Employees there are very knowledgeable about guns, almost any type. They have great range instructors. The range is clean, air handlers help on the range. And the employees are nice. I see some 1 or 2 star reviews and I have to wonder who these people talked to. It could be the night staff that I don't know about since I normally shoot during the day time. When the range sold we were apprehensive what the new owner would be like. He's a great guy. I would like to suggest that anyone that had a "bad" time - give it another shot - call and talk to Yan or Bill or Mark (Mark talks low so he's hard to hear at times but he KNOWS guns). But shortly after I left my review, the owner, Jeffrey, personally called me, and that completely changed how I felt. Not only did he take care of the refund right away, but he also took the time to really listen and apologize in a kind, thoughtful way. Ive been coming here for about 8 years! Range is clean and well maintained. Prices are comparable to other local ranges! It can be a pleasant experience as long as you dont have to interact with the staff much! They can be a bit rude and unfriendly. Recently I had an incident where a staff member was speaking to me in a very disrespectful manner! I asked this person why and instead of an apology, I got an excuse and a "justification" as to why their bad attitude was ok! This incident had nothing to do with my range experience. It was a problem with a firearm purchase. Its sad that the staff at this place can be so miserable for such a decent facility. read more

I just learned that Tim's is under new management and even though I was on Tim's mailing list I didn't get notified, apparently nobody got notified. I visited the range today to find out about the ownership change and to learn that my $100 gift card is now worthless. Even though there's no expiration date on the card I was told that "I didn't use it in a timely manner." So sorry that I had an shoulder injury and couldn't shoot. I can't believe previous and new owners would screw their patrons this way. I'm all for supporting local businesses but this is a case where the business didn't care about their loyal customer base. I would leave 0 stars if I could. The new management is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Drove almost an hour one way to come in and shoot the suppressor that i have already paid $1400+ for and was told that I couldn't. When I inquired as to why, I was told that I was being "whiney" and I could come back and shoot another day! As a long time shooter and even a state champion in 1990 I have never been treated like a beginner like at Tim's. Went to try a gun with a laser and was told no holstered guns allowed due to SAFETY. Rented a gun and found the laser was too weak to see, Had to push the on button every shot. It cost me with a box of their ammo and one target $14 to shoot 15 rounds. No one was on the range at 11:45 and I wonder why? No one understands gun and range safety more than I do, but I wont be going back. read more

The only option that is open later and was also great! I get to Indy about once a month and I had struggled finding someplace open after I have meetings at the office. Tim's is open later, it is also clean, well lit, good air quality, courteous and has professional staff. Not in the city proper, but not so far away that I struggled to get there. The only odd point about this range is one that I actually don't mind: you have to watch a safety video on your first visit. I have been to ranges, that I am sure there were people who have never been shown any points of safety or range etiquette at all, ever... so I don't mind it. I wish I had taken photos, but sadly I forgot. The place was super clean though. Oh! Also! This is the only indoor range I have ever been to where there is a shelf under your bench, so you don't have to put your jacket and gear on the floor! Other ranges, take note, please. read more

My husband and I went here with another couple for "date night." They have a discounted rate on Thursday nights. I was instructed to watch a safety video first as it was my first time and then fill out the form that I understood all the rules. We were assigned a lane and off we went. The one guy came in and kept an eye on us and helped me quite a bit. He was super nice and non judgmental, which I appreciated. Went to Tim's a few months ago so I could fire a few weapons including my AR-15. I called before driving the 45 minutes from my house to Tim's to confirm I could indeed fire my AR on their range. While on the phone I asked about pricing and fees.. Upon arrival I watch their 10 minute rage safety video. Then filled out the required liability form. At this point I was asked what type calibers I would be firing on the rage. I showed them my PMC FMJ 5.56 rounds, .40 rounds, and .380 rounds. I was then told due to my AR being a "military style weapon"... I had to purchase all ammo for it from them to fire it on their range. It would have been really nice to know this before wasting 1.5 hours of driving time. The only reason I drove there was to fire the AR indoors. When people call asking about shooting an AR you should be upfront with them about all fees involved. Due to this I will not return and have not recommended to anyone. read more

