This store sells many nice things for the home that you can buy on the spot, but the store is also the base for people who want to get a professional to help decorate their homes Yates & Kennedy occupies about 500 square feet on Commercial St, and owner Mitch Yates has created areas throughout the shop that teem with personality. The shop, which has been around for over 10 years is chock-a-block full. Antelope horns lean against agate bookends, watermark pillows rest next to small oil paintings, and claw-foot candlesticks, magnifying glasses and a jewel-encrusted crown share table space. A variety of vintage wallpaper serves as backdrops to the diverse assortment. Yates has even created a space for a great assortment of espadrilles and hand screened T-shirts by his best friend, John Kennedy. The shop, like a room with character, is spirited and charming. When you visit, plan to spend some time there; you never know what you'll uncover.

Ultimately I was thrilled that I stepped foot in Yates & Kennedy and I will think of that store fondly each time I gaze upon my gorgeous pillow while at home. We walked in around lunchtime and we noticed a lot of sales signs all over...but we definitely noticed the line of people waiting to pay...it was about 20 people deep ! The sales for off season are really good and you can get a great deal on clothing. My husband was looking for a Provincetown sweatshirt and all of the ones on sale were Cape Cod ones...lots of colors, lots of styles.... The story of these stores started in 1980. Cuffy purchased 300 misprint t-shirts for $1.00 and sold them for $2.00 right after college. That was the start of a successful casual clothing line of stores.

The other viewpoint was the guy behind the counter, he had the longest face and he did not look welcoming nor friendly at all. That put me off with his attitude and demeanor. A $5.99 necklace was sold to them for $9.99. And the rings were priced at $5.99 and were sold to them for $8.00. We brought up the errors to the register attendant who got another employee and it seemed like they would refund the difference. But they told us after a little they needed the manager who said she would refund it all and not sell them for the price marked on the item!!! They also have a large selection of euro and gay-friendly underwear and jocks. The prices aren't that out of control, especially for P-town standards. They lose points because there is nothing my fat ass can fit in and look decent. They also lose points for having a kinda creepy set up to try things on in. Basically they have a poster hanging from the ceiling you duck behind to block you from the street. Bad if you are the one changing... good if you are shopping and a hot guy ducks behind there... just sayin'...
