My natural hair desperately needed a trim since I have gotten it trimmed or straightened in over 2 years. This salon was recommended to me and the scheduling process was a breeze. My stylist was Kiana and she was pleasant, professional and easy to talk to. She was able to educate me on how to maintain the silk press, which lasted for about a month. Once she was done with my hair it was soft, bouncy and longer than I thought (shrinkage is real). I hate applying heat on my hair, but I'll be coming back for maintenance once or twice a year. read more

I was referred to this location by a friend of a friend. My appointment was in October 2023. I was scheduled for a wash, silk press and trim with Rosa. It was a Saturday, so it was pretty crowded. My bill came to $150. Pros: I liked my wash. They gave me a hot oil treatment. I like the silk press. My hair felt amazing afterwards. The staff is friendly and nice. Cons: My trim was really bad. It wasn't until I got home and noticed that the bottom back of my hair was trimmed. But it didn't appear that the trim went throughout the hair. I still had a ton of split ends everywhere in my hair except for the bottom. Today (11/4/23), I just left another beautician at a totally different hair salon so that that person could fix what wasn't done at The Silkout Bar a few weeks ago. I'm happy that others have had great experiences here. But I live way too far from Pearland to drive all that way for a 1/2 job. read more

10/25/2023- WORSE HAIR APPOINMENT EXPERIENCE- BEWARE: I booked my first-time appointment with the owner/stylist Rosa online for the Tuesday/Wednesday partial sew-in special for $200.00. My initial meet & greet with Rosa was extremely dry. Rosa begins my service with a wash that lasted all of 3 mins. It was very painful. She was sooooooo she was heavy handed and seemed to be in a rush. After sitting under the dryer for 9 mins Rosa began blowing drying my hair without applying heat protectant. The blow dryer had to be on the hottest setting which caused extreme discomfort. I will move my head due to the heat being so hot she would adjust my head back firmly. As she's blowing out my hair HUGE flakes are covering my cape, arms because my scalp was cleaned properly. When she finally decided to speak to me, she asked where I would like the part for the sew-in. Rosa braided my hair so ROUGH I had tears in my eyes & a terrible headache. I told her the braids were tight but never responded, she just kept on braiding. The entire time she never faced my chair towards her mirror so when she finished my sew-in. When I finally got a look at my hair it was horrible, by far the worst partial sew-in I've ever had in my life. I told Rosa I booked a partial sew-in NOT a full sew-in why all my hair is braided up. Her response was oh, well my clients usually tell me they want sides, back & front part left out. I told you that I am a first-time client you should have communicated that to me from the jump. I proceeded to tell how I wasn't pleased with the service it was too tight & the service I paid for wasn't what I booked online. She then tells me Well you need to go online a book another service for another day & sew-in for my hair to be fixed. The cost would be an additional $200. So, keep in mind in I had already paid $200 & she wanted me to pay another $200.00 totaling to $400. She refused to take my hair out so she asked another stylist will she take my hair out & then walked out of the salon. Rosa is completely unprofessional, non-communitive, lacks customer services skills, and just down right heartless. I drove over an hour & 30 mins to Pearland to get my hair styled & had a funeral to attend that following Saturday. Rosa didn't care at all about making the situation right. Save your money and time because clearly her Instagram pages are just for show because my experience terrible. I will never go back!! read more

Absolutely incredible service! I've been going to the silkout bar for about a year now one of the best salons in Houston. Every time I leave the salon I get compliments on my hair! Rosa does my hair to perfection her staff is always friendly. The assistant who washes my hair also does a great job. I will definitely be coming back best salon experience I've ever had. I was sadly disappointed in this place. I went in for a wash and blow dry. I usually won't start off with a heat style at a new salon until I see that they can handle natural hair and I'm glad I only got a wash and blow dry. An assistant washed my hair - no big deal except she was so ROUGH! My scalp was literally red and sore for days after my appointment. Then she also blow dried my hair - which was also rough for no reason. I'm not sure that she used any heat protectant. She used a paddle brush without detangling my hair first. I'm pretty sure I lost a ton of hair that day and I fully detangled my own hair before I came. Just excessively rough. My stylist did a trim, which I was happy with. Overall, I left with a headache and paid over $100 for a wash, blow dry, and trim. I still don't understand why it was so expensive. The idea of a walk in silk press sounds great, but they did not deliver. I'll never go back. read more

