I went to this fabulous event in Old Town over the weekend. It is apparently a yearly thing. It is called the Old Town Boutique Warehouse Sale. There are quite a few boutiques selling their wares at 50% off or more. Yeah, you can hate me a little bit if you missed it, but there is always next year. Anyway, The Shoe Hive was one of the stores who had a table at the sale, and I liked their stuff so much that after hitting the event..I walked over to their shop. Their "hive" theme is pretty cute. This store is in Hysteria's old space, and picks up where Hysteria leaves off as far as shoes and accessories go. I really can't believe it has taken me so long to find this place! I'm in love! The employees are great! They're totally willing to help - rare sometimes in she department stores that work on commission and try to get as many customers as possible. The store is small, so the inventory isn't as extensive as Nordstrom, but they stock great items. The selection of Tori Burch, alone, is worth a stop! I can't wait to return as the seasons change. read more

Saturday evening was my first time here, but I will definitely be back! The ladies were so friendly and cheerful. I really appreciate that they gave me space to browse, but were so ready to help once I asked. I'm obsessed with the two pairs of flats that I picked up. Great little boutique, and as such expect the usual smaller selection. The shoes they DO have are really well picked, I love that I can get my reasonable Sam Edelmans or splurge on a trendy pair of seasonal foot couture. Beautifully curated collection of shoes, boots, sandals. The service is super friendly, not hovering and always willing to help when you need a certain pair of shoes. While the prices may seem high, they do have a range of prices. Plus, check the small sale area in the back and you may find something. Supporting a small, local business is top of my list any day. read more

I wasn't impressed by anything about The Shoe Hive. I went in to kill a bit of time before I had to go somewhere. Many of the shoes might be name brands, but they aren't good quality relative to the prices. Most of them did not have leather soles, but ones made out of heavy cardboard or plastic. First I have to say I've only been here once. If I lived in the area I would probably stop by a few times a year to see what's available for different seasons. That said, while this store has nice, high quality shoes and boots (at prices commensurate with the quality) the selection was rather conservative for my taste. If I were to pay those prices I'd want something special and interesting. I didn't see much here that really caught my eye. Maybe the target audience is a bit more mature and conservative. read more

I went in for the first time I love the shoes , but unfortunately the young lady that was in there was not very friendly I was so excited from the service I received at hysteria ; when I walked into the store I lost all joy. This is such an adorable shoe boutique and I LOVE swinging in here to poke around. The staff is always very friendly and I love the shoes they carry. My only wish is that more inventory would be stocked in the "popular show sizes." But I suppose that pretty much how it goes at any shoe store. Prices are comparable to other shoe boutiques and they do have some really phenomenal surprise sales. read more

Great brands - I have gotten Bettye Muller shoes, Kate Spade shoes, and Dianne von Furstenburg gloves - and everything picked with taste. They have some cute jewelry and PJs/slippers too. Mostly they are awesome for shoes though. You might want to call ahead about size, that is my only complaint - I wear size 35.5 European, and the smallest they usually have is 36. Otherwise, love it here. read more

Nice selection of shoes. But the sales clerk couldn't be bothered to greet me when I walked in. She never stepped from behind the counter while I was browsing although I was the sole customer. As I left, she called out something to me and I acknowledged her with a firm shut of the door. I feel bad for this indie shop owner. I have very narrow feet!! When I have been to other shoe merchants a shoe will never fit. Elizabeth runs a wonderful business. She has extended herself many times. If the shoe I want is not in stock she will see that I will get it in 7 days max. Her return policy has helped me out when I was in a jam. My niece didn't like the shoe( you know how 16 year old are?) she allowed me to return it even though I was a day over the date. She was willing to accommodate me and I love her for that!!! When you enter a small boutique, you cannot expect a large as a collection as you would find in department stores. I stop in often, and sometimes I find stuff that's perfect and sometimes I don't, but that's ok. What I love is the excellent customer service and selections of accessories. I purchased shoes through their online store and they worked in good faith with me when I found the size was too small / a larger size not available. I've been here several times, and I've always found something I've wanted. They have a great selection of every kind of shoe, from rain boots, to over-the-knee leather boots, to bridal. They carry a lot of brands like Tory Burch and Hunter, so definitely not cheap, but not that expensive either. read more

I visited this charming boutique at the end of September in preparation for a trip to Italy and found the owner/manager, Elizabeth to be most accomodating and helpful. I bought a Hunter quilted jacket and several pairs of Ilux leggings (the absolute best), and was very satisfied with my purchases. A good selection of shoes, boots, accessories and clothing.