As one who lives on the near-Northside of Indy, I very rarely venture into the far North Suburbs. It's a long drive. In my life, there exist three things that dictate a trip to Hamilton County: fantastic food, friends, and firearms. In a perfect world, all three of these would be combined, but my last trip north was purely gun-related. Tim's Shooting Academy, besides being home to a large indoor shooting range, multiple firearms-related training classes, also engages in the sale of guns, ammunition, and accessories. Despite my passion for shooting, it was the desire for a specific accessory that inspired my 45-minute drive to Tim's. What was the particular accessory? I'm glad you asked. It was a Remora holster, and Tim's Shooting Academy is the only authorized reseller of these excellent products in the area. Other retailers may carry them, but do not have an inventory like that of Tim's. My first contact with the staff at Tim's Shooting Academy took place on the telephone. I immediately noted that they were polite, helpful, and laid back--all being qualities I appreciate in gun shop staff. Once I made it to the shop itself, I was able to try the holster prior to making the purchase. While I did not have the chance to shoot, I did take a gander at the range. It was very clean, modern, and well ventilated. Before leaving, I was sure to check out some of their educational offerings. The academy offers various opportunities to learn new skills in addition to refine ones long since acquired. Tim's also has NRA-certified classes as well as those specifically designed for the female shooter. Tim's Shooting academy draws a wide-variety of customers. During my visit, I saw men who were preparing for deer season, a young family of shooters, and a lone suburbanite, dressed to the nines (and clearly prepared to knock the center out of her target. Then, of course, there was me: the city slicker who'd come to town looking for a holster, and left a happy customer. My wife bought a firearm safety class for me for Christmas that my son and I were very excited to attend. My son and I woke up this AM very ill and I called and left a message to see if I could reschedule, as well as followed up and spoke in person to somebody after they opened. The individual on the phone was unable to reschedule and stated I needed to speak to the instructor. The instructor proceeded to lecture me on their no rescheduling policy, stating that there are a lot of irresponsible people who do this all the time, and referred me to their website policies, despite the fact that I wasn't the one who purchased the class. I have laryngitis and a fever and obviously would not have been able to sit through the class, nor did I feel it would be the responsible choice to potentially get other people sick. Upon expressing that to him he stated he "did not care about germs, the flu, Covid, or "whatever""and that I had a choice to show up but not to reschedule. As a 50-year-old man, I did not appreciate how I was spoken to, nor the lack of flexibility, nor trust in my intent. As a result I can't recommend this company for your firearms, nor classes. There are other places in town that treat their customers with much more respect. read more

Hidden gem. Tucked on the outskirts of a wealthy town is Tim's Shooting Academy. Tim's is one of the few places that allow shotguns, which is a plus. Once you go through a brief orientation, you are free to use the range. I really enjoy the range and the staff. They don't mess around and try to pressure you into buying products. If they don't have a gun you're looking for, they'll get it for you. I enjoy coming here and I encourage everyone who wants to visit a shooting range to give this place a try. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this range or staff. Today was my second time at Tim's. My husband surprised me for an outing for my birthday in January, today I took my three teenagers after school. We are not avid marksmen or outdoor enthusiasts, however the kids and I had all wanted to try our hand at shooting. The experience was exciting and scary, by scary I mean the realization that it's a real gun with live ammo! All the staff work together and both times the gentlemen were all extremely patient and informative. My kids and I have learned A LOT and will be back for more practice. This range opened up 2 miles from my house so I was very excited to go. I really tried to like this place since they are so close and they have a great gun rental selection. Plus being able to fire high powered firearms is nice. I went here 3 times and just can't handle it anymore. Each time the employees were rude and intimidating. They jokingly insulted customers (myself and others around me), but it was not funny at all. Unprofessional. I've seen employees yell at other customers while I was there. I've been to other ranges in the area, and never experienced anything like this at the other places. read more
