Todd helped me and he was very knowledgeable. He helped me size up on my shoes, and got me some inserts to go in them. I walked out on a pair of Hokas that were sooooo much more comfortable than all birds. He educated me on why all birds isn't for walking long distances. Terrible service. Sales person Doug treated me with disdain and condescension. So much so I regret not addressing it at the store. I've not been treated that poorly at a store ever. While visiting the area we stopped in Comfort One Shoes after seeing Hokas in the window. I've been trying to convince everyone I know to get these fabulous shoes. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned so now I want to spread the word to all, without being too annoying. They have a scanner for your feet that tells you your correct size, parts of the foot where you put the most pressure on while walking, etc. It's essentially magic haha! I followed my daughter into the store because she needed a new pair of shoes. I had no intentions spending a dime. At all changed when I found the cutest Laurel Burch two in one purse! Not only does Comfort One hoes have a large variety of shoes, they also have a bunch of cute accessories. Daughter loves her new Brooks, I'm thrilled with my purse. Definitely a win! I knew what shoes I wanted and called the store before driving over to make sure they had them in stock. A salesman picked up the phone and without skipping a beat said they had them in stock. Once trying on the shoes, I asked the sales associate about how the specific models should fit I was told how my current shoes (Xero Shoes sandals) were bad for my feet (unsolicited) and that I had issues with my foot arches (also unsolicited). I tried to be polite and say I'm fine with my shoes and my feet. Decided to purchase my shoes and while leaving the sales associate continued to try to convince me that my current shoes were bad for my feet and that "I'm young now, when I get older, that's when the pain can start". I'm sure this is a great store but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I likely won't be shopping here again for shoes. The salesperson here puts you in a state of dream; he talks so fast and moves so quickly that you don't even know what you paid for. I got a pair of shoes with new inserts that didn't fit me in the first place. He also very quickly removed the inserts from my old shoes and replaced them with a new one. Now the "old" shoes are just two weeks old with new inserts purchased at the very same store. I ended up returning all what I purchased. Also, I was told by this salesperson that my shoe size is 9W when in all actuality I'm 8.5M. I don't trust their quick convincing sales tactics - it's deceiving, annoying, and very uncomfortable. I went in yesterday to buy Birkenstock shoes. It took an extremely long time just to get a workers attention to try on the styles I was considering. Finally I was able to try on a pair of shoes. They never checked on me or asked about switching out sizes. Then when I had a specific question about a style (that I was going to buy) it took 15 minutes to find someone to answer it. Super excited to shop from a local family & what i thought was a nice store since they're in the DMV and in the nicest places. Every shoe here lacks style so i settled on an all black pair. The customer service was pretty decent and they even scanned my foot ( only reason it got one star ) i told the guy that scanned my foot i was a size 11 but after he scanned me he said i should get a smaller shoe. I tried them on and didn't notice anything to bad and was excited for my new pair of shoes so i wore them out the store and realized they're too small. This location has the best selection. They have good customer service and are willing to get you the best shoe fit and style. The downfall is they weren't upfront about their shipping fee. I purchased 2 pairs of shoes and the sales associate said" we ship and won't charge you the sales tax". Well he didn't mention the shipping fee was $10 for the first pair and $5 for the second. This is way more than the cost of sales tax! Won't do that again. They should be up front with their fees- I definitely could have found a way to stuff those shoes in my suitcase! read more

I stopped into the Old Town store recently and had such a great experience! It's a small store, but has a great selection of comfortable but still cute walking shoes. There is a new Store Manager now, Justin, who was very helpful, and definitely not the 'Dictator' mentioned in previous posts. He helped me find some great shoes and was fitted for insoles that will be terrific in several pairs of shoes I already have. The staff all seemed knowledgeable and experienced; they are all usually busy with multiple customers at a time, but don't make you feel either pushed and pressured, or forgotten about (which have all happened at many other stores I've visited). All of the customers trying on shoes seemed to be having a great time with their sales associates. It was a fun atmosphere, I got some great shoes, and I will definitely become a regular! read more

She showed me 10 pairs, and they all fit pretty well, which is saying something for 10.5 W hard-to-fit feet. They do try to upsell you a little with added extras, but no more than I expected. Long story short - DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY!! Even though the shoes are very comfortable the customer service has to be some of the worst that I have ever received. I agree with Gloria S that the store manager acts like a Dictator. Not sure how he acts towards the employees but that is how I felt when I brought my shoes in that were falling apart and scuffed. In addition, the salesclerks save you time, because you can describe the type of shoe you want and they know their stock so well, they can recommend one or two brands with styles that will work for your feet.
