Absolutely love this place! We've done take out a few times during quarantine, and this was the very first place we went to for dine in service in phase 2. We love the Juanita's chili pie (essentially nachos) and the pork burrito the most. They are also great for cocktails to go (which, if my husband had his way and a bottomless wallet, we'd get multiple times a week). Our most recent order consisted of sausage breakfast burritos, and they were literally everything I hoped they'd be. Nothing fancy, just plain delicious. read more

I've been here a few times because it's close to a friends place in LQA. Their French 75's are so good but I went for a spicy habanero drink last time I was there and have been sold on that since. What a random little find! Met a girlfriend here for drinks and snacks and was not disappointed! Parking in the area is a bit tricky, but, oh well, that happens. I was greeted immediately and sat at a nice high table near the open window, great ambience, and whatever they were cooking up in the kitchen smelled AMAZING! Had the house white, fine, not too sweet, and then shared the burrata salad with my friend as well as the happy hour cheese plate. Very tasty and fresh for these last few days of summer. Service was very friendly, enjoyed the decorations of the space, and since we were there for a Thursday, there was live jazz music! We came here last night before hump(ing). Before you get all worked up about what I just said, note that the Stranger's 4th Annual Amateur... err... erotica festival was right around the corners at On the Boards. Knowing what we were about to see, we decided to pop in for a quick drink. If you've ever been to the festival, you probably know that a cocktail helps 'lube' or ease the eyes with what shows on the big screen for almost 2 hours. We walked in and the place was packed. No surprise, as the fest was sold out for all 3 showings that night. We found a table near the front right away and waited for some help. A good 5-7 minutes later, after we'd seen a server walk by us several times, a sweet gal handed us menus and said she'd be right back, which she was. I ordered the Malbec (they were out) and settled for another spanish red, of which the name escapes me at this moment. The bf had a Manhattan, which according to him, was alright. The ambiance is good, the service once we had it was attentive and good, Downfalls- even with a table, you might wait and wait and wait. Oh, and the bathrooms are pretty bad (they need a good scrubbin' ) and they don't fit with the rest of the ambiant decor. I've got every intention to come back for a bite here one of these days. The menu looks very good and I've always wondered about their cheese plate. Get those toities in check and I'll be a happy camper! read more

The Sitting Room has always been on my list to try. We came here before a show. At first sight, I thought this place was closed but the door opened and was buzzing with fun.You walk in to a dim, romantically lit, spacious place that's nothing less than cozy and charming. Our waiter was pretty attentive and helped us find something we'd all enjoy. Happy Hour is a great deal! I got there late so didn't partake in any food before the show but from what it looked like, everyone enjoyed it. If you're looking for a change of pace from the usual places everyone frequents, I'd suggest stopping in. Overall great experience, I'll be back to try it for real! read more

What a lovely, jazzy little spot with wonderful art and dim lights! We planned my husband's launch party here for an event with 30 people and this venue was a great choice for our special occasion. The Sitting Room is classy and sophisticated and a nice place for an intimate event. If you're considering the Sitting Room for a party, I would not recommend it for a crowd larger than what we had but it was perfect for our size. Excellent event spot! The manager we worked with in reserving our area was also so nice. Not only were there no drink minimums (which you rarely find anywhere these days) but he allowed us to bring in an outside cake, hang a poster, and have balloons. He was very easy going and accommodating for our needs and that was absolutely the best part because we really wanted to make the launch party personalized. Too many times it's been the case where you'll have to deal with an uptight manager who is very strict and lacks understanding for your party needs. We ordered some tapas which were great - the bruschetta, hummus, almonds etc. Our server for the night was sweet as can be and very friendly accomodating us as well. Since having our party there, two other friends are planning to have their respective birthday parties here. Everyone was so impressed! What a great little find and wonderful place for a nice and intimate occasion. read more

When you first hear about the Sitting Room, you might think of overstuffed loungers littered by college students conversing in a dimly lit cave in lower Queen Anne- and if so, you would be completely mistaken. It's more like a longish hallway filled with tables short and tall- no college students in sight, and walls lined with European art. At the end of the hallway, a tiny bar. It's the perfect place to grab some small plates of smoked wild salmon (phenomenal), roasted beet salad or kahlua pecan brie with multi-grain toasts while conversing under the orange glow of tall floor lamps. There's a warmth, coinciding with a chill vibe ambiance that will probably have you taking off your coat to sit a while. read more

Oooooo...I like! I am a big fan of the Sitting Room. So sexy and cozy. Beautiful dim lamps and small candles cast a warm glow throughout the room. Great happy hour with $3.50 well drinks and $4.00 glasses of wine. Some of their plates are half off during happy hour. They change the ingredients on their Bruschetta weekly. This week is cream cheese with caramelized pears and apples and drizzled with honey. Light, sweet, and very good. Smoked salmon plate is fresh and quite good. Cucumber Martini is practically perfect. Not sweet whatsoever and not overpowered with cucumber. Simply refreshing and good. I am impressed and will definitely be back for more. read more

