Staff are helpful and welcoming and prices are pretty decent for the quality. I came during the holiday season and the vibes were festive and fun! I walked away with some cute and unique vintage Christmas decorations that my cats won't be able to destroy lol - as well as some soup starters that have all been absolutely delicious so far! They've been so good, in fact, that I scoured the web and found the company online so I can order from them again in the future (it's Anderson House Frontier Soups - they use minimal all natural ingredients and have a wide variety of flavors - fantastic soups!). I also snagged a dip mix and they had locally made honeys, jams, candies, and even fresh gourmet coffee beans and an antique grinder. And if you love to decorate with any rooster or chicken themed items, Shabbyology is your jam! If my kitchen wasn't already packed full of rooster-themed decor, I would've walked away with so much more. They also host occasional themed "sip and shop" nights where they offer entertainment and various drinks and nibbles while you browse. They have a digital newsletter to keep you informed of upcoming events and classes so be sure to sign up! Their location is a tad strange for the genre of store - they're found in a large industrial complex and their shop blends in among all the beige, nondescript buildings. I work in the entertainment industry- specifically, with costumes, so for both work and for my own leisure, I like to take the time to explore the various secondhand stores around the LA area. For the clothing options you get at URM, I would say that this place is definitely a hidden gem. One of the SGV's best kept secrets for sure. They've got all sorts of styles, from alternative - gothic - academia - "clean girl" - club wear - rave gear - etc, etc. I'm a person who prefers to shop secondhand, and recently, I've found that most of my wardrobe consists of pieces I got from URM. Neat! The union rescue mission also does quite a lot for the homeless population in Los Angeles county, as well as offering really great products, clothing AND knickknacks AND furniture all at reasonable prices. They also very often have sales of up to 50% off almost everything in store. I do recommend following them on Instagram, because they update their daily hours and post dates/times of specific sales. If they have a highly coveted piece of furniture or clothing available, they'll also post pictures on Instagram as well. All in all this is a great thrift store, especially if you're someone who likes a unique piece of clothing. The work they do for the community is also wonderful. A person asked and she told them a higher price than what it actually was. So rude and very unprofessional. Smh. Not nice to screw people over who are already spending money! The young man working the other register was polite and nice though. This place has a pretty wide selection and good discount days but I just can't get over the fact that an employee would lie like that.

Consignment is such a convenient alternative to photographing, listing, storing, meeting buyers, and shipping items yourself. The store handles all of that work and also has to be selective about what it accepts and what it believes will sell. If someone feels their items are worth more than the amount offered, they are always free to decline the offer and sell them directly through OfferUp, eBay, or Facebook Marketplace. No one is required to accept an offer, and I don't think a small business should receive a poor review simply because an item was declined or someone hoped to receive more money. The owner works incredibly hard, the store is adorable, and there are always great finds at affordable prices. I recommend Happy Hangers to everyone!

The newer shop is filled with even more treasures than I could've imagined. The prices for earrings, scarves, clothing, and accessories are so reasonable and profits go to helping artists around the world in impoverished regions. The packaging they add to each item is absolutely beautiful and so unique.
