Thank you so much to everyone at The Shop who transformed our 2008 Chevy Silverado. We researched several shops before we met Moe and his team. We instantly felt comfortable starting the process with The Shop, because it was clear the staff are knowledgeable, diligent- and it is also nice that everyone is so friendly. We checked on the truck's progress often and were pleased with each step. After the truck was sprayed with the new paint color, the truck looked fine, but we weren't happy with the color. We expressed our concern and Moe didn't hesitate to respray it to the color we liked. After the change we were super happy with the results! This happened a few years ago but I was recently telling someone this story and it occurred to me to write a yelp review to warn others. Here goes: I brought my GTI in for an oil change and everything seemed cool. In retrospect this place seems like more of a custom body shop than a mechanic but I learned my lesson the hard way. Later that day I get a call saying they recommend I change my spark plugs as well. Based on the mileage of my car that seemed possible so I had them do it. When I picked the car up there was clearly something wrong -- not all the cylinders were firing. I bring it right back, and long story short, they claim I had a damaged cylinder head or something requiring hundreds of dollars to fix. Keep in mind my car was working perfectly when I brought it in originally for an oil change. Naturally, I ask for them to fix it and am met with a pretty stiff 'not my problem' response from the young guy working there. They claim my car was damaged when it came in, etc etc. Anyway, I had to raise my voice and threaten to cancel the entire payment they had already received (luckily I had paid with Amex) before he decided to fix it. I don't think it was a scam or anything, just a mistake they had made that they didn't want to own up to. F these guys. read more

After the car was done, I had issues with the insurance company that should have been resolved with the body shop.(victors) Mo didnt want to help or do the right thing. In all fairness, on the work or repair that was done to the car was satisfactory. but I got screwed in the end and to add insult to injury Mo put 300 miles on my car, (fact) if thats ok with you then by all means, give Mo the work I would find another shop, if you ignore this warning, you could end up paying the price like I did. read more

After I scheduled to drop my car off with them, they arranged for a car rental agent to come and pick me up and take me to the rental shop down the street, making things extremely seamless and convenient. I recently took in my BMW BMW 340i to Moe following a hit and run collision. Moe was very attentive to my needs and regularly updated me on the status of my vehicle. More importantly Moe fought with the claims adjuster on my behalf to have OEM parts put on my car, as opposed to the generic non-OEM parts recommended by Farmers Insurance. When Farmers screwed up and delayed sending out the adjuster again for a supplement he went ahead and ordered all the necessary parts from South Bay BMW out of pocket and took care of my additional rental car coverage. It was truly a great experience from start to finish with a fast roll out time given the extent of the damage to my vehicle. My car came out looking like new as if it had just rolled off the showroom floor. On delivery Moe took the extra step of having my car aligned just to be safe. Short review: Just - YES - These guys are legit. Longer Review: John and Jason are running a tight, clean, and knowledgeable operation at The Shop Automotive. It was a huge relief to work with a shop that is competent, generous and honest. My experience there was very positive. The '96 Toyota T100 (the one I bought from my brother-in-law) was making all sorts of noises. I asked a friend where I should go. "Just go to The Shop - That's where all of our employees go." Co-owner John started by putting my T100 on the lift and walking me through everything he saw. Afterward, his business partner Jason presented me with a daunting list of issues. My finances weren't great at the time, so they helped me pick what needed to be done immediately and what could wait. I live out of my T100 doing freelance work, so the investment was well worth it to me. My repairs are guaranteed for 3 years or 36k miles. I had initially gone to a mechanic who did both of my rear wheel bearings when they simultaneously failed. He was a really nice guy, but he wasn't competent. In this case, being thrifty cost me more in the long run. His repairs were inspected at The Shop, where we discovered he'd used drywall construction caulk to seal the wheels to the axles and had taken a grinder to one of my axles to remove the old bearings; my tire could have shot off or my differential fluid could have bled out and destroyed my rear end. Lesson learned! As a business, I admire that John and Jason employ staffers who are equally friendly and relaxed-professionals (or, professionally relaxed?). A quick shout-out to their receptionist Adam who helped me organize my appointment and arrange refurbished parts and parts under warranty to keep my costs low. Their apprentice grease monkey, Fletcher, was also awesome and gave me the low down on good Mexican food in Boulder. I was so grateful for the experience that I wanted to share it. PLEASE Do NOT GO Here!! This place not only ripped me off, it took them 56 Days to fix my car, which my insurance only covered 30 days of it. "The Shop" said not to worry and they will pay for the extra car rental expenses since it was taking so long for repair which they NEVER did. I was stuck with a $900 Enterprise Bill. They neglected to answer my calls, emails and messages. Their phone systems are whacked! Always busy or no one answers. They are not open Saturdays & Sundays, leave early Fridays. If it's a Holiday they take 7 days off. So your car won't get serviced and it will be just sitting there. Please DO NOT go there! They are scams! Unfortunately I did not do my usual Google research ahead of time. Please do! Go to the BBB! They have complaint after complaint. The company changes names every few years so new customers don't see all their bad reviews and complaints. But YES, this place is the SAME OWNERS! Please beware!!! :(((( ugh! Sorry to say but this is not a five star business. Five star businesses do not repeatedly fail to communicate with their customers. They do not tell them they will get an update and call them back with the status of the job and then not follow through. This this did not happen once or twice but three times. I am a very laid back customer hence I'm not the kind of person who does a lot of reviews, frankly I don't have the time. In this case I felt the need to review a business that is rated five stars (albeit with really few reviews) to add a bit of perspective. My situation was this. On December 16th of 2013 I crashed my 328i BMW. I did a real number on the front end which unfortunately damaged the radiator. Based on the recommendation of the tow truck operator (who I'm sure got a nice finder's fee, good for him) and based on Yelp reviews I took the car to The Shop. I have to say everything was cool and I felt I was in good hands when I left. I understood that since the holidays were coming that things would move a bit slower. Fast forward to the 5th of February. After calling the day before and asking for the status and being told I would be contacted later in the day with an update I had to call back yet again to see what was going on. Yet again I was told another two weeks, the same line I heard since the beginning of the year. I finally received my car on 2/17. (56 days to the 2/4). What is most troubling to me wasn't so much the number of days in the shop, which by everyone's account that I talked with was ridiculously long, but it was the total lack of communication or care for the customer (me). At no point was I ever provided any semblance of an idea that this was a job that would require several months. In fact just the opposite it sounded like 2-4 weeks and only because of the end of year holidays. Not one single time did someone at The Shop call me to let me know what was going on with my car. Now it is the 27th of February so I call the Shop. I was told on the 2/19 that my car would be ready for pick up on the 28th. I absolutely had no faith that this was a real date and not surprisingly it wasn't. Again I get the same almost recorded message from the receptionist that there is a lot of damage and it will take more time. Never do I get an estimate on when the job will be finished. I'm absolutely furious at this point. So I'm heading to the business tomorrow and I expect complete answers now and when I'm getting my car. The gloves are off and if I'm not happy the "Shop" can expect a nasty legal tussle. read more

