The selection is awesome, like a time travel to sewing stores of my childhood only with modern inventory. But it seemed if you're not a regular, no service. I wandered the whole store, for maybe 20 minutes, stopping at several registers, not once did anyone offer to help me. Even when I joined a line, the worker finished the transaction before me then turned around to do something else. Prices are unknown except for the overpriced sewing machines. I don't know if the problem is management or some weird local prejudice but if they don't know you, don't bother. read more

came here looking for fabric to sew a bag. we were not greeted upon arrival which was fine... but when we asked for help finding a specific fabric the lady up front was not friendly or helpful and was actually rude when showing us where the fabric was. The store was empty but she immediately rushed off when she took us to the fabric area and was not open to answering the couple questions we had. We visited another store in Pomona shortly after and what a difference in service! They were extremely kind and had a much better variety & customer service. read more

When I show up the ladies in there say it's closed and they heard me calling on the phone but didn't pick up to tell me they're closed. So very disappointed with Sew N Sew. I have a quilt that needs finishing and Shelly said that they have a long arm machine that could finish it. I brought it to them in January 2020 however she said that she could not get to it right away because it was the week before the quilt show in Ontario and they were preparing for it. No problem as I was not in a rush. Well weeks went by and I hear nothing from them. I call them in February and Shelly said the lady who works on the quilt has an order before mine and she would give me a call as soon as she was done. OK. Well in March I still don't hear anything from Shelly and then Covid hits and the store closes. OK by me as I feel my needs can still be met as I don't need to see them face to face and they can finish the work in the isolation that is required. Well so I thought. April, May, June, July and I hear nothing despite me sending emails to find out what is happening. Finally on July 29 I send another email message to them telling Shelly that I just want to come pick up the quilt and find another source to have it finished. On July 30 I go to the store to pick it up only to have Shelly tell me that the quilt was on location in storage and cannot be obtained at the moment. Really? I just drove from Alhambra to pick it up. But the kicker is that Shelly admitted to receiving my email the day before and she chose not to respond to me to say that it would take more time to get it out of storage. How insensitive and rude! On August 1 I drove out there again to pick up my quilt. Shelly didn't even have the nerve to hand it to me personally, instead she had an associate give it to me without any excuse or reason as to why they couldn't do the work as promised. Sew N Sew came as a reference from a trusted friend and after speaking and meeting Shelly I trusted her to finish the quilt. I cannot recommend Sew N Sew because I have found them un-responsive and un-professional despite other positive ratings from other people. read more

Juki serger in for service. After I got it home I found that the housing side door had been broken and glued. Hinge bent and screw missing. Terrible customer service. Sad because they have a wonderful fabric collection and I won't return. read more

I took my embroidery machine to have it serviced in May 2021. Picked it up three weeks later. I brought it back twice, once in June because the issues were not addressed and again in August because the machine froze after I used it once. It was not serviced and/or fixed. So my reason for this review is to share my experience I had with this merchant. I tried to get information on the status of my repair during this 5-month ordeal, which is what any customer would do when sending a machine in for service; i.e., how's it coming along, when will the eta be of it being finished. These are simple questions for a customer. Shelly, the owner, would say, I'll call you back every time. Or my technician will be in at 1:30 and I'll call you back. Well, promise to return calls never happened for week after week. I had to drive down there to find out the status of my service repair. I finally ran out of patience and had to get Brother International involved in getting Shelly to even return my phone calls and my machine fixed and returned to me since she is an authorized seller/service repair dealer for Brother. As soon as Shelly heard Brother was involved, all of a sudden my machine was ready to be picked up. This was August now. Each and every time I picked up my machine it was still filthy. There was sticky tape was affixed on the top of the machine. Dust everywhere. Lint that should have been cleaned was still all over the machine. The bobbin case was never vacuumed even from the three times of bringing it there. The machine was either left on the floor or in a dirty part of their building by the way I received it And that was their service that they charge $100.00 for. I was given a new repair place to take my machine to in Whittier: Bob's Sew N Vac. They've had it for a few days and opened up my machine. They said it was never serviced. It's dirty, grease everywhere, lint everywhere. I'm now paying another service fee, which I don't mind because they are in full communication and are telling me everything about the service. The best thing is I'm getting it back within the week. Do not take your machines for repair to the Sew N Sew. They are not repair technicians like Brother expects. They do not have a full-time repair person as Brother expects. In fact, don't even buy a machine from Shelly. Your best bet is to buy one somewhere else. read more