I got the new client silk press, advertised to take one hour. It took almost four hours because the stylist was doing 3-4 girls at one time. It was also extremely over priced. Nearly $200 after tip. My stylist was extremely stressed and rushing the entire time. My hair did look good in the end, however it's not worth going back. Ever. read more

0/10 I would not recommend! I went in for a silk press and was very detailed about the blow drying method I preferred. The stylist proceeds to tell me her silk press last weeks with the traditional method she does. I've been getting silk press for years, I know what my hair requires. The silk press didn't last 5 hours. I notified the stylist and she invited me to come back at 8:00 the following Sat, which was a week later from my original appt. I made it to the salon at 7:45am the lights were off!! I texted her to let her know I was there, she said she's not but will be soon after dropping off her child. 9 am comes, the shop opens and they let everyone in. I hear another stylist tell someone tht the same stylist I was waiting for now over an hour had a flat, but tht same stylist told me she had to drop off her kid. Anyway, she finally walks in 9:15, poor customer service because why didn't she acknowledge any of her customers especially the one she had waiting for over a hour!!! I sit down she goes through my hair and after waiting a hour she says I'm going to refund you, your hair does not look like the pic you sent. Again, it was a week later, I have soft texture hair, if my hair is not blow dried how I requested it will not last a day! We go to the register and she proceeds to give me partial refund, which I was not accepting! I told her how I wanted my hair blow dried, she proceeded to do what she wanted, had me drive back to the salon wait over an hour just to tell me she's not doing my hair. No ma'am I needed the entire refund please! She did accommodate the entire refund, so I did appreciate tht. But I was highly disappointed, I expected great things from this salon and a long relationship but sadly it ended tht day. I can't speak for the other stylist everyone seems pretty nice. The only thing I noticed was walk ins were getting service before their on time appointments which was confusing when it happened to me at my original appt. read more

First time client! I got a level 2 silk press after a girlfriend recommended silk out to me and love my hair. I was greeted the moment I walked in for my 1pm appt and was taken to the wash bowl right away. A couple different stylist washed and blow dried my hair, which was not a bother at all. I actually liked how everyone was working together, simultaneously, to get all of the clients in and out. I wish I remembered everyone's name who helped me. I booked with Rosa, who did my actual silk press and LOVED how it came out. I came in for a silk press. The stylist was friendly. The wash was pretty thorough but the drying process was horrible. I sat under the dryer and my stylist proceeded to blow dry my hair on the highest heat setting. At one point my scalp was burning and I had flakes falling on my cape. My hair wasn't blow dried in sections which is what I'm used to. That's when I noticed every stylist was doing the same blow drying method. The curls definitely disguised how my ends were which the stylist had to notice. When I combed out my curls at home, I noticed my ends were very dry and brittle. I think all the stylists are rushing because I do my own silk press better at home. For the amount I paid, it looked like a 1/2 job. read more

