Eggplant with crabmeat menueiere. Appetizer size !!

We dined at Cafe Syndie Mae enroute from Florida to Texas. This is truly a destination worth bending your route to it, if you are not nearby. Some of the most delicious elevated but comfortable Cajun inspired food I've ever had. The vibe in the establishment is terrific. Lots of smiles, high energy. Our server was amazing and made us to feel like family way before the end of the evening. Live music is great, not too loud or obtrusive. Such an authentic experience and oh btw not that I was focussed on the check total, but this place is a total bargain as an added plus. Food of this caliber would be not as good and twice as expensive in a big city. Can't wait to go back. A real gem!

Cafe Sydnie Mae is a gem nestled in Breaux Bridge that'll give you a memberable experience. The vibe, hospitality, music, and food was remarkable. Miss Brandy gave us terrific suggestions and some background on the place. She was an awesome waitress. As we walked up to the front door, Mr. Puckett, invited us in and stopped by our table a few times to check in on us. We had a phenomenal experience thanks to a phenomenal staff.

I should have already posted multiple reviews after visiting Cafe Sydnie Mae many times. Let me preface this review by stating that every single visit was consistent with the following comments. 1) Their service and hospitality is the best example of TRUE "southern hospital"! 2) The Ambiance is true to Louisiana culture and always has the best life music that is a staple for us in our culture! 3) Last and certainly not least, never have I ever had one item from their menu that did not absolutely rate an 11 out of 10!! (their steak topped with lump crab meat with a side of cream spinach is absolutely heavenly) Ohhh... and the bartender is a master mixologist that is guaranteed to serve you something very unique and very memorable!

Stopping by Breaux Bridge looking for Cajun food I chose Cafe Sydnie Mae, right downtown and was very pleasantly surprised. It had a down home atmosphere and was filled with customers, looking mostly like locals, within 30 minutes of opening. The menu was broadly Southern and Cajun, with many having a special or elegant twist. The service was friendly, attentive and personal. My server kept bringing me back to Teche (the name of the local bayou) Wellington - the local take on the English Beef Wellington. It was a flaky pastry puff with a mellow brandy cream sauce overflowing with crab and crawfish. The flavors melded perfectly with the seafood taste perfectly elevated. I complemented this rich dish with a very well done (and flavored) caesar salad. No room was left for dessert. There is a limited but good wine and beer list. When I arrived there was a musician setting up his keyboard and I thought I was going to get some unexpected lagniappe - some local Cajon music. Not to be! He was joined by a chanteuse and we were serenaded with old standard lounge songs. I had a wonderful and memorable experience.l

Superb experience- best meal I have had out of several trips to the area. Met at the door by personable owner and staff. Seated early and Hailey(sp) was fantastic at making recommendations. Everyone at the bar was kind as well. Live music was great. Just a fantastic experience- thanks!

    Fabulous birthday celebration

I cannot EVER say enough about this little gem (a DIAMOND) of a restaurant in the heart of Downtown Breaux Bridge, La. from the moment you arrive to the time you leave the service is outstanding! The owner greets you himself with a very welcoming conversation and the bar and waitstaff are BAR NONE! The food is probably the best I've ever had at any restaurant , always prompt and always delicious. If you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop in, but make a reservation because it's always packed with great people! Thank you David for always making our experience a wonderful one. We can't get enough of it!

I am not exaggerating--visiting this restaurant was one of the best experiences of my life. The atmosphere is absolutely magical. We visited on NYE and I couldn't have dreamed of a better way to start 2024. We were served by Nikki and Lacey who were absolutely amazing. We met owners David and Cheryl and I cannot stress enough how generous, helpful, kind, etc the entire team at Cafe Sydnie Mae is. We felt like we were regulars/family. As for the food-- where to begin? We practically ordered the whole menu because we couldn't resist. This chef is clearly a generational talent. She was absolutely phenomenal. Not a single dish was anything less than exceptional. Dishes were bursting with flavor and exciting. I only wish I didn't live states away because this is the type of place you need to go to be reminded how beautiful and amazing life and people can be! Worth the drive/flight/everything.

    Great complimentary dessert.

The most amazing all-around experience! Our meal, the staff, and the man and woman entertaining us made it a magical experience!! Background: I made a dinner reservation for our 28th Anniversary. Before arriving, we didn't confirm our reservation time until what we thought was 45 minutes out for a 30-minute drive. After looking at our calendar, it showed our reservation was in 15 minutes, not 45 minutes. With zero chance of making it on time, I called the restaurant. After I explained to the person who answered our call that OUR mistake would cause us to miss our reservation by at least 25 minutes, the gentleman said in a very calming and reassuring voice, no rush, take your time; when you get here, your table will be ready. This was comforting, especially since it was our mistake and not theirs. To top it all off, they had an Anniversary Card on the table for us signed by all their employees, and at the end of the meal, they presented us with a complimentary Anniversary dessert. Again, the food, the staff, the atmosphere, and the entertainment truly made our Anniversary Epic!! Thank you, Cafe Sydnie Mae!!

Grits and Grillards super delicious and tender.

Best Mother's Day brunch here we had such a great time. The staff is super friendly. They had live music playing. I can listen to this all day and the food was magnificent. I highly recommend the grits of grillades. Chef Kim Nuzum never disappoints. Cynthia our server is super friendly. Her smile is so magnetic ask for her every time!

I asked her about the day's menu and while I don't mind paying the price for food, I was a bit taken aback when she told me it was $13 for a Turkey wing, rice, gravy, potato salad, and beans but as I said, I'd been wanting to try this place for a while plus I was hungry for something besides fast food. I was disappointed because there was no choice of sides; I do not eat potato salad but I was told no substitutions (like double beans) was allowed. When I got back to work and opened up the plate, imagine my chagrin when no delicious smell emitted from the plate and the food itself looked less than appetizing. The food looked like something thrown together for the sole purpose of feeding someone at the last minute. Being brutally honest here, the turkey, gravy, and white beans were similar in color (grayish) with not even a piece of parsley or green onion to jazz things up. Again, the food had absolutely NO aroma. The turkey wing seemed pretty tough because the plastic fork broke when I attempted to fork off some of the meat from the top. On to the rice, gravy, and beans. My first thought was to doctor it up with a bit of seasoning but after taking one tiny bite, I realized that there wasn't enough doctoring in the world to save this food; I just couldn't force myself to eat it. I do not believe in wasting money by throwing food away but unfortunately, I had no alternative. The area is filled with places where you can get a delicious, HIGH QUALITY plate lunch from actual smiling faces for the same price or even cheaper (Glenda's, Poche's, etc.) and my advice is that you skip this place and try one of those.
