Ask the Community - The Sharpening Factory

Can you sharpen an ax? if so, how much?

Yes, if it had an edge when new. Not a DIY blank w/o an edge. - Hatchet = $8 - Long handled = $12…

Do you sharpen professional barber/cosmetology scissors?

Yes. Unfortunately, Placentia is outside our service area. Another option is to bring them to a Farmers Market in Costa Mesa that we participate in - on Saturdays only - 9am-2pm. The shears need to be dropped off before 2pm in order for them to…

    Do you sharpen cuticle pliers?

Unfortunately, we do not sharpen cuticle nippers. Thx for asking.…

    I need a return, what's your phone?

Hi Pamela. I don't sell anything. I only sharpen. Do you have the right place? My # is 714-202-2570.

What's you Address? I need to sharpen my cuticle pliers

Unfortunately, I am not able to sharpen cuticle nippers any more. The machine for that purpose is broken. The manufacturer who made it is no longer in business. Perhaps, if you call a nail salon, they can recommend a sharpener to you. Thx for…

I had a chance to speak to Mike over the phone before I had them sharpened. Basically this company deals in bulk and the prices drop per knife the more that the customer sharpens. We had about 20 knives to sharpen and they ended up being about 7 dollars a knife when it was all said and done. The part that was pretty cool is that they send you an empty box directly to your house. It comes with a shipping label and some packaging material. After the knives were shipped back I got a phone call personally from Mike confirming that everything was perfect on my order. I cannot even begin to describe how sharp these knives were. Don't think I could have been any happier. Warning: These knives are sharp!

Except for Schmidt's knife sharpening service. Quality in all aspects is constant. Each contact with Schmidt's is a quality experience. Their website was designed for excellent user interface. You can place an order, ask for a shipping box, arrange for pick up and delivery without any felt effort. Service is fast, often just a few days between placing an order and having your knives returned. My latest batch of knives left in miserable shape and returned sharp and gleaming. "Sharp" does not even begin to describe the edge that Schmidt's achieves for your knives. They also clean and polish your knives so you basically have a new set of knives each time. Schmidt's is simply outstanding!

Additionally, I wanted to also look into getting a better whisk, but I think I will make the wood what I have. And I knew I was gonna need a digital scale to help me through my sourdough journey now that I was gifted two sourdough starters--one from Italy and one from France (one of my clients was very giving & thoughtful). The price is range from $40-$85., whoa! Amazon has them for about $30. I will have to think about this.. Met Gonzo, yes, that's how he spelled it, a delightful & enlightened staff member who was very helpful with recommending which would be best. We could've had a whole conversation for a half a day! LoL. In the end, I decided to think about it before purchasing one (turns out later, best decision I made all day) My glass measuring cup is in storage & I find it cumbersome so I bought a lighter version (2 cup). Happy with my purchase. Hubby bought his item separately & let me roam the aisles. Highly recommend this store. Gonzo was instrumental in making me feel welcomed & appreciated to be shopping here, hence the 5 star. As I mentioned many times in the past, I greatly value customer service. It's what keeps me as a return customer

Listen to this…read more.. Chef Toys wants to charge a 30% restocking fee if a product has to be opened and taken out of the box. But if they sell you an item that THEY took out of the box and have had on display, they want you to pay full price while claiming the item is still "new." We placed an order over the weekend for about $4,000 and were told it would be ready to pick up by Monday. I got there around 12, and the order wasn't ready. Not a big deal--we waited. Then we found out that one of the items included in our order was the display fridge. We told them we wanted a brand-new fridge in a box. The employee kept stating that they "just took it out of the box," but in reality, that fridge has been sitting there on display for a long time. We asked for either a boxed fridge or a refund. The employee did not hesitate to state, "I will meet you at the front and give you your refund," without even trying to offer another alternative or find a solution. There were no customer service skills from the employees or Buster, the manager. The situation escalated pretty quickly, and Buster very rudely kept telling me to stop talking instead of trying to handle the situation professionally and understand why we were upset. We have been doing business with Chef Toys for a very long time, but today they lost a customer because of Buster and the way this situation was handled. I do want to acknowledge and thank the Director of Sales. He understood the situation and very calmly tried to find a solution. Unfortunately, by that point, it was already too late. He showed the professionalism and customer service that we should have received from the beginning. He should be hired as the manager instead.

Anyways, I showed up in the afternoon on a Tuesday, and I was the only one there. Shortly after walking in, a man who I presume is the owner, helped me out right after I said I had 2 knives to get sharpened. The front area has a big wooden cutting board that you can use to demo the knives out after they're sharpened, which I thought was cool. There's also walls and walls of cool knives, which I couldn't tell if they were for sale or for demos, but they were really cool to look at while I waited. The service was incredibly reasonably priced. I was out of there with sharpened knives in less than 10 minutes and the space was reasonably large. I hope that means the business is doing well. It certainly deserves to. I got exactly the service I requested. The quality of the knives was so good that my dad actually got a little cut after I gave them back to him. Nothing major, but was a bit funny and definitely proof that they were quite sharpened. The value for the time was extremely good. This is the type of small business that you definitely want to support, and I'll definitely be recommending Mr. Sharpe knives in the future.

I am beyond happy with my experience and will be back the moment my knives need some attention. If you have knives that need sharpening go here. You won't be disappointed.