I've been going here for a few months and never had issues. My stylist Kayla would get my hair silky straight with a beautiful shine. I was really disappointed when I called to make an appointment and found out Kayla no longer works at the salon. I reluctantly made an appointment because I'm going out of town this weekend. MAJOR mistake. This is by far the WORST press I've ever had. My hair is a hot mess after only a few hours. Frizzy, roots aren't straight, hair is dull, and stiff. On top of that my hair smells burnt... I am beyond pissed. My silk press typically lasts 2 weeks. This time, 2 hours. And to add insult to injury, I was there for almost 3 hours. I scheduled an appointment for a two hour service that took about four hours. They accept too many walk ins at once to cater to their appointments. On top of that, I received the worse trim of my life. My hair is still polluted with the split ins I came in with. I was told over the phone that the extensions provided match with every hair texture. When I got there the beautician made it clear that this was not true. I just left the Silkout Bar and I'm thoroughly impressed. There's no such thing as walk-in's anymore with todays stylist, and I can say it was great to be in an environment where you didn't feel forgotten about as a walk in. I was in and out in 3 hours. I did the level 2 which is what I consider "the works", and their prices were very affordable! Wash, detangled, deep conditioned, and a blow out. Was greeted upon entry, customer service was 20/10, and styling was AMAZING! Kayla took good care of my natural hair. I'm definitely going back, they've won a lifetime client out of me. Leaving this review months later after service because I feel like it wasn't the best experience on the day and still months later I feel the same. I had my hair dyed and cut and silk pressed. My hair is naturally curly (3c.) first the owner did my hair and she didn't really talk to me or acknowledge me even though she did my hair for FIVE hours. Lol when I first sat down she combed out my hair DRY. I really don't know tooo much about hair but I'm pretty sure curly hair isn't supposed to be combed out dry because.. breakage. She was rough with it too. I was on time to my appointment there was so reason for the roughness so she's just rough lol. I asked for a certain style to dye and didn't get at all what I wanted. On top of that the left side of my hair was a different color than the right. She said it would grow out to what I wanted, no it didn't. Over all the service wasn't great, no one was exceptionally nice..I didn't get the hair I asked for and my hair was dyed a color that I did not request. I've thought through this a thousand times and I now understand it takes multiple dyes to reach the color I wanted.. but that wasn't the issue.. my hair was almost dyed to my roots! Tried to cancel my service with no response. Had to call in and cancel after the multiple emails sent to cancel. Then I was charged the $50 fee after they saw my emails and knew why I was calling. Unfortunately I will never recommend this place to anyone. I found this place on Instagram, and loved the work. The business hours on the site said at 5pm they closed. When I arrived at 10am I was told by Rosa that I had to make an appointment for the service I wanted because the business hours for today, and tomorrow switched to 4pm-9pm. I told her had I known that I wouldn't have drove from Tomball, and I couldn't come back. I said I was going to find someone else, and I should've did just that. She approached my car 5 minutes after I walked out saying she could do my hair, but she had appointments, and would have to work around them. I told her no problem because I patient. I asked for blonde highlights and my hair colored red. My hair was already crimson red with black roots before I stepped into this place. She asked me was $250 okay, and I told her it was no problem. Being I needed my hair done. After applying the dye she said my highlights would take all day, and I could get them next time. Had I been told that before hand I wouldn't have started to get my hair dyed. Towards the end while my due was drying I received an emergency call from my youngest brother, and had to leave. When I got to the wash bowl, and asked her how much did I owe her for the color she said the same price as before. $250. It was irritating because my entire head wasn't one color RED. My roots are fire red with my ends being the SAME color I arrived with. Thats ghetto. I told her I've never heard of that being the silk press is one price, and I thought the color was one price as well. She explained her color pricing is standard with or without the style, and I didn't explain to her I had to leave. Nor did I mention not being okay with not having my highlights. I'm a very understanding person, but I'm not about to pay for how someone else wants to service me. I didn't mention I had to leave until I had gotten to the bowl. So I'm uncertain why I couldn't get my highlights if they took all day or not. I paid $150, and left highly upset. Rachel, Rosa whatever she go by says this has never happened to her, and she works with integrity, and is a woman of God, but right is right, and wrong is wrong. I came to get my hair done by one of the