Annoyingly hovering yet somehow also slow service. 20% Service charge assigned to bar service (and perhaps others) which is likely why everything is so slow and bitchy; they're getting paid no matter what they do. I would think that this place would be more comfortable with a name like "the sitting room." I was thinking there might be places to sit instead of little high perched stools that made me feel like some kind of alcoholic vulture. House cocktails seem alright if you dont mind $9 drinks. I liked the environment at the sitting room. The server made great wine recommendations. Their menu needs some help. You can have a small menu, but still still offer variety-a concpt they need to explore. Everything seemed to have common ingredients and common flavors. Gourmet cooking is a hobby of mine and I remember the day I realized I was in a rut and that everything I was making seemed to taste the same. I was drawn to the same flavors and no matter how my meal was planned always went down the path of what was becoming my signature flavor. It became predictable. I've emerged from this and really had to step outside my comfort zone and not think about what I like when I'm cooking. I feel like this restaurant is in the "restaurant version of this 'rut.'" We ordered antipasti and tapanade. The tapanade was on the antipasti dish and the separate tapanade didn't have anything extra (but some yummy crackers) so we had lots of tapenade. Still hungry we ordered a cheese platter. The cheese we got was the same cheese that came with the antipasti, garnished with the same things as the other two apetizers...This continued with the meats... Even if the cheese would have been accompanied by a fruit spread or honey (something sweet) it would have changed everything. I feel like no matter what we ordered we got the same thing and it tasted the same. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but I don't know how to best describe where they went wrong, if you haven't had a similar experience. Poor menu planning, perhaps. I feel like maybe they have a small kitchen, limited sorage...A talented chef could make it happen with less. Ihope you appreciate where I'm coming from. I hope they fix this because this place has a lot of potential, but for now its a cute place to go for drinks before or after dinner. Overall this is a great little happy hour spot with many delicious drinks and nibbles. We partook in (probably) too many. The street parking is hardish, but there is a paid gravel lot across the street. Not a huge beer selection: Lucile, New Belgium, Stella, and a cider is all they had on draft. But I love Lucile so it's great for me! The Sitting Room has a very pleasing menu, I want to come back off happy hour so I can try more (obviously I have to order happy hour menu items during happy hour, mama didn't raise no fool). The happy hour olives, tapenade, cheeses, etc that we ordered were all great! The portion sizes were fairly good too. The service is fast, and there is a small patio by the sidewalk. On this weekend's trip to Seattle, I was fighting the cough from hell. I think the fact that it was chilly bones jones cold all weekend wasn't helping and so to combat the coughs and the runny nosage, my friend and i decided that a Hot Tottie would fix me right up! And so we traveled to this little place and ordered a round up, along with a few nibblies. We ordered the Bruschetta with blue cheese, pears and walnuts on a toasty, tasty bread, the salumi plate which was yummy with the cornichons and the olive tapenade. All were deelish, but the standout one was definitely the Bruschetta. Apparently they change it all the time, but this was one I will be stealing for my next dinner party. As for the place it is pretty sweet. Apparently it's a converted old mechanic's garage and they kept the theme going with the pull up door in the front, which was pretty neat. I've been here twice and will keep returning. In fact, I will make it a purposeful destination from Tacoma. The atmosphere is lovely. The sitting arrangements comfortable and roomy, you don't feel like you have to make "nice" with the people next to you. The music playing in the background is quite good and at a level that allows you to have pleasant conversations. The wait staff is phenomenal. They greet you warmly and are attentive without being overbearing. The bar staff does a great job with pours, while the wait staff make sure that your glass is not empty. The food is delicious. Bites as well as more substantial pair nicely with the wines they have. The tapenade is one of my favorites. A wonderful place to go and catch up with friends. read more

I had my first visit to the sitting room quite recently, and I will definitely be back. I was too late to enjoy their tasty-sounding menu of appetizers, but I can't wait! I had several delicious cocktails, but didn't feel like I was in a "cruisey" bar.... just a cool place to relax and unwind after a long day. The wine list seemed a little pricey and nothing caught my eye- this looks like the perfect spot for a cosy little wine bar, too, so it suprised me although I suppose I should taste them before judging. Love the sitting room! Their happy hour is awesome and when you are jonesin for some wine and cheese this is the place for you. The HH wine is great ($4 for either house red or white) and their cheeseboard is available for $6. They always bring you bread to go with it and take the time to explain what the cheese is and where its from. I also always get the salumi salami plate for $4. More than enough food for a light dinner. The service is great and I've had the same waiter all three times I've been there. Sometimes he gets a little crazy so you have to flag him down but he's always accommodating - even when the group I was with moved 3 times and had the smallest table in the world and ordered like a million plates of food. I have been to this place a number of times and have enjoyed the place. For the many years I have gone there, there has been he same waiter. Frankly for 4 + years hes worked there and he has always rubbed me the wrong way so I have chosen not to sit in his section. However this last Hump we went in with friends and I talked this place up a bit. The place was empty and got this waiter who was on his worst behaviour like usual. Here are some traits of waiters to be aware of to get returning customers and good tips. 1. NEVER take a guys drink away if its not empty without asking. 2. Don't come to the table ever 3 secs and ask that an order be put in. 3. Please bend down and speak with your customers don't look out into no where being a Jerk. 4. Its OK if you have friends visit you and you hug them but don't do that in front of the clients you are dismissing. Any rate I think you all get the picture about Mr. why would I care to serve you. Food is now mediocre at best, drinks are very weak. Frankly this is not the same Sitting room that it began as, its just shell. Oh and to Mr. Waiter next time don't insult your customer intelligence and give them two free drinks next time we come back... really you think we are going to come back the way you decided to treat us. read more

