After an extremely disappointing breakfast at Foxwoods the day before we decided to try Dean's on our way home based on its Yelp rating. Let me tell you, 4.4 stars does not do this place and this crew justice. Everything about the experience delivered aces! Truly, one of my best out-of-the-way experiences I have ever had. We would recommended to this place by a person we picked up an item from in Griswold Connecticut. It was all they said, and then some the food was cooked fresh. Everything was made in house except for the hollandaise sauce and their corn beef hash. Everything we got was absolutely delicious as you can see it's big portions that you cannot finish in the restaurant and you must take home which, even though we are at least an hour or so from home we are still taking him home and our cooler. The servers. Name was Sam. She was wonderful. She was very gracious to us. She explained every single thing on the menu that we could not understand what it was. I was very impressed that they have some different and out-of-the-way things at most of the restaurants don't have like they have homemade crêpes they have loaded pancakes or French toast with bacon and apples, etc.. They also have homemade sausage gravy any of these things whatsoever. One thing my thought was wonderful was the fact that they also carry homemade country fried steak for breakfast so pretty much the next time we come this way we will probably take a detour and stop here for breakfast or lunch. They are only open till 2 PM. Monday through Friday I'm so glad they were open today as we could not find any place else after spending our anniversary at the casino for breakfast but they serve breakfast and lunch right up until 2 o'clock. It's definitely an Al A spot but let me tell you something it's definitely worth driving that little bit out of the way for the breakfast that we got today. I didn't get one picture, but the food here was phenomenal. I had a pastrami and egg sandwich, that was off the chart awesome. A perfect portion for me, the service was fantastic half a mile. The staff was very friendly. We set up at the counter and it was like an small town. Everybody knows everybody, cute little breakfast place. First time visiting. The food was good. The service was good. The atmosphere is very "local" which is nice. My only complaint are the hidden charges. I did not notice on the menu or any signs that stated these additional fees- I don't think there are any notifications. They charge an "inflation fee" of about 3% AND another fee if you pay with a credit card. Of course you don't find out until after you have eaten and get the bill. It's a bit underhanded, shadyand deceptive. Just raise the price of the food to compensate and don't charge EXTRA fees. It's the principal of it. So until they change their deceptive fees, I won't go back. read more

I was throwing an event out in this neck of the woods last month so I came here for a planning meeting over the summer. Hands down my favorite breakfast place in the area. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is on point! By far the best omelette I have had in this area. I LOVE my western omelettes when the ham is not fatty and does not have the skin on it. That ham grossed me out personally. Their ham they used is not that style thank goodness! I find this to be the premier breakfast spot in the area. I initially went here due to the high Yelp scores and have gone back many times since because it earns them. While there aren't a lot of seats in this place, nor is there much parking (any?) as it relies on the little bit of sidewalk in front to be clear to be able to come here, the service is fast, and friendly, as is the food. I personally love their country fried steak and the variety of home fries that is grilled with onions. To top it off, the prices are fairly reasonable as well, so it won't break the bank to give this place a visit for yourself, which I highly recommend. read more

This was disappointing. The reviews led me to believe this would be worth my Sunday morning visit (every Sunday I venture to a new place!). When I came in I was told to grab whatever seat I wanted, since I'm alone I took a seat at the bench. I'm not sure what I did wrong but the waitress didn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies. Coffee was immediate which is nice, and before I could even pick up the menu I got a somewhat inpatient "do you need more time?" Um yes it's been 45 seconds and I haven't even touched the menu that's still sitting in the menu holder. So I tried to pick something out quickly because she seemed busy. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes to give my order. A little odd, but ok. I ordered eggs Benedict and chose grilled home fries with onions. I waited about another 20 minutes for the food... not a terrible wait but it felt like 45 mins. When I got my breakfast the food was burnt and cold. The English muffin was burnt to a crisp on the edges and the hollandaise sauce and home fries were barely luke warm. Maybe I'm used to farm to table but the muffin tasted like it was frozen and thawed (then burnt) and the hollandaise was not what I'm used to - really yellow and a bit runny. I didn't even finish half of my meal. A gentleman came in after I ordered, sat down next to me, had his coffee and order taken, and food by the time I walked out the door. Took a motorcycle ride from MA to CT for a breakfast run. Found Deans Corner Restaurant listed on Yelp so we went for it. The restaurant was clean with plenty of tables and a small sit down counter. Our server Micaela greeted us with a nice smile and was happy. We each had omelettes the house omelette and Tomato bacon and cheese both very good They offer traditional tasty home fries with onions or a small fried potato style choice Coffee refills were only a smile away. Wonderful!!!!! We stayed at Foxwoods to see Jerry Seinfeld last night and yelped to see where there would be a good breakfast place on the way home this morning. Dean's Corner came up. It is roughly a mile from 395, so not really out of the way. It was so delicious. In fact, I am still there, eating my breakfast and had to write a review immediately. I had a breakfast sandwich on a homemade biscuit with the deep fried home fries. So good. My husband had eggs sunny side, with bacon and toast. Also delicious. The coffee was excellent! The service was impeccable! Micaela was very pleasant, efficient and responsive to refilling our coffee, etc. For a Sunday morning (around 10am) it is busy, but we were still able sit immediately. The only negative is that it is so far from where we live! I would come here a lot if it wasn't 90 minutes away!! read more

Dean's Corner lived up to their reviews. A little friendly diner in a convenient spot with good food. The staff was in love with my little girl, and she drank it up! The coffee was better than average along with the toast, and the home fries left little to be desired. My boys loved the pancakes, and the egg scramble was a refreshing alternative to the usual fare. Easily the best reason to go here is the attentive waitstaff. They were friendly, on point, and even handled letting people know that they were closed with grace. Stopped in for breakfast and we were HUNGRY!!! Coffee four solid stars - fast service, really good wait staff and high quality, large servings! I had the shaved steak omelette with added jalapeños (3 egg) and it was delicious, and barely finished it - the home fries were crisp and flavorful. Ask for real butter here, they will default to margarine if you don't! My wife had the lobster omelette special (11.95 included coffee) and loved it! Dean corner has become our family favorite place to go. The staff are so friendly. The food are great . so fair there wasn't a dish I order didn't like about. I order the egg beniton which wasn't on the menu n strawberries, banana filling with chocolate crepes that wasn't on the menu as well n they have no problem make it n it taste good.
