I love getting breakfast at The Shack! If it's the weekend you may want to arrive 15 minutes earlier than you were planning to account for the waitlist to be seated, but believe me, it's worth the wait. A wonderful place to grab a bite with family or friends, the staff is so kind and attentive. Not the sort of place where your coffee never gets refilled. Was disappointed. We ordered (a) the shanty and (b) sausage and cheese omelette. Husband's eggs were very runny. My omelette came out without sausage. How does the chef and server not realize that sausage was missing? They remade the omelette and I believe they may have microwaved the potatoes so they were watery. I know the staff was working so hard (people were running around) but the food could have been better. Pancakes were really good!!! read more

This was our first visit, gaff is friendly, and efficient. Food is delicious with generous portions, love that the kids meals also include a dessert and for 7.49 can't beat that. In previous visits to "The Shack" we were quite satisfied with the food and service; NOT today though! Looked forward to some delicious blueberry pancakes and just delighted to find them on the menu! Upon their arrival, I slathered on butter and maple syrup but with the first bite I KNEW that things were not going well as they literally lacked ANY taste at sll, I mean "FLAT"...so disappointed, I HAD to let our lovely waitress, Lisa, know that these were a complete "FAIL", she was quite gracious and fixed the bill but...so disappointed, I hope they fix the recipe, will not give them a second try...sorry "The Shack" that this was a 2 STAR experience! read more

Prices were varying from super reasonable to a little high but overall I would say they are good. Staff was fine, normally I'd expect slightly more friendly service at a local spot like this but they seemed to just want to get their jobs done which is fine! Did a search for a dine while driving back from Foxwoods...excellent choice. First sign of this: line to get inside. Service was very friendly and welcoming. When I told our waitress that we found them on Yelp she responded: "Welcome! We're so happy to have you!" Had the Texas toast w/sausage gravy and the Homey Fries. Pulling into parking lot I said we don't have to eat here but we walked into a waiting line, only took a few minutes to get seated. Wait staff was pleasant and friendly. The Shack is definitely an amazing go to in town whether it's for an extremely filling breakfast, lunch or dinner! They do currently offer in person dining, but honestly I've been craving some breakfast for dinner and have been putting my order in online for pickup in the restaurant. Their system is really easy to use, and you get a text as soon as it is ready! While it's not the same to be able to eat in, the bacon and eggs from here still taste amazing at home! I've been to Waterford's Shack. This Shack is pretty much the same - solid breakfast menu. It's nothing fancy but they do it right. There is large portions and the wait staff have always been friendly. I ordered the sausage biscuit for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well seasoned and tasty. My brother-in-law loves breakfast and has ordered the sausage biscuit as take-out every time he's in town. So, if you like sausage biscuits, give it a go. read more

Great food, large portions and they never let us down. When every we are in the Mystic/Uncasville area we always visit the Shack for breakfast or lunch. There Corn Bread is to die for. They also have the best home fries n sausage gravy & biscuits. Not to mention all there desserts. The wait sometimes to seat is so worth it. Me and some friends stopped here while staying in Old Lyme for a weekend last summer. My friend convinced us of how great The Shack was and that his family always stops there for breakfast when they around the area. So we decided to give it a shot for ourselves! So ventured out to make it there with time to spare considering they only serve breakfast and close at 1pm on Sundays. They was around a 35 minutes to be seated. You could definitely tell it was a local, family owned favorite of the town. I ordered the banana walnut waffle, it was a fresh baked Belgian waffle topped with fresh banana slices, whipped cream & walnuts, yummmmmmmmmmmy! The waffle was fluffy and the banana was fresh, I ate every bite. My friend ordered "the mess", and well its exactly what is sounds like, a plate of home fries, topped with scrambled eggs, ham, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausage & onions covered in Monterey Jack cheese & bacon oh yea and come with a side of their grilled corn bread. The serving size was crazy! My friend was only able to eat half, he ended up taking the rest home and indulging in it that night. They are very good at moving the line outside the door and we were seated within 10 minutes. Cute and pretty clean place to dine. There was 4 of us dining and we decided to order 3 plates to share. We ordered the mess, the kitchen sink, and a corned beef wrap. The mess was very good and the favorite amongst our party. The kitchen sink was tasty as well, both very filling plates to order so make sure you're hungry! The corned beef wrap was nice and simple, just corned beef, with eggs, and potato. The meal came with a side of corn bread that was amazing! It's nicely toasted and has a great crispy top with salted whipped butter on the side. That was definitely MY favorite item! Out of the 3 locations, I like Groton the best! Great staff and willing to please. East Lyme on the other hand, the staff was too busy chit, chatting among themselves to pay attention to what was needed at the table/s. Great breakfast, I didn't try a lunch or dinner.
