my absolute favorite spot in queen anne (and seattle so far since i moved here in 21). the pictures aren't updated here and this place gives vampiric, sensual, moody, date night vibes. the cocktails are awesome and there's so many to choose you'll have to come back to finish the list. they also have GREAT wine, including orange wine! ;) the food is easy and delicious. my go to is the chicken crunchwrap supreme. and the s'mores churros if i have a sweet tooth. the service is unmatched. i do frequent this bar and some of them know my face, but everytime they're super accommodating. on two espérate occasions they made me a custom drink bc i wasn't sure what i wanted and they just helped me get something off the menu. it was awesome! read more

It is located about a block off of Mercer St. In lower Queen Anne. The ambience is ok, but I have to give 4 stars for the service as well as the drinks. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. I only had two dirty martinis (vodka and special bartender recommended gin base) and it almost knocked me off of my feet. They were strong and delicious. The service wise, friendly waitress and also the manager stopped by to check up on us. It was refreshing to see the manager come around just to say hello. I've been to this place 2-3 times now and I like the chill vibe and the fact that it's lesser known. The owner and staff is friendly, the bar tender is great and accommodating and the drinks are super. They also have a wide menu ranging from cocktails to wine to the usuals. The only time I ate food (tostadas), it was surprisingly good too! My only pain point (and the reason for one star less) is the price. For a place that's not *supposed* to be fancy, we ended up paying $150+tax and tip for 5 drinks and 2 tostadas. P.S. the place is dog friendly too! :) read more

Oh, Sitting Room, I have no clue how I work next to you and don't find myself visiting you Every. Single. Day. Probably better on my wallet, eh? I enjoy their happy hour and their menu in general. Drink-wise, I'm a little lazy here. I just go for a glass of the house red. On my last visit, my friend had a few well drinks that she rather enjoyed as well. The Much More Dangerous thing for me here is the food. Specifically the European-Style Smoked Salmon and the Pasta with Pesto Béchamel. The pasta was perfect, and even the capers seemed to be JUST the right texture and flavor to go with the salmon! There's some part of me that wants to go in there and order those things again and again and again. So, uh.. yeah. I'm quite fond of The Sitting Room because it's a good place to catch up with a friend, perhaps have a date, gather with a small group, or enjoy pre-Intiman (Theater) drinks and food. I really should give into temptation more often, and enjoy more happy hours there. What do you think? read more

Loved the ambience, loved the food, loved the service. We ordered chips with guac and salsa, crunchy wraps, street tacos, churro and cocktails. Everything was amazing. I can't wait to come back to the Sitting Room. My friends have been raving about this place for months so I was excited to finally try it last week--and I was not disappointed. Fortunately I had an experienced patron with me, so everyone can benefit from her ordering wisdom. First, the tartine--it was a tender baguette topped with a sweet spread (plum? geeze, I need to start taking notes...), tangy gorgonzola, prosciutto and lightly toasted. It was delicious and is a must-order. We had a very tasty bruschetta which I believe had carmelized onions and chevre. Next up was the cheese plate. I'm not exactly a cheese snob, but I enjoyed two of the three selections (I'm not a fan of dry, musty sheep cheeses). The portion size doesn't compare to what you'd get in France, but it was above average for Seattle. We also had a selection of olives and some very tasty roasted almonds. The cocktails were top-notch. My manhattan was perfect and came with the twist I requested. They don't have a margarita special, but the bartender made an excellent one nonetheless. My friend enjoyed their great happy hour deal on glasses of wine. Our server Doug was very friendly and helpful. All around a great experience and one I'm eager to repeat. read more

This is a fantastic place. It is an upscale, unpretentious and comfortable spot. The owner is pleasant and can be seen working just as hard as the staff. Jamie is a whole bunch of fun. Steve is so welcoming that make you feel like an old friend. Nathan knows his stuff and will give you valuable information. Brice is friendly and entertaining addition. Cozy and quaint bar/restaurant in the more low-key part of lower Queen Anne. I really enjoyed happy hour here. Service was attentive and the deals were fabulous. Ordered a $4 gin and tonic and shared a cheese plate and tapenade with my friend. Not a huge fan of olives in general, but the tapenade was good. Happy Hour! One of the fewer places that I found that have happy hour open til 7PM (most close around 6PM) Pâté au Poivre Noir ($7) - 5/5. Pork and chicken pate served with baby pickles, mustard and onions. Absolutely delicious and one of the better pates that I've had :] Tapenade & Croccantini ($4.50) - 4/5. Absolutely delicious if you love olives, it's basically a bunch of olives, herbs and garlic run through a food processor. Spread on a rosemary cracker - yums. Tartine ($7) - 3/5. Opted for the bleu cheese, fig preserves and prosciutto and it was delicious! The only downside was that the baguette was cut very thick (I'm used to thinner slices) and the proiscuitto was not spread across all the bread. Tucked away off the main drag (Mercer), The Sitting Room provides a nice neighborhood place to unwind with a glass of wine and light snacks. Inside, the lighting is dimmed and the ambiance warm. During the summer they open up the front and offer a small number of outdoor tables. Service is hit or miss and sometimes can be slow or a bit aloof. Food is decent. The tartine with prosciutto is one of my favs. Pate is very peppery. Bruschetta specials are decent. I prefer to order food if it's happy hour as I'm not sure it is worth the full price. They have a good wine selection, and a carafe of their sangria is perfect to be shared with a friend on a hot summer day. read more

