I've been going here since they first opened, and my son has graduated from playing with the toys in the fully stocked and very convenient "kids area", to looking at chapter books while I browse the rare and obscure selections from social sciences, geography, history, you name it. More Than Words is a nonprofit bookstore that sells new and used books while supporting young…read morepeople ages 16-24 who are system-involved, including youth from foster care, court-involved backgrounds, housing insecurity, and more. The young people help run the store, learn job skills, and work toward personal and career goals--and it truly shows in the care and pride behind the space. The shop itself is small but mighty. I walked out with four excellent-condition used books (three of which had already been on my TBR list) and somehow also added two cookbooks because... no regrets. Everything was very affordable, and it felt good knowing my purchase was directly supporting youth in the local community. If you're near one of their locations (I believe there's another in the Boston area), I highly recommend stopping in or checking out their online storefront. Great books, great prices, and an even greater mission--absolutely worth supporting.

I pre-ordered a…read morebook several months ago that arrived with a stain on the front cover, rather than risk them shipping another I decided to go to the store (30 minute drive) to do the exchange. After roaming around the store, I finally found the book (upstairs) and the restrooms (downstairs) - did I miss the store directory somewhere??? - and headed to the line. It was just before noon on a weekday and only one person was working at the register. I was 6th in line and 3 of the people ahead of me had complicated transactions involving B&N membership, what tote bag to pick out, etc...... FINALLY another employee came to the register (no one called for her, she just happened to be walking by) as I was the next in line, my exchange involved no paperwork and took about 15 seconds. During peak times, a second employee really needs to stay close and help out!!!

The employees were nice and can system search by author/title, but they couldn't do a search by general topic/genre.

Where else can you find beautiful hardcover books on the fall of Constantinople, Napoleon, and Led Zeppelin, accompanied by peaceful music, courteous staff, and a beautiful day?
