Louisiana Crawfish - for those familiar with this delicate freshwater crustacean there's nothing…read morethat compares, these Louisiana farm raised crawfish are the absolute best in class. Breaux Bridge is in the heart of Cajun Country a.k.a. "The Crawfish Capital of the World" and folks around here know their crawfish and they never settle for anything less than the freshest crawfish available with the highest of quality. I often buy these frozen crawfish tails packed in their own fat when traveling through or from Louisiana - these delicious mudbugs usually end up in a black pot of Étouffée or Jambalaya long after the season is over served over white rice or pasta but I've also been known to fry or sauté them and create a delicious crawfish po-boy on a crusty loaf of french bread. There are a number of farmers and processors around the state that provide a high quality product and believe me these guys are at the top of that list. I was raised on these crustaceans so the recipes are forever stored in my brain, but for the novice there are recipes printed on the packaging and the internet can provide an unlimited number of options as well. If you think the price is a little steep here's a factoid for you based on a 15% yield it takes between 6-7 pounds of live crawfish to equal approximately 1 lb. of tail meat now dats a real bargain...

Ambiance: 3/5 Parking is in front and next to the gas station. Once inside, there's table seating inside with ordering done at the front Restrooms could use an upgrade, but help get the job done. Food: 5/5 I looked over the menu and decided to try the Bayou Sampler. Comes with 2PC chicken (your choice dark or white meat or for extra cost can get mixed), red beans & rice, boudin link & biscuit. All had good flavor, except the biscuit, it was ok. Chicken wasn't greasy but moist with flavor. Red beans also very tasty and boudin link just as good. Service: 5/5 The counter server was friendly and so were the cooks, while it did take a while to get my food, it's cooked to order so that's understandable. Once I got my food, I wanted to take a photo and realized that my order was missing the chicken. Thankfully I had not left before checking it (rule of thumb for any to go order, check your food) The counter server was quick to speak to the kitchen and they brought out my full plate in short time.

Our…read moreexperience this evening was essentially the same... food was not good, service was only fair, and, prices were not good for what we got. Tonight, I had Birria enchiladas, refritos and rice. The beans and rice were just ok. The birria was definitely unrecognizable. First, it's beef, not goat. It tasted like beef boiled in water, and shredded. Pretty much flavorless, definitely not birria. When I complained, I was offered the consommé, which added some flavor, but not birria. My meal was a total disappointment. My daughter had the taco plate with three different fillings, steak, carnitas, and chicken. All three were so salty, she couldn't eat them. Her beans and rice were good. The only bright spot was my lady's meal... an ala Carte bean burrito and a side of guacamole. The burrito was a tortilla, some refried beans and what seemed to be a queso fresco sauce. It was good. The guac was good. So, bottom line, it was a bad experience because the food was unrecognizable as what it was supposed to be. This was my exact complaint when Mi Tio had its grand opening. My Spanish speaking servers, assured me, in Spanish, I should give them another chance after the grand opening. Here we are years later dropping $65 for pitiful food and only fair drinks, barely even Mexican style. Not good. Not recommended. And definitely not real Mexican food. My daughter was our out of town guest, and she couldn't eat her meal because it was so salty. I was embarrassed. As I said on my first visit, ¡Buena suerte, Pobrecitos!

We did get there very early talking before 10am they were so sweet and amazing still letting us order what was available and answering any and many questions we had regarding food options. Service was 5 out of 5 for our first moment in LA everyone was so kind and made our journey so worth it. We got the crawfish fettuccine with the Crawfish dressing and regular rice and an amazing biscuit. (Honestly I could order a dozen just for the road back) All the food was a 10 out of 5 and so sad I don't live closer as I know I will be dreaming of this food for the rest of my life! They have other food there like a grocery store and really thinking of going back just to buy some for the freezer for when I miss it most. And always like to take a moment to talk about the restrooms and when going to places like that I don't expect the nicest bathroom but they shocked the mess out of me. By far the best restrooms. If there is a way to give a place more then 5 I would give them 10 out of 5 over all!!! Will be coming back!
