My sister in law had some grouper shipped to Mass. and it was nothing like I get when I go there and order it. It was filled with so many bones. So hard to eat. So from now on I will bring it to her when I go and visit. I recommend buying from the store. I always get good fish that way.

While visiting Panama City Beach, we had one mission: find some good blue crabs! Being East Coast…read morecrab connoisseurs, we wanted to compare Gulf crabs to the Atlantic crabs we're used to, so we stopped by Buddy Gandy's Seafood on West Highway 98. The first thing that surprised us was the process. Instead of ordering by the dozen like back home, you're handed a bag and a pair of tongs and told to pick out your own live crabs! Then they weigh your bag since the crabs are sold by the pound. At $6.99 per pound, we ended up with nearly two dozen crabs for right around $70. The first batch of crabs available was a little... slim pickings, so we asked if they had larger ones. The staff happily brought out another bucket, and we were able to find some much nicer-sized crabs. Everyone was friendly, courteous, and happy to help. Back at the resort, we steamed them up, and they were delicious! They were mostly full, and only one or two were light. The only disappointment? As people who've eaten both Atlantic and Gulf blue crabs, we could immediately tell these weren't Gulf crabs. They tasted like Atlantic crabs, so that took away a bit from the experience since we were hoping for something different. Overall, Buddy Gandy's gets 4 out of 5 stars from me. The seafood was good, the staff was great... but if I'm paying nearly $70 and doing the crab shopping myself, I'm knocking off that last star!

He walked off and brought the food. Wife returned to get the crab leg cracker and butter. He had no comment to her as well. Prior to sitting every empty table was dirty so I got towels and cleaned it as a worker stood in a corner on his phone. The good side is the food was pretty good except for the tuna dip. It was terrible. Comparable to a generic can of tuna mixed with generic mayo and funky on top.

As I got my food a band was setting up to start live music. The guys behind the counter are willing to answer questions and make sure you good ordering from the kiosk. Food smelled great and was just as tasty. A bit of my liquid/butter leaked out of the container in my way back to my hotel but that did not stop me from eating it. The corn was a bit over cooked and tasted cooked from frozen. The potato's were banging. The shrimp was so good. I bought a side of the garlic dipping sauce but did not use it as the cocktail sauce was so much better. Skip the garlic sauce and just go with the cooking liquid it comes in or cocktail sauce. Really you don't need a dipping sauce just eat it as is like I do the next morning for breakfast.

My husband had the grilled shrimp and he loved those as well. David was our server and he was great! Kerim is our favorite server but David is really wonderful as well, and we enjoyed their banter while we ate. There are good restaurants here in PCB, but few serve a salad, side, rolls, and hush puppies with your meal. I love baked potatoes and theirs are so good. I love the old Florida seafood house atmosphere of the place; it's been here a long time and they know what they're doing. Food is always good, service is practiced and exceptional, and the restaurant feels like home. Come here often and get to know the servers. They are masters at their craft and when you've come often enough, they'll greet you like family. Rare experience in restaurants these days, especially in a tourist town. Mains and sides came on separate plates, for the price you would expect better plating. And the oddity was the security guard with a vest that stated such. He stared at our table the entire hour plus we were there. Mind you, there were four 50 somethings and a couple college kids. No need for security. I asked him after dinner, he was there as a deterrent. I have no idea or history, but that's odd to me.

Chef Franco and Nicki came to our vacation rental last night and cooked dinner for 15 of us. They made everything perfect. From menu selection to the day of the party, it was all easy and perfect. Chef Franco showed up on time and brought everything he could possibly need. We picked out a gulf shrimp appetizer, followed by crab cakes. When I tell you these were the best crab cakes I have ever eaten.... I am craving them right now !!! We also had sautéed crab claws, which were plentiful and delicious. At that point, we were all full, but went on to have a Caesar salad, which again was perfection. Throughout this whole eating frenzy, we delighted in watching chef cook every part of the meal. He is not only a phenomenal chef, but so knowledgeable about the area and other parts of Florida. It made for a great dinner conversation. The main course consisted of filet mignon, and a grilled lobster tail. Accompaniments included green beans, and a homemade Mac and cheese. Just watching him make the mac & cheese, the entire room was salivating. Every aspect of the meal was beyond delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection to everyone's personal liking. Finally, we barely had enough room for dessert, but managed to get it down. Dessert was a bourbon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Again, this was exquisite. I am a bread, pudding, fan, and some may even say, an aficionado, and I can say this was among the best !!! Chef and Nina then proceeded to clean up the kitchen and package up all of our leftovers into the refrigerator. They left the kitchen cleaner then we found it when we got the house. Every aspect of this evening was fantastic !!!
