Camps is the Clubhouse/Restaurant for the Greenhorn Creek golf course, Wyndham's World Mark Angels Camp Timeshare, and housing in the Angel Oaks neighborhood. It is an impressive setting with great views; when one gets window or patio seating. Our meal lasted late afternoon to dusk, We saw one doe in somebody's front yard landscaping on the drive to Camps, and her herd on the green with the steel steer as we left. We started our meal with a delicious mocktail with sodw, lime, pineapple and? Then had a second with our shared skirt steak dinner. We are fiber fans in our 7th decade. I'd never eaten broccolini, unsophisticated me. Are the stems supposed to be tender as the asparagus stem end cut off and thrown away? Ours was. Great jaw exercise for our flapping chins and Lordy, Lordy! Such fiber. The steak and starch side were good. The dessert coffee (for me) and carrot cake (for us) was second among the several desserts on our south-north Spring 2026 Marathon Drive and Family Responsibility Tour. The advisor at our Best Western mentioned Mike's Pizza, a Thursday night Bocche Bowler on the Camps pitch mentioned Gus's Steak House. Wow! Amazing food! Wonderful service by Anna, our server. My visiting friend (from Colorado) and I split the hangar steak. Amaaaaaazing! She enjoyed a salad as well. Lived here for 19 years. CAMPS has always been good, but we had dinner here tonight for the first time in 18 months. Everything was super delicious! I had the French Dip with prime rib sliced thin with the perfect proportion of layers of mayo, finely chopped onion (browned) , Swiss, and horseradish. aus jus was balanced and complemented the sandwich perfectly. Love the fries with the extra crunchy layer Side salad was very fresh and tasty with baby greens, red onions, shaved carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers. What an absolute disappointment. Food was cold. They advertise duck fat fries, was not the case. Normal fries. Pot stickers were cold in the center. The service was so slow, and I would understand if they were busy but that wasn't the case. Considering the location and what folks pay to golf and enjoy a nice dinner. Everything was subpar. We popped in for lunch after a round of golf for some food and drinks, and left satisfied and full. It was happy hour so of course we had to take advantage of some of the deals. We got the buffalo wings, which were crispy, and meaty. Chicken fell right off the bone, and with the spicy ranch, a very nice touch. They have a $9 burger on HH, just the burger, not a bad deal, the burger itself was tasty, but needed a sauce of some sort to elevate it, bc it lacked any distinct flavor, just an average burger. We also ordered a club sandwich, which come on a croissant. I was hesitant about the croissant but it actually ended up being really good. Good amount of deli meat, just overall a tasty sandwich. We sat at the bar and our server was super friendly and made sure we were good at all points of our visit. Under new ownership and new chef. So far the food is sub par and overpriced. The first time I had the burger it was fresh meat. The second time my burger was an octagon shaped frozen patty, my bun was small and stale and the only onion on it was the size of a dime. I'd go elsewhere for a burger. French dip was good, not great. The fries are good, they used to be on the plate now they are in a small basket on the plate. The small salad in place of fries was good. I haven't ordered the Caesar because I want a true chopped up Caesar salad not a burnt half stalk I have to cut myself. When we tried breakfast it was bad! Mainly overpriced but the hash browns came out so burnt and shriveled it was weird. The eggs Benedict had no hollandaise sauce either. With the high prices of the dinner meals we are too afraid to try them and be disappointed. We are members and live here so we were hoping for better so we could eat there often. It was my husband's birthday, and since we don't go out often, I chose Camp's Restaurant based on the positive Yelp and Google reviews. Because we were already in Angels Camp, our dinner options were limited, so I was excited to try it. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was that the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. It was 101 degrees outside, and we were looking forward to relaxing in an air-conditioned restaurant. The servers were kind and helpful, and they accommodated my request for a table away from the noisy bar area, which I appreciated. Our food arrived promptly and was both delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, our experience quickly deteriorated because of the heat and the number of flies inside the restaurant. Our server brought a small fan to the table, apparently to help keep the flies away, but it didn't provide any cooling relief. We spent much of the meal swatting flies while the restaurant continued to get hotter. I was literally sweating through my clothes and began feeling ill from the heat after only a few bites of my dinner. My husband insisted we leave because he was worried I might develop heat exhaustion. I ended up eating only four bites of what otherwise appeared to be an excellent meal. The staff was pleasant and the food was very good, but the excessive heat and fly problem made it impossible for us to enjoy our evening. I sincerely hope these issues are addressed because the restaurant has the potential to provide a much better dining experience. read more

