I've tried several of their Italian ice flavors and all of them pair perfectly with the vanilla soft serve. Their dirty sodas are delicious as well! The restaurant is conveniently located right off State Street. Inside is clean with fun, bright decor. Lots of seating. I have checked their menu online before so I had a general idea of what kind of goodies they had. I was excited that I finally get to check out the place I drive by all week. I came in late afternoon so it was pretty chill. The gal behind the counter was helping someone in the drive thru window which gave me a minute to look over the menu. I also got to check out the venue while I was waiting. The little shop is so cute! I adore all the Valentines decor everywhere. After scoping out the joint, I headed back to check out the menu again. Everything on the menu looked tasty. Some of the soda combinations looked really good but I didn't know if some of the syrups they had were sugar free. So after the gal was done, I was able to get a couple questions answered. The only sugar free syrup they had was vanilla. Such a bummer since they have so many other flavors to accommodate their drink list. Doesn't give sugar free drinkers many drink options. So, I ordered a custom dirty soda of diet Dr. Pepper with sugar free vanilla and cream. I also ordered a kid's size of chocolate and vanilla swirl custard too. I am in awww at how much custard you get in a kid's size! You are truly getting your money's worth. My drink was wrapped up and I grabbed my goodies and made my way into the side room to enjoy my goodies. I had to sit in the side room to eat my treat. It was fun sitting next to the colorful wall. Whoever painted it did such a great job! My custard swirl was so good! It was creamy. Chocolate and vanilla will always be a winning combination. I ate about half and really wanted to take the rest home but I wasn't going home anytime soon. Sucked I was getting rid of it. I did take a sip of my dirty soda on my way out of the door. I didn't really taste any flavoring in it. I thought maybe the sweetness of the custard was still present on my taste buds so I waited to take another drink. My drink was disappointing. You can taste the cream in it. I don't know if the soda syrup was out but the Dr. Pepper taste was very light. I didn't really taste any of the sugar free vanilla. I did finish the soda cause I didn't want to waste it but I'll just stick to the frozen treats the next time I'm in. Happy I got to stop in today. The custard was so good! I can't wait till it gets hotter and can come here with my husband. Their shakes sound great and my husband is a sucker for a good milkshake. I have a feeling he's going to love this place. I am looking forward having the churro dessert with the custard on top time. That combination just sounds fantastic and it will be a must have the next time I'm in.

But we've discovered that locals in Boise tend to overrate all of their eateries. And Reeds is no exception. Despite an average customer rating of 4.76 on all platforms, the ice cream isn't nearly as good as its competition on that list (for instance, Ehlers in Louisville some 1,900 miles away will simply blow your mind). Now don't get me wrong. The flavors are clever, the taste is delicious, and the butter pecan and maple are both very good. And I greatly respect a creamery that's bold enough to make the nearly-impossible-to-find licorice ice cream! But the product just doesn't strike you as a top 15 ice cream spot. I do love the cheeses and milk offered in the refrigerated section. And believe me, you'll enjoy Reeds. Just don't expect anything 10 levels above Baskin Robbins.

I was looking for milkshakes, but once I stepped in, ice cream was hard to resist. One of my favorite ice creams, since I was a kid, is Butter Pecan (aka Pralines and cream), but I rarely find it these days, and when I do, it's usually too sweet. Not this time! I was so excited they had it, and proceeded to try a sample of it, and it was absolutely perfect!! Rich, creamy, and perfectly sweet, with a touch of crunch. I also took home some Strawberry Cheesecake, which was also delectable. My husband's favorite ice cream is.....wait for it.....black licorice. Nobody carries this flavor....for years, he has gone without. I'm NOT a fan of black licorice, but I know some are, so I will tell you that Reed's does have it if you got a hankerin' for it, and according to my husband, it's really good, however, I cannot say, as I will not try it.
