Like stepping back in time to the days of the gold rush. The service station ended up being a terrific choice for us to eat this evening. All of us got something different and all of us walked away very happy with our selection. The service station has that kind of "saloon" feel to it when you come in the door. And I mean that in a good way. Nicely refurbished to reflect a lot of the old style. There's a bar when you first come in and plenty of seating throughout the restaurant. The menu item of choice for me tonight was the "fish and chips". It's beer, battered Alaskan Pollock fish. It comes with homemade coleslaw and a choice of sides and I chose a salad. A very nice portion size of fish that was flaky and not at all fishy tasting. The homemade coleslaw was terrific, wish there was more in the cup. The salad consisted of lettuce and cherry tomatoes. Jamestown has an amazing culinary delight. The service station will fill your belly and tantalize your tastebuds with lovely craft beers and tasty delights. There is a full bar, outdoor patio seating, and the other side of the business has table service . Some of the craft beers that are on hand can be purchased for take-home and enjoyment later. We stopped in after a nice day of antiquing in the stores around town. The menu was prominently displayed on the outside of this lovely establishment, and even though we weren't ready to eat at the time we walked by the first time the charcuterie board was on my mind as we continue to shop. We had successfully purchased the antiques that we didn't know we needed. We went back, and we're promptly greeted by a lovely and warm hostess that was also our waitress. She did a wonderful job of explaining some of the craft beers that were on hand and agreed that the charcuterie board was one of her favorite items when she eats at her own business. My partner had an amazing, stout beer that they had on hand. New Glory brewing, tasty nutty stout. This beer tasted like drinking and alcoholic candied coffee. It was creamy finish with lovely hints of nut and coffee. I had a red ale, and it also paired with the cheeseboard.. The cheeseboard came with a lovely, mild goat, cheese, sliced salami, Gouda American white cheese, dried fruits, candied, walnuts, homemade jam, along with homemade red, pickled onions that were just fantastic. I happened to see some of the other things that the patrons were also ordering and they looked absolutely delightful. The menu is not overly crowded so it's easy to pick something that would be tasty for your meal. If you happen to be in Jamestown or just passing through on your way to Sonora, I highly recommend that you take a quick stop have a nice drink, some lovely food and enjoy the great staff. read more

One of our go to spots here in Tuolumne County. Steaks are awesome. But many things on the menu are great. I sometimes just order the nuts, cheese and fruit for my main course because it's so big and has a large variety. Pro tip. Tap water here is terrible. Ask for bottled water. Unfortunately, even though they have a filtration system, the tap water is used in their soda machine, and I can taste it in the soda as well. Loved this place! Friendly, fast service, the food was tasty, and the portions are generous. My family and I came here for lunch on a Saturday while passing through on our way home from a vacation. It's got a beautiful wood bar when you first walk in and just has a welcoming feeling. We were seated right away and our friendly server took our drink orders shortly after that. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer to start, which was very good and disappeared in a matter of minutes once it arrived. My husband and I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and fries to share. We both enjoyed it and the portion was just right for the two of us. My boys ordered the fish and chips and the Service Station burger. Their plates weee nearly empty by the time they were done! We love The Service Station, but have not dined here in awhile .... chalk it up to Covid..... because if not for Covid disruption, this is one of best places in the Sonora, Jamestown, and Murphys for quality food and beer/wine. Today, very ably, funny, and entertainingly served by Debbie (an absolute hoot!)), the food, as usual, was top shelf. As often, the Great Gal and I shared our meal, going with a cold, crisp Caesar Salad, top with large shredded parmesan cheese which really popped the flavor. And somehow, someway, Kathleen (owner) and crew found a way to bring an authentic Philly Cheesesteak to the West, with a slight twist, using a Pabano pepper instead of a green pepper. It was lick your plate good!!! I am waiting for a slice of pumpkin cake as I make these comments. No doubt it will be yummy! read more

