Great experience visiting for the first time a few weeks ago. Konrad (might be the owner?) was kind enough to let me into the store an hour early, as there was a discrepancy between the opening time on the website and the store. I got a fantastic price on a year old model of ski boots which included a half off servicing of my skis. He was also very helpful in putting my ski bag and poles, which I had accidentally left behind, aside for safekeeping. Clearly a thoughtful business with great consideration for the customer. Reliable, reasonably priced, friendly service, and great work. I have been going here for several years to get skis and snowboard tuned up. I've always been happy with the prices and service. (Also rented skis for my daughter for the season one year - excellent quality rentals at a very reasonable price.) This year, however, the service individual for the ski shop who tuned my snowboard went above and beyond. He was very helpful and friendly and clearly extremely knowledgable. Wow, what a gem in Stoneham. I stopped by to buy a pair of boots because we are headed up to the mountain soon. They were packed and still found a way to make sure everyone was taken care of. I was able to get in and out in about 30 minutes, finding the exact pair of boots I needed, and getting great advice on how to maximize comfort and performance. I didn't know anything about skis, except I wanted to ski with my kids... So, I went to Ski Haus and REI for information, expecting to purchase my first pair of skis at either place. Both places were super helpful, but neither had the right product for me (I'm definitely not picky, but those place either had low inventory, or didn't understand that I'm an intermediate, and I don't need advanced boots for $600). The staff at the Ski Shack were great. Knowledgeable, respected my budget, and didn't try to sell me equipment I didn't need. And, once we found a pair of boots that worked, the process was pretty quick. The only issue was that inventory was low, but that's really my fault for waiting until after Christmas to purchase skis. I'll go back there next year to get equipment for my daughters, and I've already recommended them to a few friends. read more

I was in need of mounting my bindings on my new board and also getting some new gear. I called earlier in the day and spoke to Konrad. He was very knowledgeable and helpful and answered all my questions. Once I arrived, Konrad was able to help me right away. He was nice enough to show and teach me how to do it myself. Very patient and knowledgeable. I picked up some socks and a ratchet tool. When it came to check out, Konrad only charged me for the socks and ratchet tool. He said not to worry about the cost for the board setup. AWESOME!! He said it was on the house! Great way to keep me coming back here! My daughter will be needing ski's soon and Konrad with be the guy I go to! Thank you again as I can't wait to start shredding the mountain on my new board. Great little shop! read more

Service was great here. I had a pair of new bindings I got elsewhere and needed help mounting it on to my board for a trip in a few days. I called the store, the owner was very friendly, set me up to work with Devon, whom I met in person and was also pretty courteous. Usually around this time of the year it takes 7 days for turnaround, but he rushed it in 2 days and charged a very decent price. I was hesitant to come here at first because there was no review of this place, but I'm glad I did. Thanks to Devon, he knew what he was doing, no hassle in and out. Checking around the store, while there were some skis and skateboarding selections, the store seemed to be more geared for snowboarding. The guys that work there also seemed pretty relaxed, like a mom-and-pop store. read more

I have nothing but delightful things to say about this place. I went in with a couple of friends to pick up some very affordable and decent rental skis before a weekend trip and whoops, ending up buying new skis and boots for myself. They had a great sale going on and I couldn't say no. Low and behold a couple weeks later I realized that the boots I'd bought were too big and I'd overlooked it during the blissful, new-boot honeymoon. I'm an instructor and ski at least 2x a week, so I couldn't really let it go. I called and the owner assured me that they guarantee their boot fits and to bring them in. I brought them in and Devin was super helpful and understanding about the whole thing. After trying to reshape the ones I had, they ended up setting me up with the smaller shell and fitting the new ones to my feet. Will definitely be back and sending all of my skiing and instructor friends here too! read more

Went in to Ski & Sport Shack to see if they could fix a broken strap on my binding. They took it right away, fixed it in less than 10 minutes and they didn't even charge me for it! I have been dealing with the ski & sport shop for quite a few years now and have nothing but good to say. My experience is always positive and I think it is because they are extremely helpful & knowledgeable. In the past few years I purchased new ski boots, excellent deal and were the right fit from the get go. Just recently they installed new bindings on my skis, the existing ones were no longer safe. Used them the following weekend and they were terrific and also I got a good deal with them & a tune up. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

This place is way too expensive. I paid $169 (+$25 insurance) for a season rental for Junior skis. I didn't need the poles, but had to pay for them anyway. Ski Haus charges $89 for a ski & boot package, plus you get lots of discounts on lift tickets to go with it. So yeah, I'm not ever coming back here. read more