I have wanted to go here for a while! I have a brother sewing machine and they service them. It is a charming store with an amazing selection of brother parts as well as fabrics! Prices are normally between $8-10 a yard but the quality of the fabric is pretty good. They often have sales which I took advantage of. I went to the sale room and got some great buys on some country style fabrics. It was $4.00 a yard. If you are looking for batiks wow! Also they had a good selection of juvenile fabrics for projects for those special young ones that you love. The service was pretty good. The owner was especially helpful. She was able to fix the problem with my machine pretty quickly. The other small tweak can be done on an appointment based visit while I am in the store. It will also be a pretty inexpensive fix. The downsides I faced were parking and a line at the cutting table. It was sad that they only had one person at the table. I did want to say that I will most likely return especially for their classes! read more

Selection of many diverse collections of quilt quality fabrics. That means the base cotton used to print will have a higher and even thread count. This will be very important for a long life for all sewing projects. Another niche this shop covers is accessory stabilizers for machine embroidery. The staff is very knowledgable and if they don't have the answer they actively seek someone else to help. This shop operates in a boutique fashion so you will have a personal touch but not a typical retail rush to get you to the check out counter. So if you want to run in and out learn to cope. There is one check out and huffing and puffing because you aren't the only customer is silly. The floor plan is not easy as the shop has obviously outgrown their small space. They have grown by taking over adjacent shops very piecemeal fashion. There are stairs, life isn't perfect for all mobility issues. Yet I would gather if a patron needed help the staff seems very accommodating. Please go and explore you should find what you are hunting. read more

I don't have much to say about the store but Do Not buy a Baby Lock Jazz machine. It has nothing but problems with the tension. I was told they change the whole tension system but that must not be true. It breaks needles right and left, breaks the thread and loops on the backside of your quilt. They even gave me a second new machine and it has the same problems. I had a small cheap $100 Singer and is does so much better. It is crazy. They say they stand behind all their machines but a this point I can't get the owner on the phone or she is busy when I come in to see what can be done. Please -do not buy the Baby Lock Jazz. Wonderful store with a plethora of fabrics to choose from and very nice employees, however, when you must wait more than 35 minutes to check out with your selected products something is wrong. Your system for check out stinks. I was there with a friend and put my products back because it took more than 35 minutes for you to get through the 3 customers before me. One woman handling check out is not enough and your system of scanning bolts at the register takes an inordinate amount of time. Why can't the people who cut the material do that so checking out has some efficiency and speed? The owner really needs to rethink her system of checking out customers if you want them to return. It's a shame, because I really like the place, but can't do business with a store that runs so inefficiently. read more

Placed an order online and they didn't have one of the fabrics. Most shops would just fill the order and call it a day. Lynn called to tell me about the out of stock fabric and offered to find a replacement. Shelly sent photos of several fabrics so I was able to make a selection. So thoughtful to take the time to help me with my order. Have never been to the shop but their online service was above and beyond. read more

I got my baby lock BL9! I've been looking for sewing machine everywhere and couldn't find one. This place was able to give me information to all the sewing machines they have. However, just a reminder that the physical store is close and I have to call them to get information about machines that they have available. Also, just be patient to get your orders and they will get back to you as soon as they can. Overall, I am satisfied. read more

If I could give them "Zero" stars I would. Last July, my mother and I dropped off a quilt top to be finished. She spent 3 years hand sewing all the hexagons on that piece. We instructed the lady who claimed to be "in charge" to have someone there pick out a complimentary backing for it and do the quilting. We told them that we trusted their judgement to make a nice color choice. We waited and waited for a call. In November we followed up, and were told that the quilt hadn't been started yet because they were "waiting for us to call them and tell them what color backing we wanted". Again, I instructed them to chose a color and finish the quilt. Today when we called to follow up again, we were given the run around. First, we were told that they didn't have a quilt under my mothers name. Then we were told that we might be calling the wrong store. Finally when I got angry, I was told that they would look for it and call me back. They didn't call. I showed up at the store with a picture of the quilt top, and asked for it back. The same lady we gave it to in July retrieved it and said that they were just getting ready to start it. Unbelievable and unexceptionable. I don't know how they can run a business. read more

