. The incredibly friendly staff we interacted with really made our day. The property is gorgeous. The view is breathtaking. The location is just perfect. The ocean and pier are steps away, many restaurants and shops are within a stone's throw. This is a one stop vacation stop and I don't think it could be more perfect. My aunt and our family visited this hotel for her birthday weekend. We tried to make it as amazing as possible, however, things took a horrifying turn when we found disgusting and shocking stains of blood in her room and on her sheets. Her two sons were about to go to sleep after a tiring day at the pool, when we discovered MULTIPLE BLOOD STAINS!! A big stain on the bed sheets, smaller "splatters", and a couple dots and streaks. On the pillow covers, there were huge stains, two big streaks that looked much like finger prints, and some smaller spots on the corner of pillows. It was absolutely disgusting and disappointing. In my room, we found a horrible little bloody booger on our bedsheet. Equally as disappointing and horrible. Im weary of staying in any other "Sea bird" owned hotels and resorts. The ultimate Staycation at a World Class Resort, the Seabird in Oceanside, CA. My wife and I celebrated our Wedding anniversary for two nights and three days in pure luxury. Yes it's new, but the craftsmanship is truly outstanding. Our Ocean View Suite was a wonderful surprise, size and all. We took advantage of some of the new restaurants and bars. All of the staff was more than accommodating with quick greetings and useful suggestions. Across from Oceanside's long Pier and beautiful beach it offers all one could ask for at a Resort. Horrible experience at the Seabird hotel this past weekend. I have my daughter's wedding there andand I encountered so many difficulties especially with my guests, and the bridal group. This hotel staff lacks hospitality training and threatens guests to kick them out if they voice their concerns. Our ballroom for the event was at 85 degrees, guests were very uncomfortable and no one cared to adjust the temperature. Servers were very rude and had attitude all across. I heard from all the guests with so many issues with their rooms, valet, hidden costs and most importantly lack of professionalism. I paid thousands of dollars for the wedding and received the lowest of guest service ever. I requested at the front desk for the manager to contact me and to date no one has bothered to reach out or return the calls. I left several messages with Rebbeca and Jonathan for Mr. Omar the GM to call me and for a week he didn't bother to return my call. I caution you from staying at this hotel. Save your money and go somewhere to be treated respectfully. I have so much regrets given them business. read more

The building and the location are 10 out of 10. Room cleanliness is 10 out of 10. Staff were super rude though. They close the pool kitchen at 5PM (OK) and then we you order food from one of their own restaurants at the adjoining hotel they force you and all of your wet children to leave because no outside food is allowed (even thought there is no inside food available, you are a hotel guest, and the outside food was purchased from the restaurants that are associated with the hotel in neighbor building. Stayed here the night to be near some friends who were in from out of town. First off, the price for the stay was pretty high. We had booked an "ocean view" for $500 a night. It was not full ocean view, we were directly facing their sister property. It had a nice view, but we booked the ocean view rather than partial ocean view for a reason at a higher price. The resort fee and parking fees are in addition to the room rate. If you valet over night its $44 a night, or you can park offsite for a fee but the area is just really sketchy after dark. The room itself was small but beautiful. There is an automatic light in the closet that just kept going on and off all night. Second thing, the noise. The place was so loud! We came in pretty late after going out, about 1130-12 and there were doors slamming and people yelling in the hall literally until 3am. Since the place is dog friendly (for $150), we had our pup with us. Every time a door would slam or person would yell, he would get super agitated and alarmed. Made for a long night. If you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest not getting a room right on Mission rd or Pacific, tons of street noise until very late. Lastly, we stopped at the bar by the pool for a drink. Drinks were good, ambiance was nice. The staff seemed frazzled and all over the place. The appetizer was ok. I don't know that we would return to this property. The place is beautiful, but when you're paying $500-600 a night, we just expected better. read more

This place is amazing. My jaw kept dropping with every turn, new floor and window view! My mom was a guest here so I got to tag along to check out the room and pool while she visited me. Wow. The service they received was great and I wanted to stay in the lobby and pool area lounge all day. We went next door to the Mission Pacific hotel to check out the 6th floor deck and wow...again! The views are magnificent and the vibe was perfect. I'll probably never stay in one as my budget wouldn't allow, but I have to say...it is a true winner! Props to the person who designed the rooms and chose decor and thanks to Oceanside for bringing in two incredible places to enjoy. PS: loved the old framed bathing suits at the pool! read more

My husband and I just stayed at this resort for a couple of days. The resort is nice and decorated very cute. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and have a nice balcony. I did get bit by something while I was in the room (not sure if it was a spider or a mosquito). I only gave it three stars because the pool got dirty in the afternoon and should have been cleaned midday. Also, there was no poolside services (food/drinks) but they prohibited outside food and beverage in the pool area. The hotel was pricey, especially during the week. The front desk staff could be a bit more knowledgeable. We asked a guy at the front desk if there was someplace we could get a cup of coffee and he told us no, not until the morning, we literally walked 20 steps and found a restaurant that was open inside the hotel, we were a bit confused. Lol The hotel is in a cute area with some nice restaurants within walking distance. read more

I love the Hyatt properties. Hyatt treats their loyal customers outstanding!!! We've been to the Mission Pacific, which is sister property here in Oceanside about 6 times. Both properties are fabulous! The sea bird definitely has more children and kid and pet friendly. Mission Pacific is more adult. They both are great and literally right on the water. read more