Saw the high rated reviews on yelp, decided to try this place out. We went around 3:30ish for a late lunch. Location: restaurant in the heart downtown Jamestown with seating inside and out. Cute decor, sand area outside for games etc. Our party consisted of 3 adults, 2 teens and a 24 month old baby. Kids grilled cheese was ok. Nothing to come back for again Brisket sandwich was pretty darn amazing which comes with fries. Tender meat with the yummy crunch from the claw, can't ask for anything better. Shrimp starter (can't recall the name) came with a decent amount of shrimp, cooked perfectly. Sauce was fantastic Those two things is what stopped me from giving this review one star. And now the bad.... And i work in this industry so i can chop things up to someone having a bad day; this was not that. Our 4 meals included fries, they tasted like old fries reheated...worse than old McDonald's fries. Soup of the day: Italian wedding; tasted more like bland noodle soup with a giant pork meatball. Service was very slow Having high chair for the 2 year old didn't arrive tile we asked twice. Server carrying a knife sticking out (not down) while delivering food to table When refilling our waters, refilling in a way that the water is dripping into my food Lastly, we were going to leave a 13% cash tip but the check already included 18% gratuity which to me was this servers way to guarantee a tip. Side note: i do not recall seeing any disclaimers on the menu either i understand the need on large parties however a baby should count as an full person in a party. Had high hopes for this place! I've been here a few times for lunch and dinner. The giant pretzel appetizer is great. Definitely big enough to split. The last time we were there was a Friday night, dinner time. I expected to wait, but there was no wait time! We were sat in the back room, which was quiet at first. Then, a very loud and mildly obnoxious group entered. This room is NOT big enough to have a group in it and have anyone else enjoy their time. It doesn't take much for the sound to become unbearably loud. Either way, we just stopped trying to have a conversation and ate. Food was good. I got the pulled pork sandwich - always great. Service was attentive as well. I think I'll just kindly ask to avoid the small back room the next time I'm there. read more

We have been loyal customers at this restaurant for years. In the last year, we have had some very unpleasant experiences. Tonight we gave it a last go. Unfortunately we won't be back. Fish (in the fish and chips) was raw. Batter burnt. We ordered 3 drinks from the drink menu and they ranged from 8-9 dollars a piece. When we received our check, we were charged 11 for all of them. After asking why the price was 2 dollars a drink more than the menu, our answer from the server was that we ordered the "pint size". I stated that there was no other option on the menu, and isn't the "pint size" the smaller of the sizes? Anyway, to end it all, we had an added 18% gratuity on a 6 top at that. Maybe we will give it a year and try again. Sad. This used to be a kick ass place. read more

Loved this place. Stopped here on our way to Yosemite. Very cute little shown and stumbled upon this place. Super friendly staff and really attentive. Had the chicken quesadilla, the Gorgonzola cheese bread and the Salmon. All were delicious. If anything, I'd leave the rice out of the quesadilla. Coffee was delicious too. Got a cup to take back to the hotel. Definitely recommend to whoever drives past this town. read more

I always try to comment on the restrooms and I am pretty sure they are they only restaurant in Tuolumne County that has seat covers! The ladies room is nicely decorated and very clean. Jamestown is a bit of a destination, who knew?! Stopped by because our travel companion/backpacking guide/engagement photographer recommended we have lunch here on our way from Twin Lakes back to SF. We'd hiked like 8 miles out from a 3-day backpacking trip that morning so we could eat, you know. We were lured out back to the Biergarten with the sun shining and all the games to ourselves. They have a ton of craft beers and wines, which we sipped on while embarrassing ourselves at cornhole (ok maybe just me, I'm atrocious). The food came and the serving sizes were very generous, and we finished every bite. The farro salad was super hearty and tasty, though I must say I was expecting less farro and more veggies. My body was craving veggies and nutrients after days of backpacking food. On our way out actually realized they have a TON more beers available on tap inside, including pliny (before pliny was widely available ). Oops, well now we know for next time? We were visiting Jamestown today to ride the train. Needed to find a place for lunch after our journey. We loved the atmosphere of this place. It isn't huge. One side is the bar and the other has tables. But it was beautiful inside. Nice and clean too. The servers were on their game and even though the place was packed, they were attentive and super friendly. We had our two year old with us and they were so great asking if we needed things for him. We ordered the kids quesadilla and it was a great portion for the price. Flavorful too. My husband had the burger and he said it was so juicy and great flavor. My mom had the ground chicken burger and she also enjoyed it very much. Great combination of toppings. I had the French dip and it was awesome. The beef was super tender and thinly sliced. Good portion of meat on it too. The au jus was not overly salty and had great flavor. My husband enjoyed the variety of beers available on tap and got a flight. What an awesome lunch we had! The steak we had was to die for and the staff was so friendly. Our kids who are 7 and 10 loved it as well. Everything is homemade down to the sauces, dressing and it is so hard to get a place that has a menu for everyone. They have steak, burgers, homemade chicken tenders, salads, soups, fish, and I am so happy to find this gem of a place. They even had a computer malfunction and were still on top of getting the food out pretty quick! Our server was a blonde who was extremely helpful and new the menu and made great recommendations.
