It needed addtional Freon again this year (2026). I was charged $300 per pound for two pounds of R410A. This is excessive. Wholesale cost on the high end is $20 per pound. This means I am paying $.55 a day for Freon. I also payed for an unsuccessfull leak search. No calls to Pioneer about this have been returned. This company is an LLC registered in Delware and has acquired local HVAC companies: Cook's Comfort Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Dale's Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical Frog Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical The Surfin' Plumbers Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Venture capital and private equity firms are buying and consolidating service firms in many cities, eliminting competition and raises prices. This was one of the most frustrating service experiences I've ever had as a property owner…read more Robert Junior was my first point of contact--he was responsive and helpful, even after telling me he was no longer with the company. He promised he'd stay involved and keep communication flowing. That held up briefly, then he completely disappeared... and so did his father, Robert Senior, who had "taken over" operations. I would hardly call his lack of communication and strong lack of customer service "taking over." My tenant dealt with ongoing AC issues for over a month, sometimes with no working air during hot summer days. Every time I was told the issue was resolved--whether it was the thermostat, the board, the float switch, or then a mysterious plumbing issue--something else would go wrong. I asked repeatedly for a clear breakdown of what was fixed, when, and by whom. I was told it would be emailed. I gave my email address, correctly spelled, six different times. Still never received the paperwork and it has now been almost THREE MONTHS. To make matters worse, when I tried to get clarity, Robert Senior called me and snapped. I remained calm and professional throughout, but the lack of accountability and the dismissiveness were inexcusable. At the end of the day, I had to micromanage every step just to keep things from falling apart. This company may be family-run, but the communication and professionalism were anything but warm or reliable. And this is putting all of the above lightly. I could post screen shots of all our text messages but that would take me a long time and I've already wasted more than enough on waiting around on these two. If you value your time, your tenants, and your sanity--look elsewhere.

SCAM ALERT. Proceed with caution. Tech, whether intentional or not, reversed the fan direction and…read morethen qutoed me 1200 to fix it and fill up the freon. Had a 2nd opinion come out and ask me who was messing around with the fan because it was hooked up in reverse. The 2nd opinion tech was able to get the unit working at the service call without the freon they told me I needed or new condenser fan. Also important to note, there would have been no way for the unit to have been operational two full summers) with the fan in reverse, leaving the only people to have reversed the fan direction being J&J. When presented with this information, J&J became defensive and instead of apologizing, refused to come out and fill up the freon on the other unit. If they weren't so defensive, I'd be more inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt. They instead chose to get ugly with me leading me to believe I had uncovered their scam. Again, proceed with caution. Attached is the bid with the condenser fan that wasn't needed and supporting text from my tenant who as also told our problem was the fan going the wrong direction.