It started back on this past Wednesday, I am in search for a serger for my daughter (Christmas Present) when I called and asked if I came in, would someone be able to assist me, I have no knowledge in sewing, they told me Friday would work best for Shelly, since she sells the machines and knows all about them. I wait till Friday, when I arrived I waited a bit till I was able to ask for Shelly. I was asked what for, I explained and the lady proceeded to ask me what my price range was, when I told her she made a cringe face and said "no" No, I can't talk to Shelly? No you don't have any machines? My price wasn't set in stone , I was looking for help as I stated on the phone and when I approached the women. I waited 30 minutes!!! 30 minutes while she looked for Shelly and apparently Shelly looked for a machine. She never came to greet me, ask me if I had a brand preference or ANYTHING I kept waiting. I asked the lady who I initially approached if I should come back because I hade been waiting at least 15 minutes by then, she said she's looking for the machine didn't you hear her tell me? Seriously? No I didn't! And why would she be up on a ladder searching for something before discussing it with me!?!? I kept patiently waiting so I could speak with Shelly. She never came. Another women came in and happened to be shopping for a server as well and all of the sudden 2 workers had a ton of knowledges!!! They were all laughing and talking about machines and what she needs and doesn't need and good and bad brands I felt like an idiot standing in that little store waiting. Then the worker and the customer went to look at machine things and talk shop in the other room. And I kept standing there like an idiot, I finally left after 30 minutes and the worker standing there smirked at me and said are you waiting for someone Really!?!?!?!? I said I don't know what's going on I'm just going to leave She said ok, come back any time (smirking) I really don't know how women can treat one another that way. I wish someone would have helped me pick a machine out and explain why this is better than that I would love to support small businesses. I Love this store! I was shopping around for a new machine, the owner Shelly, sat down explained all the features and then had a fabulous price and I got a one on one lesson on how to use the machine. The store is amazing with several rooms of fabrics I've taken 2 quilt classes. Pat the teacher is amazing The people that work there are SO helpful My only complaint is they have so many wonderful projects you can do. They have tons of fabric but little help to cut any. I'm always waiting. Then to check out is another 25 minute process. The dear old woman at the register is slower than a snail. This is not the place to come if you know what you want and are pressed for time. I would rather drive an hour away and buy nice fabric that to set foot in See N Sew again. read more

The Sew and Sew is definitely a well stocked quilt shop and one can pretty much find any type of fabric. This is about the only positive thing I can say about this shop. I was extremely irritated today when I was at Road to California and saw on display at their booth a copy of a quilt that a family member had made and shared with them. I understand that copying is a form of flattery, but this quilt was almost an exact copy! This would be ok if my family member was asked if they could use her design, but this was not the case. Also, to hang it at the show as if it was an original design of theirs was just tacky!!! This was extremely unprofessional on the part of The Sew and Sew. Very difficult and cumbersome shopping. They have a great selection but you can't get a real shopping experience without touching and feeling the fabric. Employees will bring out what you think you want after you have to give very detailed description of what you want. Employees were rude during parts of the shopping, although I did witness good customer service from others. It has been 3 years since I have been here...and nothing in customer service has changed. The cashier, MEGAN for such a young lady has to learn to smile and take her "chip" off her shoulder. After spending a $100 here..didn't even earn a thank you for her. I was participating in the 2015 Socal Quilt Run this store earned a complaint...as part of the run spending $15 earned you a party prize..theirs was actually a "plastic key ring" booby prize..gave it back just junk. At least others tried..gave recyclable bags with their name on it. Only nice part of visit which was only reason I spent $100 was Larene & Lee (not employees) who were demoing there..bought their items... Sorry to leave such a negative feedback but it was earned. They have everything from seeing tools, variety of fabrics, fun sewing classes and etc. They let me borrowed the sewing machine with no extra charge after I bough the Muslin fabric.
