My family and I stopped here for breakfast and I am so happy we did! Such a cute, and very clean place. The service was like going to a family gathering. Such nice ladies! The food was spectacular, the coffee was amazing and my kids had such a great time playing board games. Love love love this place. We pretty much ordered everything and it was all so good and fresh. Visited The Shack on Monday morning for the first time! The Shack is a delightful family-owned gem located in St. Marks. It has such a warm atmosphere and decor! We were welcomed by several staff members as we ordered a delicious cup of coffee and browsed the surprisingly varied menu. The delicious food came to the table quickly with a nice presentation and was served hot. In addition to being a great little coffee shop, The Shack also sells wine and beer as well as some on the go necessitates!! IA great place to hang out, read and relax while having great coffee! What a cool place to stop and enjoy a cup of coffee with friends and family! The dining area is fairly small but there were not very many folks there on a rainy Sunday morning. We had a group of 4 adults and 3 children which is probably not typical for the coffee shop. But they had plenty of room for our group and after placing our order at the counter, we received our specialty drinks and sandwiches within a few minutes. One order was delivered incorrectly but they corrected it quickly without incident. The Monkey toast, Avocado toast, Grilled Cheese and Avery Melt was delicious. Highly recommend any one of these options! We also had a breakfast bowl that was less impressive and I'd say skip this and go for the items that are so much better. The Shack is pretty far from the beaten track and so it was unexpectedly great. Not too busy this morning at 8am during offseason, but they were still able to make a good coffee. The barista slinging coffee didn't know how to make a cortado but he managed to whip up a good latte while still serving up coffee and breakfast sandwiches for other guests. I know this place has a few disclaimers about the potential wait times for your food, as it's all "freshly made to order!" Or something like that, but it took around 40 minutes to get one breakfast sandwich, and it was just fine. And it wasn't due to them wanting to give us all our food at the same time, the rest of my group to wait 10 more minutes for their food. Oh, and they got one of our orders wrong. At least the tea was good. read more

on Memorial Day weekend, we rented a lovely vrbo in St Marks Fl, stopped in at The Shack Cafe in St Marks, for a take out, biggest mistake ever... not only was food HORRIBLE ( not cooked all the way) but the workers \ Owner Tina were HORRIBLE as well: let me explain: an egg cheese wrapped in a tortilla, simple right,, the eggs were not fresh, cubed freeze dried eggs, yes cubed, cheese cold Not melted, tortilla was cold . not edible . i decided to return it , i figured that they can't correct it if not brought to their attention,, boy was I wrong! Tina the owner says to me that she was highly offended that I would return it, instead of her apologizing , expecting me to apologize. then her worker behind the counter flat out calls me a Bitch. I was speechless. I have visited this cafe under the previous owners, their food ,their service, were great. make no mistake, The good reviews were under the previous owner's. please BEWARE, enter at your own risk! I'll add that I know some the locals, visited them while I was in St. Marks ,told them of experience, they told me ,they stop going there, because it's gone downhill it's a shame cause it use to be a great hang out,, we all wish the previous owners would come back. This is a quaint little cafe on a cul de sac next to a fun little shop. It's a perfect bike ride from the town of St Marks or the Wakulla Station park, right along the Tallahassee St Marks Rail Trail. The coffee is delicious, and so is the avocado toast. They have a nice selection of food and beverage. I plan to visit again! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I love supporting small businesses but this place is awful. Absolute terrible service. Sat there for 35 minutes for an avocado toast and never got it. Tried to ask for a refund but never even got acknowledged from any of the workers. Had to walk away. Never returning. read more

The service was horrible. The food was just ok. It took us over 30 minutes to get our sandwiches and we were the only 4 people in the place. Three kids running the place never came back and checked on us. We had to go ask for drink refills and get our own napkins. read more

This was an amazing place with great food and customer service. I can't speak for the food anymore because we were completely ignored during our last visit. The Shack - A coffee boutique This is now a brick & mortar shop. It is open 7 days a week from 6 am til 6 pm! They have excellent home made baked goods, coffees, breakfast, lunch and soups. Special fritattas daily. The owners and the service are all friendly. This is a great place to stop for sustenance when visiting the St Marks refuge area. Let's all help them be a success. read more

I stopped by this place this morning. I think the circle is inviting and wished there were other restaurants in the circle. You have a feeling that the area is clean. I had great veggie quiche and a mocha. I liked the staff. I am staying in Perry (nothing there) so not sure I will be back but very inviting. Thinking Hampton Inn should have built in St Marks rather than Perry. So much more going on here in St Marks. Wildlife Refuge and Lighthouse is extremely impressive! read more

This is a great stop for all! In a quaint little town, this is the perfect place to connect and stop for a wonderful coffee/meal. The staff is very accommodating and will truly make a heartwarming experience. For any Tallahassee Coffee lovers-they use Lucky Goat and have a great selection of flavors/drinks to choose from. We heard the Shack was under new ownership. We were definitely impressed with the food and the atmosphere: if you are looking for an excellent place to eat with out going to Tallahassee this is definitely the place. Some of our fellow diners made the drive from Tallahassee and said The Shack has become a destination for them in St. Marks. read more

Was traveling through the area and decided to stop for lunch. The owners were working behind the counter. They were extremely friendly and take such pride in their business. The coffee was fresh and hot. The Italian sandwich is the best I've had on fresh focaccia and in house made pesto. We enjoyed it so much we passed by again a few days later. Tried the Cuban sandwich and it was the best I've had again. Fresh bread and wasn't dry like so many I've tried. I'd recommend stopping by and sitting at the counter. Went through this area after camping and this cafe was our savior! Most delicious coffee and food it was exactly what we needed and the owners were extremely nice and welcoming to us. Presentation was on a bed of chopped iceberg lettuce, no side plates were offered, and we used our single paper napkin to keep our silverware off the table and wipe our mouths. No linen napkins. I did surf n turf, medium well which most kitchens struggle with. No different here, cooked well all the way through. Baked potato was genuinely cool to the touch. Collard greens were excessively seasoned with vinegar. Not good at all. The presentation was shockingly bad, one side on my plate had a rim of black pepper, the other side had a rim of butter from the shrimp, that's my best guess. Shockingly bad. My wife ordered ribeye medium rare. The outer part was well done and the inside was very rare, cook temperature way too high. Baked potato cool to the touch again. From my seat the kitchen looked chaotic and undisciplined, no quality control at the pass at all, no floor manager present anywhere to be seen. Sometimes my view was blocked by employees clocking in to work. This table should be the last to be assigned period. Non culinary folks could find easy ways to improve this place, linen napkins, side plates, hot food, precision cooking etc. The lack of oversight for the food preparation and presentation of the food killed the experience for sure, no supervision or management of the kitchen and food.
