Wow! We had an amazing experience at The Ski Monster! We scheduled a 90-minute full ski fitting for 2 people on a Sunday afternoon and were set up with George. What a class act. George was patient and kind, especially with all our questions and requests. For example, I liked the feel of one boot and the look of another; George was able to find a boot that combined both aspects. He was more than happy to bring out 4 pairs of boots for me to try out to find the perfect pair of sleek, white stylish snow kicks. Hot take: I have found where I will get all my winter sports gear. Support local, especially when it's as awesome as George and The Ski Monster. Only thing folks should know is parking is tough. There's street parking (which is free on Sundays) if you can find any and garage parking if you can't. We paid $20 for 1.5 hours for reference. read more

I rode a ton of demo skis and was pretty sure which ski's I wanted but needed some advice before pulling the trigger. With the big national companies it was hard for me to get someone who had skied both ski's i had narrowed it down to. Luckily I came across Brady here who had skied both ski's and who gave me fantastic feedback! Not only that Ski Monster offered the best price I could find! I must have called him at least 3-4 times to confirm I was making the right decision and he was super patient, tolerant, and understanding. I can't say enough great things about Brady and the way he treated me! It's as good as everyone says. I went there with a pair of ski boots I kind of regretted buying because it hurt to use them. They were very methodical and knowledgeable about ski boot fitting, and they suggested some very practical and reasonably priced changes. They were also very positive and not at all condescending. And, for what it's worth the store is spacious and there were multiple people waiting to help on a Friday afternoon at the start of ski season. I've been to a good number of ski shops and seen a good number of people fit ski boots, and these guys may be the best - and their prices, for boot adjustments at least, are definitely on the low side (my bill came to 1/2 to 1/3 of what I was braced for). This store has the best service and knowledge. We've gotten equipment tuned and waxed here before and always had good experience. I came in this winter to get new skis and boots. Jared spent a few hours with me and friends who were also purchasing skis. He was knowledgeable and patient with our questions. He had great recommendations and was also very practical. I never felt like he was trying to up-sell me. He was able to give us discounts and the total package came in less than I had expected! While fitting the boots he even gave us a beer! They were able to get the bindings put on and skis tuned in just a few days so we could bring them on a weekend trip to Sugarloaf the following weekend. Just had the best experience today at Ski Monster with Andrew. After getting back into skiing last season after *many* years off I knew I was ready to commit to a full package (boots, bindings, skis). And it was MA's tax-free weekend, so...time to go all in. Loved, loved, loved that Ski Monster is appointment only. I had Andrew's full (and very knowledgeable) attention and didn't feel rushed or upsold at all. He understood where I was experience-wise and pulled together the best package for me. Sadly, they were out of poles in my size, but I'll definitely go back to buy them. I happened to be visiting family in Boston and decided to stop by the Ski Monster to try on some ski boots. It didn't take long to learn why they have a five star rating. As a first the buyer of ski boots, I was starting to get frustrated by my attempts to shoehorn my Doritos shaped feet into narrow Italian ski boots that were recommended to me at other shops. Fortunately, Brady was available to help me at the Ski Monster and offered a couple of options after measuring my feet and ankles. I was surprised when he nailed the fit with his very first recommendation! Not only was the boot comfortable, but the flex rating and price point were in the right range. Before letting me out the door, Brady warmed up the boots and fitted them to speed up the break-in process (at no additional cost). I was very lucky to make it out to Wachusett two days later, and was amazed at the the comfort and support offered by the boots. They performed exactly as described, and Brady's adjustment tips helped me get them dialed in after a few runs. Nowadays it's so easy to comparison shop online to find the best deals, but places like the Ski Monster backs their selection with expertise that is not easily found elsewhere. I am the original cranky customer I hate everybody. But... I love the Ski Monster and the shop is first rate. From Sharpening and tuning to boot fitting I can't even imagine a better place to go. Dylan spent a good hour with me molding my liners and fitting my boots. He was able to find just the right shape for my newly constructed left foot and moved some buckles for me to accommodate my 13EEEs. they don't even sell Telemark equipment but spent as much time with me as they might have had I actually bought the boots there. The ski selection and all terrain equipment in particular is as deep as you'll find anywhere in New England. The people who work here know their shit. if you're serious skier it's worth it to check these guys out even if the parking sucks. read more