I went to the Ski & Sport Shack recently for the first time to buy a pair of ski boots. I talked to Alex and told him what I was looking for and how much money I wanted to spend. He was very helpful and spent a good amount of time showing me different models and having me try them on. He never pressured me and always respected my price point. I ended up getting a 2012 model of atomic ski boots and the owner gave me a great deal. I had some issues with the size of the boot after I made the purchase and Alex went out of his way to help me with the problem. I have had 2 different pairs of skis mounted at this shop. They are knowledgeable about skiing/mounting and do a good job. They had mounted my skis to a true center mount and remounted to factory recommendations, after my request at no charge. Recently moved to N Shore and was looking for someone to do custom work on my ski boots. Checked out Dalbello's website and they listed Ski & Sports Shack as a dealer. Called this place three times and talked to three different people and no one could help. Kept telling me the only guy who knows about boots is Nick. So I left three messages with not one call back. Finally went to Ski Stop in Westwood and they hooked me up quickly, realizing the ski season is not endless. Awesome experience! 10 days later I get a text from Nick letting me know he got my message. Couldn't even call. Must be rolling in money and doesn't need new customers. read more

I've been coming to this place for the last 4-5 years and the staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. To know this store has been around for over 10+ years, says something about it and it's staff. My most recent visit was for a snowboard tune-up and Konrad specifically was very helpful to provide input on my current board and also helped with my older board. They were recently bought out, but the staff is the same and I am sure they will continue to provide the best service for all! I also have a bike and will be bringing that in for a tune-up as well! Great shop in Wakefield Center. One of the few independants left out there where customer service still matters. They had exactly what the kids needed a snowboard boots and bindings for my son and everything from boots to poles for my daughter. Awesome staff and a great atmosphere. I brought my skis in for a tune up, and paid extra for a 'custom' hand wax and rush service (with their definition of rush being five days). When I picked up my skits, the bottoms were a mess. It looked like they used candle wax, and left most of it on. Wax was still on the edges as well. There was a gash on the top of the skis that was NOT there when I dropped them off. When I pointed all this out to them, they insisted they checked all tunes before going out the door - I am assuming this is done by a blind person? They offered to do it again but I was not about to leave my gear there again to get further ruined. I tried to give a local shop a chance, and will never step foot inside this store again. read more

Brought in my board to have them ptex a couple of deep scratches on the base. The owner convinced me due to the dreadful state of my edges to have a full tuning done for $53. Brought the board home and noticed that the guy who worked on it didn't scrape all the wax off. There was also a spot of wax and residue from the work order sticker on the topsheet The ptexing and the edges looked good but for over $50 I shouldn't have to finish off the wax job at home. read more

Epic customer service !!! After calling ski market and sun and sport or whatever that terrible corporations name is, I used my yelp app to find these guys. I remember seeing this place disappear from the Wakefield square area and being bummed another small business had caved.... Or so I thought ! They located inside the bicycle store on Main Street stoneham. I called and explained that I was leaving in the am for Breckinridge Colorado and was trying to get a quick Wax / tuneup for my skis and was there anyway they could do this ? He said sure no problem come on in! I don't know where we have come as a materialistic consuming society, but I miss the days where you can walk into a place without a fucking appointment and still get serviced. Remember that america ? Those were the good ole days. My reps at the store couldn't have been nicer and even though they charge an extra $11 for the rush, it's well worth it. They did a great job on my hell and back skis and I picked up a nice travel bag for my skis as well. The location is great Thera parking on the side street as well and they are certainly here to help. Small business is absolutely where it's at, suck it corporate america and your terrible chains. read more

Worst place to buy ski/snowboard stuff. Everything is way over priced. You're better off going to dicks sporting goods. The employees are always high off weed and the owner doesn't have any respect. Their return policy is awful too. They don't explain it to you, so make sure you read up about it and look at the products you're buying before you actually buy them. read more

I ended up at this ski shop by pure accident. A coworker of mine had recommended a place around here but I somehow remembered the wrong name and ski shack seem the closest to what I remembered. I drove here late on a Friday night just before they closed, while we were on the way to Sunday River for the weekend. We had decided that we wanted to buy our gear this time around. These guys apparently had just sent out an email to that list with a deal of 2-for-1 on all gear but the signs weren't even posted in the store yet. After browsing around for a few minutes, the sales rep didn't want us to leave empty-handed so he offered the deal to us. Both my husband and I bought boots, skis, and poles. We got a great deal and even better, when I realized the boots I had purchased were way too big the owner, Nick, took the boots back and ordered me a pair that fit perfectly! I'm so thankful! This place is really laid-back and has a great understanding of customer service and the value of a customer! read more

A pinnacle of customer service from a retail store! I had a friendly personalized experience while renting skis and other gear. Pricing was amazing! They were very accommodating when my ski plans changed due to weather. They we're happy to let me use my equipment another day without charging extra for more time. The owner is proud of his store and it shows with the excellent customer service provided by everyone. I would recommend to all to rent from here.