Wish I had checked Yelp before going to The Shop Automotive initially. Had my brake calipers painted about a year ago. Moe said that they take the calipers off the car before painting. (bullshit) It took four days instead of the original two days Moe had told me. Still, the calipers looked good when I picked the car up and I was happy. But then two months ago the original color began to show again on all four wheels. I called Moe and he said bring it in on Monday and he'd redo it. I took the car in on Monday and was told it would be ready by Tuesday end of day. I then got a call on Tues. afternoon telling me that it would take another day and to come by on Wed. no later than 5pm to get the car. I called at 3:45pm (always get voice mail, never a real human) to tell them I was leaving my house to come pick up the car. I got there at 4:50 only to find my car up on blocks with plastic sheeting covering it and Moe said they needed yet another day. To say the least I was a bit upset. Any well run business would have called earlier in the day to advise me that the car would not be ready. I arranged for a friend to drop me and was then going to continue to meet some friends for drinks and dinner after picking up the car. Obviously this threw a monkey wrench into all those plans. Moe did not apologize and simply said "I can get you an Uber". I responded that I could get my own Uber and that I was pretty upset that no one had the courtesy to call me first. He said he didn't know why I was getting upset. REALLY? Talk about clueless. He then told me to @*#F off and that when I came back tomorrow to pick up my car to "be prepared to pay for it because he was doing me a favor"! This has to be one of the worst run businesses in Los Angeles and with that kind of attitude I can't believe he's still in business. Also, it was pretty obvious that they didn't take the calipers off the car to paint them, as I saw it covered in plastic and up on blocks with the calipers on the car. Obviously there won't be any glowing recommendations to family and friends to use The Shop Automotive anytime soon. Unless one enjoys being told to go @#*F yourself because you showed up when they told you the car would be ready. read more

I was in a fairly major fender bender which basically required my entire front end to be replaced. Not having been in an accident before, I had no clue where to send my car when the tow truck driver arrived. I took my chances on a recommendation (The Shop's stellar business card and legitimate website also helped in the decision-making process), and I felt more than satisfied with the end results. My car was towed to Mo on a Friday morning and I had to move to Las Vegas the next day. This meant I truly had to trust Mo and his team as I would be located in the adjacent state during the repairs. Liz, the office receptionist, was very courteous and helpful each time I called; Eric, the office manager, was always aware of the current status of my vehicle and easily answered my questions; and Mo, the owner, offered top notch customer service by covering my extended rental and returning the car, offering to have my car delivered to LV for me (wow), and providing me with what felt like a brand new car. Mo had my Sportage detailed, buffed, and in excellent condition. He even installed LED headlights, which was above and beyond what was expected (these were an upgrade when I purchased the car from Kia). Overall, The Shop as a team worked very well together and offered honest and reliable service. There was no hidden agenda or costs. I made no sacrifices and felt like I came out with more than I put in. I highly recommend Mo and his team if you are in the LA area. Considerations: It can be difficult to leave messages as The Shop does not have a working voicemail. They have an email address, but I did not receive a reply. As many have mentioned here, the customer service is also outstanding. Mo and his staff were always friendly and let me know how things were going every step of the way. They also made sure to have the car ready before I left on a long trip even with the holidays cutting into work time. These bad reviews are absolutely absurd and I can't believe they have been posted on here. I took my car to The Shop about 5 times now for various issues and my experience was always great. The work always got done on time and always looked great. They detailed my car every time prior to returning it when they didn't need to do that since the work done was to the interior of the car and not the exterior. Moe is extremely kind and will be honest how long the work is going to take. The time I took it to him for an insurance claim it took longer than the other times but that was because of the insurance company and not because of the shop. They can not start work without approval and payment from the insurance company. So if for any reason the work isn't done in a timely manner for insurance claims then call and complain to your insurance company and write a negative Yelp review about them. I just recently got my Porsche blacked out by them and it looks great and was done quickly even though I had dropped it off during the holidays.
