NO WAY WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. We paid close to $7,000 for a yard they measured to be 3991 footage and Nate Budd said they would come and "Remove all the old grass and install St. Augustine Provista" They came and dug up our front yard and did not bother to smooth it out before putting down the Provista. So now we have a very uneven yard where water puddles and gates that are difficult to open even though they came back to fix. We have what Nate Budd said was bahia grass and we should go to Tractor Supply and purchase weed killer to spray the bahia and it should work. Exactly what does it mean "We will remove all the old grass???" We live on a fixed income and are not able to maintain a difficult lawn is why we paid this amount of money for Sod Lot to take care of it but here we go again having to spray weeds. Our approximately $200 a month water bill to maintain the Provista just grows the weeds. So save your money. read more

paid 3k to have my front yard resodded and within months i have MULTIPLE types of grass and many dead spots. I did everything they asked me to do even hiring there sprinkler guy for an additional $150.00 to repair the sprinklers they broke and make sure everything was ok as far as water. The yard looks worse now than it did before. Tried to get them to work with me, they said they would replace one pallet of sod if I paid for the material they would do the labor for free. it's been over a month and they have not fixed anything. Stay away far away. Unreliable, low quality grass, poor management. High priced. They have grasses just not good quality sod.

TL;DR: Don't hire The Sod Lot. Company reps tell me my situation is an outlier. Read my review and decide for yourself. Can charge a credit card lightning fast: We're new to the area (military transplants). I had a rep come by our house to measure, and leave a quote. I called them July 2022 to book an install. Within minutes of hanging up, my credit card was charged, receipt in my inbox. This level of efficiency would never be seen again. Can't communicate: On Thursday, we had 11 pallets of sod delivered, blocking our garage door. I was told installation would only take a day. On Friday, I called at 08:50am (spoke with Renee, always very nice) and asked about arrival time. Told it's normal to start around 10. Called again at 11:20am, Renee says they're behind, but will arrive at lunch. At 12:53pm I got a call from a man who said a dumpster couldn't be delivered, so they'd need to try again tomorrow. I asked about the sod sitting in the heat; company states you need to install the sod within 24 hours of delivery, but this guy swears you have up to three days. Same day 1:45pm there are two men in my yard tearing up grass. About 4:30pm, I was working and I lost connection. I went outside, confirmed they hit the line, maybe ten minutes later they had left without an explanation and sod still sitting in the driveway not installed like promised. Can't explain why their subcontractor steals: That afternoon, I checked on the guys periodically. I noticed some sod in the back of their truck that wasn't there earlier. When I checked on the internet line, I saw an obvious missing pile of sod from the pallet closest to the street (see photos). The next morning, I confronted the same guy driving the truck, asking why he took our sod? He awkwardly replied he was told to take 20 pieces by "Dustin," and return 20 pieces "later." Despite talking to Dustin, Renee, and Steven, no one stated that was ever directed or explained what happened. Can't manage customer service issues: I got to spend the afternoon and evening trapped in the house (pallets blocking garage), with no ability to work my job or turn in school assignments. The next morning (Saturday) a crew showed up around 7:30am. I spoke with Renee again, requesting to speak with a manager and with some persuasion was directed to the Regional Manager, Dustin. Told him about everything, and even though he personally had nothing to do with it, this was the first person to offer a sincere apology for the way I was treated. After he confirmed he spoke with the installer, he promised the job would be completed that day (it wasn't), and I would be "compensated" for all the issues that had transpired so far. Spoiler, that doesn't happen. Can't measure: They left that day after installing 11 pallets of sod, and I still had 1K sqft of our front yard that was bare (see photo). It was clear whoever came to the house, measured, and gave us a quote measured incorrectly. Can't right a wrong: Steven (manager), showed up Monday to measure the bare spot and confirm the pallet count (3). He apologized for the chaos, and stated sod would be delivered and installed Wednesday (all at no cost to me). Tuesday, Steven called back, they couldn't do the job tomorrow, but could do it next Monday. On Monday 3 pallets of sod were delivered, but not installed. Can't follow their own directions: At 3:30pm Tuesday they finally showed up to finish the job. The best part was watching them roll heavy wheelbarrows over the grass that was just installed a week ago to get it to the bare spots instead of going around (see photo). After the job was done, I asked about the compensation mentioned previously. What I was told was our "compensation" was the sod and installation at no cost (their own mistake). I brought up all the other wrongs done, and they didn't care. If the only wrong done was not measuring correctly, and they fixed it by bringing more sod and installing it at no cost, we'd be fine. But that's not the case. Because they've witnessed our struggle over multiple weeks, our neighbors haven't asked for The Sod Lot's info to get work done, they've (unprompted) asked for their name to ensure they never use them. The Sod Lot serving St Augustine is worth every penny! We did some shopping around and The Sod Lot was fair price for sod and delivery. After leaving a voicemail, they quickly returned our call. The owner spoke with us about the different types of sod and helped us make a decision. Two pallets were delivered the next day in excellent condition. We were told to call if we had any questions. BUYER BEWARE - they sell the product, but don't stand behind it. I bought two pallets of sod for delivery. The delivery driver was great and is the only reason I allocated two stars representing the first pallet - it was beautiful, thick, green pieces of grass, all uniformly cut. It made six perfect rows of grass when we put it down. The second pallet & the service is the reason they didn't get the other three stars. The top 25-30% of the pallet was broken pieces, none of which were bigger than a softball, mostly dirt and roots. The bottom 60-75% of the pallet were thin sections, mostly roots, with very little dirt and sparse grass blades. None of the pieces were a FULL piece and all were different sizes. It was like playing Tetris to put it down. They were all primarily brown with very little green in them and the pieces were all thrown haphazardly on the pallet, some hanging off the sides, overlapping, it was a hot mess to try to lay. It was like they raked up all the leftovers after cutting the first pallet & dumped it on the second one. To top that off it was full of little brown spiders, not just a couple, but hundreds of them once you got about 1/2 way through that second pallet. I called the Sod Lot and the person answering the phone told me that they only sell the pallets, that it isn't actually their product and they are not responsible for what is delivered. He told me to email pictures & my complaint to an email address he provided for the sales team. I have sent two emails & made several calls, no-one will respond. No communication back from the phone calls or the emails (which included pictures). They are nice here - Over the phone and in person. This place is also slightly cheaper than the other sod place not far down the street. Also, they loaded the sod for me. I was not use to that. The other place? Not so much. read more

13 skids of sod delivered. Attractive grass. According to the installer , half of 1 skid was unusable. They didn't finish 1 row on both sides of the front lawn. None of this was the sod companies fault or the installer. Its my problem. You want B.S. and lies, use these people; that's what I got. read more

The Sod lot is the only place I come to get great sod at wonderful prices. Everything is mostly in stock and if it's not the girl in the office Renee is always so helpful in getting it as quickly as possible.
