Shade Store SoHo NY sold me this Roman shade. Immediately, the string broke. They replaced it twice. It continues to break. So is it the quality of the materials they use or the quality of their work which results in the shade not being able to operate properly from installation? Terrible customer service. I loved my shades but the customer service is terrible. We bought shades for our new house and before we hung them up, we had the change one of the windows and the shades no longer fit by less than a half inch. I emailed Anthony 3 times to see if there was anything we can do and he never even responded. I'm FULLY aware these are custom shades and probably nothing they could do but i just spent a couple thousand dollars with them and no one can even respond to my email? The Shade Store might strike you as "pricey" at first, but for once, you get your money's worth!!! I had an issue with a shade I ordered from them some 6 years ago and called them to see what could be done about it. Not only did the sale's person who answered my call do some research to find my original order (Bravo Paula in Portchester), but she told me to my amazement, that they would send someone to fix the issue "at no cost to me"!!! Does that even still exist? It was easy to set up this appointment, and the person who came for the repair (Adrian) was punctual, professional and very competent. Stay away from getting wood blinds from the shade store. They sold me the wrong color and told me after the purchase., that the color wood was discontinued! They made three set of blinds , they all fit terribly. The last ones had holes in the wood slates and came without the ribbon that was ordered. They ignored my phone calls and letters. I would not recommend them at all. They are totally incompetent. And they could care less about their clients. read more

The product and service was great. I ordered motorized shades for my apartment and I absolutely love them. They are convenient and beautiful. Well worth the investment. After several months one of strings loosened up and the shade could not advance downward on one side. This was because they were hitting the cushions installed after the shades were installed. I called for service. The salesperson facilitated an earlier appointment for the repair and wait for it .........there was no charge for service! The repairman was very knowledgable, competent and polite. He fixed the lose string and adjusted the stop point for the shade. The shade was working perfectly again! We couldn't be happier! For 2 years, we have had 7 perfect shades from the Shade Store but, with our recent house renovation and new windows, the shades were now too wide. So I emailed the Shade Store to ask if the shades could be refitted. To my utter surprise, I was told that new shades would be made and would be free. Free? But that's what happened. A shade installer came, measured and, in a few weeks, new shade replacements arrived! They were installed in an hour or two, and fit perfectly. We are so pleased. No charge at all! Has anyone ever shopped at The Shade Store ? OMG - the totally worse experience! I ordered shade for 3 rooms in December. That was 16 shades and 11 valances. There were so many errors that I have more shades and valance that are wrong than correct ones. This is a project that should have been completed in Mid- January. Here it is almost June and they still can't get it right! How are they still in business? The customer service is the worse - I was pushed off from one rep ti another. They have re-ordered the shades and valances five or six times because the measurements were wrong and the valances were made from a different fabric. I received the swatches from The Shade Store today. I was quite impressed with the promptness, presentation, swatches and catalog. I had questions regarding my swatches so I called the 800 number. I had the pleasure of speaking with Meredith R. She was very knowledgeable of products and gave me excellent alternatives to the swatches I had in question. She was extremely comfortable to talk and it was a great experience. The shades and curtains we received are excellent, and the professional installation was great. Minus one star for difficulty in scheduling installation. It is hard to reach someone on the hotline, and I ultimately had to talk to three different people before I reached someone who could schedule for my area (Westchester). I also needed to miss work to accommodate the installation schedulers. The technicians have very limited availability on weekends, no evening availability, and it was a 2+ week wait to get the first-thing-in-the-morning appointment. read more

I have nothing but positive things to say about The Shade Store's customer service. I have a blackout shade in my bedroom and I was so satisfied with it that I ordered new shades for my living room. I ordered the shades online and when they were delivered, I was dismayed to find that I had stupidly and embarrassingly put the length and width measurements in the wrong boxes. Instead of ordering long and narrow shades, I had ordered wide and short ones. Horrified with myself, I called The Shade Store immediately and instead of making me feel worst than I already did, the customer service representative was super understanding and helpful, and worked with me to figure out a financially-fesible solution to get the correct shades. I purchased Roman shades from Paula at the Shade Store back in October. I want to say how wonderful and helpful she was. She helped me choose several fabrics for my kitchen windows and when I couldn't decide which one to go with, she came to my house to help me. She spent a lot of time helping me select the ones that would look best and they really did! The installers were super nice and helpful. But where I felt they really earned the 5 stars was when my shades came in completely wrong (sizing was way off) - Paula reached out to me immediately -apologizing and re-ordering me a whole new set. We purchased a new home with LOTS of windows. It's modern architecture and we added a lot of personalization. Our first order of custom blinds came from a competitor of The Shade Store and it was an expensive disaster. I am so glad we only did the master bedroom with them! Being stung once we decided to do a small order with The Shade Store. Our representative Nissy was patience, understanding and knowledgeable. When she didn't know the answer she took the time to find out. The order came in and was much easer to install than our previous order was... And the mounting hardware was clean, elegant and simple; no need for us to want to cover it up. After mounting we had two minor issues and Nissy was able to put us in touch with someone at The Shade Store who knew the simple fix and provided it in a PDF which was incredibly easy to understand. We just placed a second order of some very unique roller blinds which match the bold colors in our home perfectly. Nothing any of their competitors had even come close to this solution. The Shade Store boasts a lifetime warranty, yet I have had nothing but really bad service to match the poor quality of their shades. First, two of my shades arrived with holes in them...big ones, where light came streaming into the room. Then they were installed - by their people - crooked...seriously. Each one was installed slanted so that each shade unraveled within a short time. They offered to replace the shades, which they did. And wouldn't you know it, more holes! They offered to get their installer to rehang all the shades, but I didn't want the same guy who did a bad job in the first place. So they sent another guy who stood me up and kept me waiting for hours...three times! In the end, he never showed up! So someone named George at the company said they don't have anyone else to send to my house, so I should hire someone to do the work rehanging the shades straight. He promised to repay me. So I found a guy in town who finally did work the right way and charged me $200. Wouldn't you know it, George doesn't return my calls and I am out $200! Lifetime warranty?! Do yourself a favor and buy Hunter Douglas or any other shade. This place makes defective shades and doesn't begin to understand customer service! Good luck if you buy from them. read more
