I was not impressed with this place. I've been to El Jalisco closer to downtown Tallahassee that was pretty good. That was years ago though. Crawfordville is limited with its restaurant selection so there are not many choices in the area. The location is good in that respect and they have a great big parking lot to cater a lot of people. We walked in and the floors had recently been mopped and were so slippery that we had to be extremely careful not to slip. It was as if someone mopped the floors with way too much soap in the bucket. When I go for Mexican food, I love the free chips and salsa but the salsa at this location was so bad. It tasted like puréed tomatoes with no other flavor. Thankfully there were a couple hot sauces on the table so I was able to doctor it up a bit. The queso dip was delicious and the chips themselves were good. I ordered the Mexican chicken which was just ok. The refried beans lacked flavor, and the chicken was dry. I'm used to La fiesta (which unfortunately closed) where they sauté the chicken with the pico de gallo but this one was strips Of chicken with a little pico de gallo spooned on top after the fact. Our service was good and the ambience of the restaurant is nice. They have a stage for live music on the weekends and a nice big bar so I'm sure the atmosphere is a vibe on the right night. I'd be curious to order something different the next time, as I'm sure I'll be back at some point the next time I'm in town. read more

This place used to be great. It's gone downhill recently. A GOOD margarita is small and expensive. I've been sick off their food twice and the last time was yesterday Feb. 13, 2026. Service at the bar was lacking and there were not really a lot of people at the bar and three bartenders. The food was pretty lame too! The bright colored walls and tabletops are so beautiful. The lighting is perfect for this cozy little restaurant. We were quickly seated and our drink orders were brought to us promptly. We ordered taco salads to go and the waitress was so kind to bring us everything in its own container so nothing got soggy. The food was UHMAZING and even though we were starving when we came in.., we were unable to even come close to finishing. The pricing is more than fair for the amount of food we got!! This is a real authentic Mexican restaurant not a "chain" make believe. The food tasted fresh and really savory. The service staff was very helpful and prompt. And the two for one margaritas were a hit with my wife. The venue is clean and very spacious along with the fact that is decorated to make one feel like we are really in Mejico. read more

This was a huge restaurant, so social distancing was easy to accomplish. All of the employees were masked, but we did see some patrons maskless - and far from us. The menu has many items to choose from, but Monday is 99¢ tacos, so I got 3 beef. You can also get bean or chicken. They come with lettuce and cheese. Husband gave me his guacamole, tomatoes and sour cream from his classic fajitas. He kept the beans and rice. Both of our entrees were hot and tasty. Husband said his chicken was pictured as long strips, which would have made it easier to make his fajitas. He got short pieces of chicken which made the fajita bulkier. But it WAS good. I don't recall pictures of my tacos. Just lettuce and cheese would have been good, but the guacamole and sour cream made them exceptional. Three were more filling than anticipated. Two would have been plenty! Husband said he had way too much food. Our server was pleasant, efficient, and quick. When he noticed our drinks were down to a third, he picked them up and refilled them. When I was done, he whisked my plate away. He didn't take my husband's plate, but he was done, even though he didn't eat everything. We really wanted the check dropped off, and it was slow to come. We have eaten here many times and enjoyed it. There BOGOs on drinks Everyday are the Best. We usually go mid afternoon and the chips taste like they are freshly make they are warm and chrispy. A couple of times we have come in the early evening and they can get so busy you get overlooked for refill drinks, and the chips then tend to taste older. read more

The restaurant is well lit, we were seated immediately, but had to wait for a while before a waitress came to take our order. The chips were not fresh, they tasted like maybe a club style bag chip and the cheese sauce was definitely out of a can. I ordered the Pollo Asado. It came on a bed of raw onion, with microwaved chicken and flour tortillas. The rice had no flavor at all. We ordered a chicken quesadilla and enchilada which both lacked seasoning and flavor. I love my Mexican food but my SO can take it or leave it so when he says "what about El Jaliscos?", I am all about it!! We enjoyed Mexican chicken (grilled on a bed of guacamole salad - no beans and rice) and chicken fajitas. Both meals were on point! I'm not to proud to say I ate every bit of the Mexican Chicken I wanted to lick the plate but I retrained to save my SO from embarrassment! We also enjoyed the 2 for 1 draft beer. I couldn't drink my second and told them to treat someone at the bar. This your typical American Mexican restaurant. I dine alone inside. All staff were wearing masks. I'm not much of drinker anymore but I need a treat the lemon drop martini was absolutely fantastic!! Because this place is so near to me I'll most likely be back just for this drink. The food was tasty, hot, good portions. I had make your own combo with chicken taco ( super tender and moist chicken), pork tamale (fair) and beef Enchilada (well flavored my favorite). Nothing wrong with the food. Nothing special just all American Mexican food. No fresh veggies except a little bit of wilted lettuce on the taco. A few draw backs for me were the Music was super loud. I could barely hear the wait staff. The service not so great. But I know many places are having very short staffed. But please at least welcome me. The hostess and waitstaff barely spoke to me. It was slow to come get me started with drinks and such. After I order the food came super fast. The temperature of the restaurant super super cold. Even though parking lot was pretty full the restaurant itself was pretty empty. Good easy parking. They do have outdoor seating. Its not covered or anything. I visited El Jalisco last night after seeing the $3 quesadilla special on their sign. I opted for the birria tacos instead. I've had really good birria tacos before so I had high expectations. Unfortunately these tacos fell short. The tortillas were floppy and not crisped up like they're supposed to be. They barely put any cheese on them and hardly any meat. She left the menus on the table in the booth and was gone before we reached the booth. My arthritic knees dont fo booths. So we moved to a table.