These guys do a lot of online retail but run their brick and mortal business out of East Coast Alpine on Comm Ave. I had a great customer service experience here and would absolutely recommend this place to friends. When you go in make sure you ask for Eric. That guy was super helpful and answered all the questions I had about my new boots, planks and bindings. Ski equipment is a big investment so it's good to know that a knowledgable dude is helping you out and making sure you get everything right. I was in here on a Tuesday night and my new skis fitted with awesome AT bindings were ready to go on Thursday. I'm sure they could set you up faster if you need it. The inventory is huge! They have everything from in-bounds carvers to off-piste pow shredders so it helps to have a good idea of what you're looking for before you go in. But nonetheless even if you're a complete ski/snowboard beginner you'll walk out with all of your questions answered and some sweet new gear. On a side note, parking on Comm Ave is epic fail. Park on Amory Street instead. It's right next to the shop. read more

I shopped here in January for new ski boots and the guy measured my feet and then brought out boots, size 26.5, that he said were definitely the right size for my feet. I tried them on and told him several times that they were too tight. He refused to even bring out a pair the next size up, 27.5, because he said those would definitely be too big for my feet and he told me the 26.5 boots would break in and expand after I wore them a couple times. I believed him and bought the boots and skied once a few days later. The boots were so tight I had to go inside after every 3 or 4 runs to take my feet out of the boots because both my feet felt like they were going to die from the tightness. Then, a few days later, both of my big toe nails completely broke off because of how tight the boots are. I tried returning and exchanging them at Ski Monster for 27.5 boots but they didn't allow me cause the return policy states if you've already skied in the boots, you can't return them. After I showed them my broken toe nails, they blamed me saying my skiing style must have caused the broken toe nails, which is non sense because my whole foot felt too tight, not only the front toe nails. So I wasted $500 on these ski boots and will have to buy new ski boots when I ski again next season (but I won't be going back to the Ski Monster!). A few days ago, I was at my friend's house and he owns 27.5 size ski boots, so I tried them on for a few minutes, and they fit perfectly! After the guy at Ski Monster refused to even bring out that size for me to try on saying they would be too big.... read more

