The best cajun food I have had in Memphis. The gumbo had so much flavor. I have ordered it at a lot of other places, and it is always so bland. But not here! The flavor was fantastic. Our server was great. The ambiance was nice and dark. We will definitely be back!

French fries and BBQ shrimp! I already ate the bread that came with it!

We sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. We had the spinach Madeline, house cut fries and the BBQ shrimp. We loved everything we ordered. Drinks were good and the service was great too. We will definitely be back!

Had a good time here for happy hour. The po boys were ok, but the fries and liver were the highlight of the meals. The vibes were good and so were the margaritas. Second line is always a solid place to go to

Food was good and the service was excellent and they were busy on a Friday night ... sat in the swamp bar out back and it was awesome

We came at an odd time so the place was dead for lunch. Roe was killing it serving because she was the only person in the place. Food was good, prices are definitely high for what you get. I wouldn't choose to come back but I would definitely come back if someone else picked.

I wanted to try and new spot for our monthly bookclub meeting. I've been meaning to check out this spot for happy hour and decided to see what the brunch Menu had to offer. Parking wasn't too bad as it was Sunday. I opted to park in the nearby garage as it was free. The colorful entry is welcoming. Upon entry I was promptly seated.. Reservation: simple to do via Resy Service: amazing Food: Buttermilk pancakes with blueberry and bacon; this person was huge. I was not expecting the size. Delicious! Cheese grits: first serving was super salty. Immediately corrected issue and the next bowl was so much better. Biscuits and gravy was fantastic. Cocktail: When Life Gives You Lemons: vodka, fresh lemonade and lavender pea flower syrup. I was expecting a sweet flavor however it has just the right amount of tartness. Rating: 5/5

The bartenders here are awesome and were very welcoming to me last Sunday! The catfish was tasty! Even though I wish it wasn't farm-raised, the flavor was comforting. The spinach madeleine was good, but had a lot of cream. This place can be casual, but also a nice spot for a special occasion!

Everything was excellent. Even saw Kelly English. We had the bbq shrimp, crawfish etoufee and roast beef poboy. Staff was amazing.

The hubby and I were looking for someplace different. We ended up here. We loved the New Orleans vibe. The service was super friendly. The food was delicious. We came on Sunday Steak Night. Surprise! Salad, steak, and a loaded potato. It was all perfect. We finished it off with bread pudding, so yummy. Now all we need is a nap.

This is a great meal for lunch. Come hungry

Always a great day at the second line. I love this place. Have been several times. I wish the weather was like this 4 days a a week! Come out and check it out. Drinks are good and food is wonderful

Muffuletta (close up, and half upside down)
    Mathew S.

Late lunch/ 2pm or so. We ate on the patio out back. The staff, hospitable as ever (and as expected at a Kelly English joint- dude must really love his employees, given how they treat their customers- it shows!), pulled a couple of tables apart so we could enjoy the weather. Row was our server- she was remarkable. Promptly and warmly greeted, we set down for our quarry. I narrowed it down to oysters, the Zimmern, or the muffuletta. The Scientist got the turkey poor boy (I abhor the phrase 'Po' Boy') sandwich. We also got an order of the Louisiana poutine (fries, pimento cheese, andouille, crawfish tails) (which didn't come out, but were quickly brought once mentioned, so no real concern or issue here). Hers was great- it's not that you can refine a Poor Boy; it is what it is. The excellence of execution in Second Line's offering is the ingredients: savory turkey, damned good (maybe Benton's?) bacon, lettuce and other rabbit fodder fresh and crisp. Creole mayo added a nice bite. The French bread was phenomenal: wonderfully flaky and warm, its bread, sure, but the texture was world class (for bread). Now, ring the bell- because this is about the muffuletta. This was the best muffuletta I've had outside the 504. The olive mix was great- the added texture, a nice crunch/ density to offset the meltiness of the cheese and the doughiness of the bread. Ham had a tinge of smokiness to it(?). All in all, it's a wave of flavor and texture. With only half the muffuletta eaten, half the healthy portion of fries now taunting me, resigned to my fate and gut loaded, I zigged when I should have zagged and got the bread pudding, ya' know, just to see where it stacked up to every other bread pudding I've ever had. This was both a mistake and the best decision I've made this calendar month (this includes at work, where I'm basically paid for judiciousness and circumspection in decision making). In the, um, words (?) or vocalizations of Justin Wilson (if anyone gets that reference, I'll be amazed): "Aaahhhhhyyyeeee! Now dats somme mighty fine bred puddin', nawh." Buttery, loose, the former crust dense, sweet in different variations from the ice cream (you can see the bits of vanilla bean in there) and candied pecans, but not sweet for icky sweet's sake. So you're still reading. Let me get to the point: last time Second Line got a 3 spot from me. Now it's a solid 4, which means this is the best New Orleans themed bar food 1) in Memphis, 2) within a days drive of Memphis without crossing into the state of Louisiana, and 3) the best New Orleans sandwiches (I can't say sandwiches proper, because Reubens and meatball subs also fall just to that category, and I'm not ready to contemplate if Second Line's muffuletta gets the nod over a certain Reuben in St. Louis or a certain meatball sub in Cosby, TN). As always, 5s are unicorns and a 4.5 does not a 5 make because 5s don't get the round up in my book; Second Line is a solid 4.5 after this experience. So why all 4.5 star talk on a former 3? Because the 3 was to go, the 4.5 was eating there. Food wise top notch, but the people who work there (looking at you, lady named Row) make it transcendent of the typical 4 star archetype. Meaning? Eat there. Dine well. Support local. Tip generously. This is exactly the place to do that.