Camps Restaurant While staying at WorldMark in Angels Camp, we were gifted a certificate for Camps Restaurant. The staff is friendly and very approachable. Our Fried Ravioli and Bread with Butter came to the table rather quickly. I truly liked the ravioli but I loved the bread. I am very much a carb lover as much as I am a steak lover. So a warm crusty bread and soft uber spreadable butter is one of life's greatest pleasures (yes, the bread is an $8 charge). However my enthusiasm couldn't continue throughout our meal. Although my Rib-eye Steak was cooked perfectly the way I like it, the vegetables on the side were very drab and overcooked. The spicy Brussels Sprouts had a good flavor. I wish they were slightly spicier, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. My wife's Sole Almandine was a tad under seasoned and her vegetables were as drab and overcooked as mine. A quick blanche then saute would have done wonders for the sole. In contrast, the mashed potatoes she ordered on the side were perfect. For dessert, we ordered the Creme Brûlée. This was the perfect way to end our meal here. The creme brûlée was creamy and had the perfect amount of sweetness. read more

Was looking forward to a great experience. Sadly it was sub par. Wait staff doing their best to take care of too many customers. Filet had a hint of pink for medium rare. Loaded potato was cold. Green beans were not done and cold. Girlfriends prime rib was excellent. Same issue with her sides. Sha had to ask for horse radish, really. And wasn't given the choice a regular or creamy like table next to us. Which I might add were given their dinners 5 minutes apart. Waitress delivered food didn't come back to ask if everything was ok. When she came back and we voiced our needs it was too late to correct. The free desert offered was too little too late. So we ordered food for four people before we teed off on hole No. 9 (told them that) and were told "it will be ready when you get here" and not only did it take a half hour after we arrived, but we specifically requested ranch sauce with our fries (and again when we paid). When they brought the food we asked if it included ranch and they said "oh sorry it's blue cheese." Blue cheese dressing is straight awful. So we asked a third time for ranch and they brought us a single big tub of ranch. Imagine our horror when we opened that tub and you better believe it, it was the death odor itself, the disgusting taste of rotten blue cheese. read more

I thought the best thing about this venue was the view in the back bordering a bocce ball court and golf course. The service was pretty good too. I had the crab cakes which were light and fluffy something I wouldn't of thought of. It seemed that there were bits of crab rather than shredded crab meat I'm accustomed to. Tasty but different. As a main entree I had the linguine with shrimp. It was appealing looking. It had a lemony sauce. I would of preferred something with not as dominating flavor of lemon and a creamier richer sauce. Also they seem to be a bit stingy on the amount of pasta they served. read more

We live about an hour away and we're considering relocating to Angel's Camp ...specifically to Green Horn Creek and Camp's will most certainly be our go-to ...especially if Cameron is working - did I mention how great Cameron is/was? Go in for lunch today before a round of golf. 4 of us order. When each of us ordered we were asked what we wanted with the order. When I ordered the $17 French dip she asked what I wanted with it. I asked, what are my choices? Fries, garlic fries, onion rings, salad. I ordered the onion rings. Their fryer is NOT hot enough to make onion rings. The onion rings were greasy, warm, and falling apart. But imagine my surprise when the bill arrived! $4 charge for onion rings? $3 for garlic fries? $4 for salad? It sounded like these were just part of the meal. Never once did the server tell us these things were extra. I really don't appreciate that at all. Not to mention the food was sub-par. read more

My friend and I had reservations for Sunday @ 6pm, but decided to leave a little early and have a cocktail at the bar. Restaurant was totally empty except for 2 tables of 2. My first thought was "uh oh...the reviews I've read lately must be true." I'm glad that wasn't the case for us! We were greeted by Benjamin at the bar who was exceptionally welcoming and engaging with us....thus we decided to just stay at the bar and have our dinner there! A bit ridiculous really. New Year's Day brunch $35, bland, cold food, wouldn't make an egg because of the amount of people there when there were only 2 other tables besides us. Then they tried to charge us for our 2 year old who had 3 bites from my plate. He didn't even get a drink. We had to ask to turn on the heaters and it took 30 minutes and 2 people to accomplish that. The waitress, Buffy, had an attitude about us sitting outside, she was not very friendly and did not make us feel very welcome at all. Underwhelming on food and service. The scenery and ambiance of the resort are really nice though. Maybe an à la cart menu and the night crew might make it worth it then. read more

Our intention was to try The Cellar Room located on the golf course but there were temporary closed to no staff We walked into the restaurant and was welcomed by delightful staff. We were able to sit at the bar and belly up for some great conversation with the bartender. We then went outside to enjoy our wine, the golf course views and the restaurant Manager came to check in on us. He shared his plans on upcoming changes, made recommendations on the next wine we should try and food suggestions. Looks like we are staying for a while and will definitely be back. Four of us are here before a concert at Ironstone. Every dish was bad and the service was mediocre.