I got my ski boots from the Ski Monster. Although i love internet shopping I didn't want to purchase the ski boots from online (actually it is difficult to but it without trying the boots) so I decided to go to the ski monster for boot fitting. I wanted to spend least amount of time to shop although I know it takes time to buy good ski boots. The guy who helped me was very informative and he knew what I was looking for. It took less than 30 minutes to pick the boots I liked. Also I got $50 off, which was a good deal even compared to the price from online. This is my first yelp review, and I hope you read it. I've had an outrageous amount of discomfort with my current ski boots, purchased at a ski shop in New Jersey. I thought to take them into ski monster for any sort of advice. George spent at least one hour with me, understanding my discomfort and shaping my boots to mold to those issues. I had the best experience at Ski Monster this year! I was in need of new equipment having worn out he useful life of my ski boots. Although I was only planning on purchasing a new pair of boots, I walked away with a whole new set up which has been a HUGE benefit to me and my ability. I'm now on the right equipment and I love it. Dylan really took the time and was fair with pricing. Not pushy at all - just genuinely wanted to see me on the right equipment. These guys are experts and clearly love what they're doing. Went in to get my boyfriend fitted for ski boots. He has snowboarded his whole life but is brand new to skiing. The sales associate we had, Dylan, was awesome. Super knowledgeable and really cool. After seeing him take my boyfriend through the fit process I began to question my own boots as I had never been fit like that. He was giving me tips and offered to take a look at the boots I had to see if they were the right fit, which was awesome since I happened to have them in the car. He also answered apparel questions I had about ski gear I hadn't even bought in the store. 10/10 would recommend and will go back next time I need something. These guys are GREAT! Super friendly, helpful, informative, without trying to push you into buying something or spending more than you're comfortable. Their biggest concern is getting you back out on the mountain! Dylan explained exactly why the used boots I found on the cheap were giving me so much pain in my shins (wrong size AND worn down lining) and helped me find the right size and fit in a new pair. Was even willing to help me come up with ways to make my current pair last through my weekend ski trip if I couldn't find a new pair in my budget. Once I'm ready to pull the trigger on getting new skis, this will be my first stop. Re: parking. Can't speak for weekends, but I've had no trouble finding a metered spot on Canal St or nearby side street during weekday mornings/afternoons. Last time I got a spot right outside the shop. Wow what a discovery!! Recently stopped in to check out boots and was taken aback by the choices and availability of the inventory in everything. Awesome staff...Brady is the best...very knowledgeable and a great teacher. As in previous reviews I had to almost convince them that I wanted more equipment ...great prices. The absolute best example of customer service I have ever experienced. I was looking to buy a new pair of ski boots for the first time, and both Dylan and George were extremely knowledgeable as well as helpful. They found me a boot perfect for my weird foot shape, and when the fit wasn't perfect out of the box, they stretched them for me for free 5 different times to get it just right. I always felt like they were legitimately invested in even the most minor issues I would bring up with them, and they were always happy to help. I found my way to Ski Monster based on reviews as well as location. They're steps from Haymarket which makes it so easy to get to via T and every time I've driven in, I've been able to find a spot on Canal Street (helps to check the Garden's schedule beforehand). The shop is large, bright, and has a great atmosphere. It was hopping in the after work hours at the start of ski season, but now that we're nearing the end, it's been quick to find someone to work with. I went in for the first time back in November to see if anything could be done with my boots. Turns out, they were too big so we found a new pair. I got them heat molded to my feet while enjoying a beer. On the mountain, they weren't the dream they felt like in store and I've been back twice for some adjustments. The turnaround time has been pretty quick and I've definitely noticed an improvement. My husband also bought skis from them this season and absolutely loves them. The guys are all pleasant and helpful and I've really gotten the vibe that they want to make sure my boots are the best fit possible. I've worked with George a bunch, but the other guys I interacted with were knowledgeable and friendly. I'll eventually need to replace my skis due to age and Ski Monster will be my first stop. read more

After purchasing skis, boots, bindings, jackets, gloves, and goggles from this shop- I can confidently recommend it for anyone looking to buy ski/snowboard gear. The staff is remarkably honest about the items on their shelves and do not just try to push the most expensive products in your face. During my last visit to the shop, I had the pleasure of being helped by Andrew and Neil. Andrew held my hand throughout the boot fitting process while Neil guided me through their selection of new skis. Both gentlemen listened my desired and provided me with their honest feedback about personal experiences on the products. Andrew encouraged me to step into a slightly smaller and stiffer boot while Neil inspired me to try a mildly longer ski. After shredding this combination for the past season I could not be happier with the result. Andrew's boot recommendation provided me with a greater natural knee flex, drove my shins forward, and comfortably compressed my heels into the boot heel pockets - a position that I didn't even know existed. Neil's extra length recommendation gave me more stability through less than ideal snow conditions and made fast/long turns feel like a walk in the park. I truly can not say enough good things about this shop. Each time I walk into The Ski Monster it feels like I am visiting friends. The store carries the vibe of a chill NYC penthouse lounge coincidentally filled with a wide variety of each season's hottest ski gear. From the comfortable boot fitting sofas, to the occasional complimentary IPA, to employees spinning the smoothest tracks to ever bless your ears- you are guaranteed to have a fun time in this building. The Monster is more like the kind of ski shop you find on mountain where the staff are genuinely excited about skiing and snowboarding and that makes it fun for me to come here. Unlike the staff at some other city shops, the Monster staff are not just salespeople - they are actually knowledgeable and helpful. I had my skis tuned here several times last season and the technicians really knew their stuff. This year, after trying 5 pairs of skis, I found a pair I loved so I looked for them online to get a good price. I did find a great deal online but decided I would rather do business with the Monster.