stylist listed on the site. I'm pregnant, and my hair been over my head for days I just wanted to feel like myself! Now I'm walking around with fire red roots, and cherry ends. It's unacceptable because I know how to dye my hair myself, and get it one color. She told me I could come back, and calm down, but when it comes to my hair I just don't have patience. My entire life my aunt did my hair, and she's been deceased for 2 years. I posted on another review and the owner who was not there at the time replied with a. very defensive reply. I never said the lady that opened the shop was the one who washed my hair. I'm was actually assigned to De'Sha and she didn't show up. The shop was still not clean and not a friendly environment. I was actually serviced second and was not out at 9:36am as the owner who was not there claimed I was. Again, I pray as the owner you acknowledge how the shop is ran when you're not in the presence of your STAFF. It's sad that the owner has to post my race in her reply. Lights were out they were not taking any customers due to outage. I have been a frequent client of Rosa's for quite some time now, and she is great at what she does. Recently, I booked with a different stylist because Rosa didn't have any availability on her booking site. Once I arrived, I was washed and sat under the dryer like normal for a Level 2 Silk Press. That's when I noticed Rosa walking around and I took the opportunity to ask her to do my hair (no offense to the other stylist). Due to Rosa being free at that moment, she gladly started doing my hair. This made me feel so valued as a customer. I've been wanting to go from black to blonde for years, but was always scared to do so because of the possibility of damage from the bleach. But today, I finally got to do it and it came out AMAZING. I showed Rosa my color inspo at the consult I had with her about 2 weeks before today, and she got it almost exactly the same. I was so nervous that my hair would literally fall out of my head, but she reassured me that hair would be fine and told me exactly how to take care of it to maintain my new hair's color and health. It was clear that she knew exactly what she was doing and that definitely calmed my nerves, lol. My hair has so much dimension and feels so healthy. I love my new color so much. Well when I first started coming to the Silk Out Bar my hair was damaged and my edges were gone. They use top tier products and now my hair is healthy and and look amazing. The stylist are friendly and talented. Because the girls are so great the salon can sometimes be packed and there can be a wait. But it's like your favorite great place to eat there is always a wait. You can enjoy good music and a glass of wine or beverage while waiting your turn. It's the best salon in Pearland! read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY! I got an extremely unprofessional and low quality partial sew-in here about a month ago. The sew-in took over 4 hours and began unraveling two weeks after. There are pieces of string sticking out and the tracks have began completely coming off. I intially had an appointment scheduled with Rosa at 9am on a Saturday. I understand emergencies happen, however she never contacted me directly to inform me she was running late, if she was going to show up or not, or check if I was okay with someone else doing my hair nor did she follow up to see if I was satisfied with my services. Instead she informed a staff member and they seemed to not know when she would arrive. I was looking forward to getting my hair done with her because of the work I've seen. Her staff took good care of me and someone completed the requested service for me. However, if I didn't have an important event to attend the day of the appointment I would've walked out of the shop. I arrived at my appt for 1:00 pm and did not leave out until after 4:00! That's unacceptable considering I made an appointment. I seen a walk-in guest get in and out before I did. The wait was not even worth it. I'm very disappointed with the "silk press" I got from here. It looks more like a regular blow out and it was frizzy on the ends by the time I got home. NO LIE. It looks very amateurish & not salon quality at all & damn sure not worth $100!!! I could have done this myself for the same outcome ... for FREE! The stylist did not give me a proper trim nor did I receive proper hair care ( 2 different stylist washed my hair & neither of them was the stylist that actually did the silk press) my silk presses usually look nice for AT LEAST two weeks & that being just the minimum! That's the price you pay when you try a new place I guess! I guess they only do a good job on regular clients that they post on IG, other than that they do not care .. TYPICAL! If I could leave no stars I would. For starters I paid for a service I did not receive. I was supposed to get a level 2 silk press which includes a hydration treatment that I did not get. While detangling my hair the stylist ripped though my head with a brush. And when it came to trimming me I received a 2 inch haircut. The stylist cut my hair with no regard to what I wanted because she "thought" it was what I needed. This was the first and last time I will return to this salon and I advise no one else to go. read more