We came here for dinner before going to see The Eagles at Climate Pledge. What a fantastic little restaurant!! We were seated at a love seat tucked into the front window. The height of coffee table was perfect for relaxing as well as eating from. My husband had a wrap with chicken and I had vegetarian street tacos. We don't drink alcohol and they had great tasting unique beverages for us which is a nice treat. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful and efficient. I wanted to expand my review of The Sitting Room to again rave about the service. Last fall, we hosted our wedding reception here, and it was phenomenal. Markus, the owner, really worked with us to have a broad selection of food for the guests, and since we are vegetarians, we had plenty of options, too. We were able to host a full bar, plus catered food, for a very reasonable price. Even better, it was no problem to bring our specialty dessert, a complicated French pastry from a bakery atop the hill. The Sitting Room will always have a very special place in our hearts. After being completely stuffed for the past 2 days, my friends and I visited The Sitting Room for a light dinner on our last night in Seattle. It was a Sunday night around 9pm, so I was expecting it to be a hip and lively place, but there were only two other tables in the restaurant. I thought maybe this wasn't the best choice, but I received a deal for $5 off any plate after checking in on Yelp and we're all suckers for deals, so we gave this place a shot. Good things - Ambience: It's dimly lit, filled with lounge chairs and candles. It would be a really cool place for a group to relax. - Kahlua Pecan Brie: Okay, this was so great. I love brie so maybe this is a biased judgment, but I thought that it was a pretty innovative take. I've never had it pan-fried, and definitely not with Kahlua (which you can't taste at all though). Only complaint is that it was a tad too sweet. I didn't expect it to be almost dessert-like, but it did come with multigrain bread to dip! - Caprese salad: This wasn't like other caprese salads I've had. There's an overwhelming amount of balsamic vinaigrette, but it was really great for dipping the bread into haha. The tomatoes were fresh, the herbs were nice, everything about this dish was pretty light and refreshing. The only thing I didn't really love was the Crab Rarebit, which tasted like high school lunch haha. Overall, the food wasn't AMAZING, but it was perfect for a smaller meal to share with friends. We were able to combine two yelp check-in deals, so we got $10 off our bill. Definite plus for that! read more

I've been here a few times for drinks and to meet friends. I love the atmosphere...dark and cozy. The low lighting and intimate table settings is nice for holding conversations where you don't have to shout at each other. If you're lucky you can score the settee or overstuffed chairs up front. I have always had a good experience with the staff. They are equal parts attentive and aloof so you don't feel overly pestered but my drink has rarely sat empty. The one piece that doesn't stick out for me is the drink menu which is a bit of a bummer if you're going out for a cocktail. Their alcohol selection is minimal with very little to no local or micro-distillery options. While the price point is not expensive, I'd rather fork over a buck or two more and have a quality drink I couldn't make at home than something that's just a solid B. read more

A group of friends and I were quickly seated at a table and the host was very friendly. Pretty good first impression. The waiter took our drink and food order. The overly loud music was slightly distracting and took away from the all-over classy ambiance (not that we are pretentious, classy people, it was just not expected and hard to talk to each other). Unfortunately the food arrived after a 30 min wait, before our drinks, which took another 10 min to arrive... mind you, the bartender was not busy even though the bar was pretty full. Not the bartenders fault. Our friends who arrived a little later had to ask about their drinks after 45 minutes and two of them cancelled their order and left. When we asked for the tab, the waiter was rude and defensive. Not sure if we were just unlucky with a new waiter or if all of their servers forget about the fact that customer service is their job. Love this place! It's a perfect place to come and have drinks with your best girl! The ambience is great and it's a place that makes you feel super comfortable. My girl and I ordered drinks and came in to have their creme brûlée. After ordering, our server came back minutes later and apologized that they had sold the last one about 40 minutes prior to us coming in. We were heartbroken but our server came back and told us that the owner was going to offer us anything on the menu for the same price as the creme brûlée.