The Crabby Crawdaddy Pizza at Venice Kitchen is the second-best pizza I've ever had. The only pizza I've had that ranks higher is Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza in Indianapolis. The crab and shrimp are the stars of the show. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and loaded with flavor. If I had one suggestion, I'd add just a touch more seasoning to make it absolutely perfect--but even as it is, it's outstanding. I also tried the soup. It was decent, but it didn't stand out to me, so I probably wouldn't order it again. I ordered takeout, and when I arrived, they were just boxing everything up. I only waited about 3-4 minutes. The staff was friendly, and everything was hot and ready. If you're in Memphis, don't leave without trying the Crabby Crawdaddy Pizza. It's one of the best pizzas I've had anywhere in the country.

My daughter ordered the Pasta Maria and rated it a 6.5/10. I had the Creole Delight and would give it a 6/10. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for us. If I return, it will definitely be to try the pizza and the Strawberry Lemon Drop that I've heard so much about. So this review may be biased because I will accept no slander against my favorite restaurant. The portions? Perfect. I am so full from lunch and it was just a choose 2 with a cup or soup (bowl portions people!!!) and half of a chicken salad sandwich. The soup was delicious loaded potato soup and the sandwich was toasted to perfection as usual. The service? We had the nicest man take our order. We began getting drinks and another worker approached us saying our order was going to take a little while longer than expected and she offered us a complimentary cake, brownie, or rice crispy treat. It was such a nice touch considering I didn't even think the wait was any more than usual. Spectacular customer service and recognition. Covid took many things away from us including the famous Newks Salad Condiment Bar. But it is BACK BABY! In all its glory with the liquid sandwich potions, bread and butter pickles, Parmesan cheese, croutons, the works. I love snacking on pickles and croutons while I wait on my meal. Ambience? There's something nostalgic about the inside of a Newks. They haven't modernized the interiors to where you feel uncomfortable. It's a nice comfortable place to sit and have lunch or dinner with a friend you haven't seen in a while, while also providing the convenience of a quick meal if that's what you need. I love that you can self serve yourself drinks, napkins, etc. The Newks special cups are always fun to see the designs. I will continue to make a pit stop here at the last Memphis Newks when I am in the area. Thank you for having a spot with comfort food that I can bring my kids to!

They don't make it easy..Detroit 10x8, 10" Deep Dish (NB only 35.made.daily??), Calzones, 13" Classic, GF Cauliflower Crust, and a 18" Chicago Cracker thin--say wh@t? Never heard of this, all more reason to return! All cooked in an Italian stone deck oven 600° not quite the leopard spotting of neopolitans but it's pretty decent having just tried the Detroit Pepperoni and Deep Dish $22 and $28 Deep Dish Big Apple. Oven rendered crispy lil pepperoni cups and a decent crusty cheese edge on the Detroit, and a puffy pillow crust on the Deep Dish. Latter misses the buttery yellow cornmeal firmness of signature Chicago Deep Dishes though, and the puffy dough does get a little dry and more chewy less crisp as you get to the end of your slice and as time outta the oven ticks on. Rotolo's spicy sausage are thin slices not crumbled that I was expecting and sure bang a bite, it's very good. Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad $14 with pesto honey mustard, not too sweet was the most inventive salad that I've never seen before. Gave the pepperoni to my guest and still delish with crispy romaine and grape tomatoes, parm & bright zesty banana peppers. It's huge and enough for 3 of us. Didn't add but Chix was only $3 to add or $5 for fried /grilled shrimp! Hubby's real IPA 4/5* and Wisconsin N/A Untitled Art Juicy IPA $6 were very flavorful. Both a cloudy lemonade color, good hoppy bite, clean finish though the real IPA's is short not lingering, it's better on the NA actually, and prefer over more commonly found Athletic IPA 5/5* Waitress was a young student, attentive and lots of them running around, she did a great job, refills, order, checking in, out. I had reservations for 7:45 but the seating took a little minute due to large celebrations beforehand. Upon booking, I was unaware of live music on Saturdays so that was a surprise and a great treat. The artist is a well known local musician, he was phenomenal! We ordered the blackened shrimp dumplings and the baked crab dip for starters. The dumplings had an unique savory taste but it had the texture of grounded meat instead which was interesting. However the taste was delicious. I loved how the tomato bacon gravy brought it all together. The complimentary bread went better with the crab dip than the French baguette toast that it came with. Now for the entrees...salmon with black rice, mushrooms, topped with beet emulsion and shrimp and grits! Perfectly seasoned and nice portion. The pictures speak for themselves.
