I made my way out to the SoCo farmers market early morning to catch him to sharpen my 2 hair-cutting shears. He educated me on the types of shears I had and the his process in sharpening them with all of the different tools he had. Upon pickup, he had me check how well they cut with human hair extensions he had ready so that he could make any needed adjustments. Long story short, I brought expensive shears I had bought preowned not realizing that they may have been sharpened incorrectly before so he had to fix somebody else's work. He was so kind and didn't make me feel bad about it and was overall just so pleasant to work with. He sharpens all sorts of tools including garden, groomer, kitchen knives, clippers, etc. He's also mobile so long as there is a driveway for him. Please check him out!

You can place an order, ask for a shipping box, arrange for pick up and delivery without any felt effort. Service is fast, often just a few days between placing an order and having your knives returned. My latest batch of knives left in miserable shape and returned sharp and gleaming. "Sharp" does not even begin to describe the edge that Schmidt's achieves for your knives. They also clean and polish your knives so you basically have a new set of knives each time. I had a chance to speak to Mike over the phone before I had them sharpened. Basically this company deals in bulk and the prices drop per knife the more that the customer sharpens. We had about 20 knives to sharpen and they ended up being about 7 dollars a knife when it was all said and done. The part that was pretty cool is that they send you an empty box directly to your house. It comes with a shipping label and some packaging material. After the knives were shipped back I got a phone call personally from Mike confirming that everything was perfect on my order. I cannot even begin to describe how sharp these knives were. While there was a small "oopsie" on my Ka-Bar knife, Brandon immediately took full ownership of the mistake and generously gave me the sharpening on that knife for free. I got my first set of nice ZWILLING knives and I was excited to have my first set of nice knives sharpened for the first time. I saw the fantastic reviews and was optimistic. However, upon getting them sharpened, I received my brand new knives back with scuff marks. I figured maybe it was normal and it would come out overtime but it has been over a year and they're still there. I feel a lot of regret sending my knives here to be sharpened because aesthetically they don't look good anymore. Additionally, I was not a fan of the communication when scheduling, she arrived an hour earlier which in theory could be nice? But I had to send a family member over to take care of the knives since I scheduled my work hours to be available at the time we initially agreed upon. Had I been there I more than likely would've asked about the scuff marks. I'm glad other people had wonderful results here, but I unfortunately had a very regretful experience and now the knives I saved up for look bad.

Found the shop after scoring big at my local thrift shop with 4 shun premier knives and a utility…read moreknife. Talked with Melvin on the phone and he said I could come through. I got to the shop, he quoted for all 5 plus my chef knife, bread knife, cleaver and fillet from home, and within 30 minutes, my knives were ready. Great experience, cool shop and Melvin did a fantastic job in a fast amount of time. I will definitely be back when I add more secondhand knives to my collection.

He sharpened and fixed the tips of two knives, and repaired one with a big chunk missing after a friend had a go at opening a coconut... Seems a fair price for the work done.
