Having gotten some really sub-par boudin in Baton Rouge, it was a PRIORITY to find a good place for boudin when we headed west. Hebert's did not disappoint! The boudin was EXACTLY what I wanted it to be (what I remembered from my childhood growing up in Louisiana). On top of that, the crawfish pie was PERFECTION. The crust was so flaky. The lady who worked there was so great, we thought she must have owned the place (she didn't). When we told her we wanted crawfish pies, she made sure we had nice, fresh ones. We even made sure to get some boudin balls to bring home. While it's not an eat-in sort of place, there was a picnic table out front, so we were all able to enjoy our food right there!

Frist time we ever tried boudin's and cracklin and since then we've been wanting to come back to get more. The person at the counter was super friendly and taught us about boudins. We grabbed some orders togo for our friends as well and they all enjoyed it. Next road trip to LA we're definitely going pass by this place again.

Driving through and saw a sign off the highway for this place. Decided to give it a try since they have a drive-through. Surprisingly they were open on Easter Sunday. We have never had boudin and wanted to try some. We tried boudin balls, crawfish pie and cracklins. The lady said that the Cracklin's were better than the ones you buy in the bag at the store. She was not lying at all they were delicious crispy seasoned Cracklins. The crawfish pie was my favorite. It had chunks Of crawfish meat in it and it was so flavorful. It looks like a hand pie. The Boudin balls were also delicious and had a kick to them. So glad that we stopped by on our road trip. Would recommend.

Stopped today and got 12 boudin balls. They were excellent. I will be stopping every time I go by for sure.

Crawfish pie (reminds me of an empanada) embodies everything from a crawfish boil minus the work wrapped up in a savory carb shell.

Well, if you believe my mom's theory that anyone named Durand is related to us. To be fair, I have already found one actual relative using this exact logic, so who knows about ol' SMD. Anyway, this place is insanely popular, requires reservations, and there is a reason for that. The food is awesome. Gumbo? Awesome. Etouffee? Awesome. Steaks? Damn great. The pork chop? Hell yes. And then there is the Breaux Bread. Get away from me, Satan. That stuff is way too good. Like, lawd have mercy, why would you do this to me good. They also usually have live music on the weekends, often a solo singer, and every time we have been the music has been great. It adds to the whole atmosphere without taking over the room. The staff is super fun, the cocktails are great, they have a really good bourbon selection, and the wine list is better than you might expect. This is not some little place surviving because it happens to be in Breaux Bridge. Sydnie Mae is a legitimately great restaurant that would be great anywhere. If you find yourself in the Breaux, get to Sydnie Mae. And if anyone happens to know whether Sydnie Mae Durand is actually related to me, let me know. My mom is probably already convinced.

We opened the door and were greeted by the live music, we got a table quickly. I like the way they give you ice water in a large container that you can pour yourself. The appetizer we tried was the fried eggplant with lump crab, and it was excellent, definitely the best eggplant dish I've had. I went the chicken and waffles for the main, waffles crisp outside tender inside and sweet but not overly sweet. The chicken had a nice spicy kick, steen syrup would have put this over the top, but got regular syrup, however this was still very tasty. The star was definitely the omelette! Wow this was special light airy like a soufflé with lump crab meat so amazing and delicious, the addition of the biscuit with the strawberry syrup and the grits made this a complete experience, definitely recommend this. Great meal to start off the New Year.

There's nothing wrong with being a hole in the wall business, because I've found that those are usually the hidden gems; however, there must be a point where you need to take a step back & put yourself into the customer's shoes & see what they see. Had I not read the good reviews about the food, I would've walked right back out. I just kept an open mind & gave it a chance. It really needs a good de-cluttering, organizing & cleaning - there was just stuff everywhere. One can only think that if it looks that way to the public, how does it look where the food is prepared? The food wasn't bad though; I had the smothered ribs which were really tender, and my husband enjoyed the red beans. I really wanted to like the corn but it was a little too spicy for me, which is what you'd expect for Cajun food of course! Glenda & her employee were both very nice. Although I'm not from this area, I don't think I'd return if I was until it had a much needed overhaul.

Chicken wasn't greasy but moist with flavor. Red beans also very tasty and boudin link just as good. Service: 5/5 The counter server was friendly and so were the cooks, while it did take a while to get my food, it's cooked to order so that's understandable. I've been eating this boudin since I was a kid. The quality and flavor haven't been compromised over the years at all! Each time I come back home, there seems to be another new boudin spot to try, with fancy fillings and a mascot/logo similar to Charlie Ts, but no matter how many I try, Charlie Ts always takes the number one spot! Their formula is just SPOT ON! The service is always great, although I do miss seeing Mr. Charlie in the store. There's nothing like seeing the man who fixed your boudin as a kid still doing the thing he loves! I'm happy for his retirement, but he is forever a part of my childhood! The store is very clean every time I visit, and there's ample parking out front. You will get more options the earlier you go. Trust me, everybody knows Charlie's is the best, so you don't want to wait until the afternoon when there are only a couple boudin balls left. Go early. I personally prefer their classic links and the regular pork boudin balls. The formula is perfect and doesn't really need the bells and whistles, to be honest, but if you prefer a party in your mouth, try the pepperjack cheese or even the spinach and cheese eggroll! They will not disappoint! And I can't forget, their cracklin is the BOMB! If I visit Breaux Bridge and don't bring back some cracklin to my mom in California, she gets cranky! Lol. I also appreciate the frozen options! I was able to fly some frozen boudin home and share with friends who'd never had boudin before. They loved it, and I'm glad I got to introduce them to the BEST :)