Wow, what a difference from just a short year ago!... Been dining here at least twice monthly for a few months now and it's just getting better. Very hard to believe the disingenuous reviews that completely disregard the obvious improvements. Some of my favorites include the Poke Stack...as fresh and clean as it gets with gentle seasonings, really satisfying the craving. The artichoke dip is so good it really needs a whole loaf of bread to enjoy it with..( they'll bring you more ;). Soups are homemade and literally better than anywhere in a 50 mile radius...delicious. The Thai salad is so yummy and enough for two!...burgers are monsters that make you salivate before your fist bite. ...and the steaks are nothing short of a fine steakhouse...period. The servers are so exemplary professional you would think big city fine dining, including one of the best full sevice cocktail bars anywhere...its a feel good and happy place atmosphere to uplift those in need of feeling like it used to be when fine dining was fine dining. It's true Camps has been struggling its way out of a tough market. My wife was there last November and swore she'd never go back. I convinced her to try an appetizer & vino on the back deck over the 4th of July weekend. We found out after having some killer appetizers Calamari and short ribs that they have a new chef. So last week we went back again for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Yes, they have a new Chef, and all should give it a try. We were very happy with the meal, desert & wine. As always the food was amazing! From the mushroom risotto appetizer to the vanilla gelato ice cream our family not only went away not hungry but raved about the food... and we're all foodies. Cam, our server, was professional and very kind to our daughter who was celebrating her birthday. We also enjoyed playing bocce ball before and during dinner. The only thing we missed was the statue of Mark Twain out front but I guess the former owners decided to take him with them (Ha, Ha)! Saw no such parties at all. But she made it weird pointing that out. There were plenty of open tables Atmosphere- it's a very nice and pretty restaurant FOOD: menu looked promising. It was in fact terrible. New York was cooked to the right temperature but was tough as leather, and the sauce that came with it w peppercorns was bland and greasy. Chicken Marsala... was WAY too sweet. Like way over the top. Ban mi-- promising, but the veggies house made pickled cucumber and carrots were NOT. Guess they just chopped some up and hoped it wasn't noticed, no cilantro to be seen, and apparently thousand island seemed like a great idea to slather on and call it good. Bleh, kinda like the peppercorn sauce, should have been a tip off another diner asked for A-1 sauce on our way to being seated. Only thing good here was side veg that still needed seasoning. We opted not to have dessert even though we were celebrating a birthday. Such a disappointment. I think this place is great if you are drunk off the fine selections of over priced wines. Because that has to be the only way you could enjoy the horrible food that is severely over priced for the quality of dishes. And then the flys. We spent the first part of the meal fending off 4-5 flys encroaching our food and buzzing into our ears and faces. The server was great and isn't responsible for the food in the kitchen. Someone needs to speak up to the chef/owners to humble them about the food here. I regret spending my hard earned money for terrible food. We were staying at the time share place close by. The Wyndham / Worldmark. We got in later in the evening so decided to pick up from Camps. We looked them up, got the menu from their website. It was confusing because it looked like it was uploaded twice. But there was no distinction between them. We called to order they said they had no sandwiches, which is what I wanted. Only a burger. The lady said I must be looking at an old menu. I asked if it was on their website, is that the right one? She said yes. So basically the lunch menu is not labeled and it runs into the dinner menu. If you have the same questions I do. Lol I ordered a Caesar w chicken. She asked small or large, I got a large. We ordered 2 salmons. Their kids menu was very limited. Felt like food for toddlers. My 6 yr old wanted Salmon. So we got her the adult portion. We also ordered 2 soups. Which we were told were "large cups". With a tip - 2 salmons, chicken Caesar & 2 soups was $92. The salmon was cooked beautifully, my husband & daughter said the flavor was very good. The mixed veg was 4 asparagus spears and a 1 inch long piece of carrot. The pice pilaf had no flavor and frankly tasted like it had been reheated for another meal service. My salad was small and had about 12 little cubes of chicken. The dressing tasted fishy to me. Probably a lot of anchovy paste in it. I picked it up. The staff couldn't be friendlier. Very nice people! We would probably try again and dine in, maybe for lunch as they had more options we were interested in. The dinner menu was a bit heavy & we didn't feel like it would hold up in a Togo box. I don't believe there's a mask mandate in their county. So staff and guests were not wearing masks, if that's important to you. read more