I'm happy to say that our server handled every curve ball we threw him with aplomb - our group started out as four, then became 9 in fits and spurts, then shrunk back down to four by the end of the night, and every one of us was promptly attended to throughout the evening. We even ended up ordering another full round at closing time because the server was patient enough to let us make up our minds to do so. Also, if you can't bear the lines outside the door for Salumi, you can come here instead and get a Salumi Salami appetizer. I have come here on for happy hour on a sunny day. They open up the front. It's pretty quite during the weekday. Staff is attentive and fast. Their house wine was very good (sometimes house HH wines aren't the best). The HH menu isn't very big, plus I had a picky friend with me. This place is awesome! I met my friend Kat here before we went to see a movie screening a few blocks away and happened to find a cell phone and wallet on the ground on my way there. I called the last missed call and met with a man who is friends with the woman who lost her phone and wallet and returned the phone to him. Yay karma! Me and Kat ordered a rum and coke which was pretty strong for downtown. She ordered some olive snack and I ordered an Artisan Cheese Board which was small but delicious and just the right amount to tide me over until dinner after the movie. I love this place. Bar tending staff is of the highest quality in my book: always friendly and always willing to talk shop without any arrogance. Comfy seats encourage excellently drunken discussions with friends. Most of my jaunts here are in the wee hours, but my dinner experiences have been good as well. I can't say I know much about wine, but I approve of the Belgian Ales available. I liked The Sitting Room, its sort of in an odd spot (it's like in a mini strip mall)...but easy enough to find. I went the other day with a couple friends for some drinks. I only had their Roy St. Tea which was pretty good, too many lemons in it though, there were about 4 wedges and the glass wasnt that big. We had gone there for food, big whoops. This isn't the place to go if you're actually hungry for dinner. They just have apps here, but I ordered the bruschetta that had brie, salami, cherry tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves. It was pretty yummy. I enjoyed this place. It was never crowded while we there and it was on a Friday night from about 8-10:30 PM that we went. I'd go back! So it's pretty cool this place has house cocktails and nice beers on tap and in bottles, but the service is HORRIBLE. I don't even know why I came here again, after sitting at a table for 30 minutes before leaving last time I was there. Tonight we came in, went to the bar, bought two drinks, and went and sat at an out-of-the-way table. Ten seconds later Mr. Pretentious comes by and is like "Oh, do you guys want food?" Uh, no, it's 9:45pm thanks. "Did you close out your tab?" No, we just opened one... So after we finish our drinks and ask for our check, we wait around staring at the walls for half an hour until we walk to Mr. Pretentious for our check again, and he prints out a list of things we have purchased on our tab, but with no signature area. So we think it'd been applied to our tab, all's good, start leaving when he runs after us "No wait, you need to pay!! Let me explain this to you since you didn't understand." "I'm sorry you couldn't understand." Right, 'cause we're idiots and we ask for checks when we want to know how much money we've spent but not pay yet. Help us understand that Mr. Pretentious. You know the ways and must lead us. TIP FOR SUSHI PLACE 2 BLOCKS DOWN 1 HOUR BEFORE: 30%. TIP FOR MR. PRETENTIOUS: NO. Suggestion: After 9pm, stop table service. Let people order at the bar. Don't give people sitting at tables a hard time, they're your customers. This is how most places with a huge bar area work... being different could work, but being pretentious is "bad" different. As somewhat of a Francophile, I'm a sucker for bars like the Sitting Room. I was taken by the attention to detail put into making this place. The bistro tables with the authentic ornate table bases and marble tops. Light fixtures, artwork, WC signs it's all here to give you the feeling you are in France. They even use a pot Lyonnaise for their wine service and I've also noticed a couple of European accented servers. The place has a nice feeling to it. After work it is frequently crowded. Late night really cool feel with the dim lighting. Summertime the front opens up for an outdoor experience. With this great atmosphere, ambiance, it's too bad about the spotty service. It's been OK to poor. Slow getting to you and often a painfully long wait to get your drinks. We witnessed our drinks sitting on the bar for close to 10 minutes before our server brought them to us. On one occasion, we paid our tab with a couple of twenty's, waiter gave us change for $30 and didn't come back. When he finally did, and we pointed out his "error" he didn't bat an eye or even apologize and just nodded his head and gave us a ten, he knew it all along. The small plates are good but nothing too special. Perfectly adequate bites to go along with your drinks. Nice selection of European wines by the glass. Happy hour gets you a glass their current house wine for $4. If they upgraded their food service a bit and improved the level of the wait staff more than a bit, this would be my favorite bar in the city. Parking can be an issue. read more
