Personally, I would much rather mom and pop shops over corporate owned businesses. So this just being a small local business already gave it 5 stars from me! The food was truly amazing, it was like home cooking at its finest! The woman at the register was very patient while waiting for us to decide what we wanted, as we weren't from the area, nor familiar with the food they had to offer. She was so kind while taking our order, and serving us in the dining area. Another woman was kind enough to bring crayons and paper out for my 3 year old to color on while we waited for our sandwiches(: The place feels like home when you walk in, it's bright, warm, cozy, and smells like great food and baked goods that's done with love and care. Village Cafe is a humble spot with breakfast foods that will leave you satisfied. The parking lot is large, but the cafe not so much. When I ordered my food, a bunch of people were waiting in line, and half of the seats were already taken. I had a mild panic over how everybody would be able to sit down indoors. I know that there are customers who order to-go, but there also could've been a possibility that some wanted to sit down & eat, but felt compelled to order out because of the tight space. That would be my only complaint, because everything else was very pleasant. They have a chalkboard above the cashier that lists all their items, but you can ask for a paper copy too. I had their two eggs & cheese sandwich with a sausage patty with bottled orange juice. The food was tasty, and I would eat here again. Now, if I'll stay to eat is another story! read more

Best Gyro I have had in a long time. Honestly delicious. Highly recommend. The soup was hot. Really hot. But the broth was delicious and filled with chicken and noodles. SO and I went on a rainy Friday morning while vacationing in the area. This place is very close to the hotel we stayed at and honestly we wish we found/tried it sooner. Everything we ordered was fresh, quality, and cooked and seasoned perfectly. We both got omelets - SO got the Village w/hash browns (more like homefries) and said they were delicious! I got the Greek Veggie and passed on potatoes bc of other reviews on here, but I wish I didn't. They absolutely were delicious, perfect amount of salt and seasoning and while there are crunchy and soft bits in the mixture, it definitely was not soggy like others have said. SO got lox + cream cheese on an everything bagel, no red onion or capers but did get tomato and said the sprinkle of dill on top was a pleasant addition. I had them grill + butter a cranberry muffin which was a great choice. I feel like anything you get here would be delicious. If we were locals this would def be a frequent stop. As far as timing from ordering to receiving plates, it took maybe 5min? or somewhere on the lower end btwn 5-10min, but I'm not upset about it. Not sure what kind of time delay others were commenting on or upset about, but for the quality and quantity of food we ordered, I saw no problem at all. People were coming in and picking up boxes of "To Go" orders, so the kitchen staff is obviously always moving and cranking meals out. Inside it is on the smaller side, however there are maybe 6-8 tables as well as 2 rows of counter-window seats. Likely not ideal for a group of 8 to expect to come in and sit down, but couples or small groups would be just fine. read more

First time here. Had the Gyro platter with hand cut fries to go. Thought about the salad instead of the fries. Glad I stuck with the fries. They were crispy, not greasy at all. It's expensive if you get the breakfast sandwich with " hash browns". However, the real problem is they aren't hash browns, they're home fries. A hash brown is deep fried, crispy on the outside, these were home fries and mushy ones at that. The bagels were good, order was ready on time. Bacon and egg were standard. My family and I went here for our first time and happened to be during COVID. With that said, the inside was closed for dining and the outside is open to eat. The Cafe was also doing take out and there's ton of parking. My family and I were immediately greeted by a woman who was very sweet. The menu had breakfast, lunch and also looked like they had some Greek options on another menu board. Fresh pastries were also located in a glass container. We received our food and I had ordered the grilled chicken with pesto and peppers, my kids received the grilled cheese with bacon and my hubby received the roast beef melt. All orders came with fries or a salad. Everything tasted fresh and in house, especially down to the fries. The woman who took our order came out to made sure everything was okay and had to say she was on top of everything even if it was busy. I was in the area looking for a place to get a quick lunch, and decided to try the Village Cafe based on all the five-star reviews it's gotten. I hate to disagree. My lunch was awful. Since they serve breakfast all day, I decided to get eggs with hash browns and wheat toast. First the good news: the eggs were just fine. The toast wasn't wheat bread, more like Texas toast with some seeds in it. I thought it might be rye bread but it wasn't flavorful enough for that. Still edible, just not what I wanted. The hash browns were inedible. Burned, greasy, and with an off taste that made me think the fry oil had been used for something else first, or was going rancid. I threw them out. I'm not a local, so I wouldn't be back in any case, but if I'm in the area again I won't be coming here. read more

Met my niece and her new baby for lunch. The Village Cafe was a new place for all of us. What a find! First impression walking in: spotless and really put together well. Not huge but a good size for a breakfast/lunch spot. Quaint. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Helped us get settled with a newborn without us having to ask. The food was excellent and the bagels are straight from NYC. We had breakfast sandwiches, a BLT, authentic NY/NJ coffee cake and a fantastic thick rice pudding. Sadly I live in Florida but my niece and family live in town and this is likely to be a regular stop for them. It certainly will be for me when I get back in town. Well done. read more

We were extremely pleased with the service and the breakfast exceeded expectations including a top grade gyro (available but not on breakfast menu) as well as bagel sandwich and Greek pastry. We had gone to the local "institution" The Shack the day before - which was very good - and passed this place early when not busy and thought we would try - and so glad we did!! The chicken souvlaki and gyros are the best! The fries are well seasoned, the tzatziki is creamy, and the pita is delicious. Since finding this place, I've gone about once a week. The service is friendly and thoughtful! The place is so unassuming from the road, so don't sleep on this place! At this point it is pretty much take away as it's too chilly for outdoor dining and their small dining area has been closed due to Covid (not sure if it will become available with the colder temperatures outside).
