A good old fashion ice cream parlor without the old fashion. I love the artisan ice cream concoctions and the fact that they use natural, locally sourced ingredients. Being able to take a pint home is really nice and the push pops for the kids is genius. I had the Police Academy which consisted of coffee flavored ice cream mixed with donuts and I ended up with more donut than ice cream and they were pretty stale tasting. Others in our party were much more satisfied with their choices and overall, this is a great place to grab some delicious ice cream. I especially liked that they offer cake cones and cookies for a base as the similar establishments where I live in Washington only offer waffle cones. They'll even turn your pick into a shake or an ice cream sandwich if you like. Vegan ice cream. Really. It is good? Hell yes it is good. I've been vegan for about six years. I've tried a lot of store bought vegan ice cream. The best until Stella's was the Ben and Jerry's with the sunflower butter. So creamy and delicious But Stella's blows the door off of Ben and Jerry's That Chocolate Oreo is pure nirvana. So damn good. Since I am vegan and I don't consume a lot of sugar and sweets, one scoop was enough to last me a month even though I probably wouldn't mind an IV drip if it was made available. Seriously. I know they're known for their other ice creams but that Chocolate Oreo was freaking amazing. Stella's has a location in Boise and one in Eagle. Check them out. I've visited this location a couple of times and they've never disappointed. Order Pictured: 1 Salted Caramel Brownie Sundae I'm partial to their brownie sundaes (pictured below), and while their brownies were a bit tough the ice cream helps to soften it up a bit and overall provides a cream experience. I'm usually not a huge fan of caramel ice creams as they tend to be a bit too powerful, but Stella's salted caramel ice cream does great at providing a balanced experience where the base cream can still shine. In addition, I've had their horchata ice cream in the past and it was one of the best desserts I've ever had, offering a really rich experience that is unparalleled by any other location in the area. Service is always great here, friendly younger staff. Ice creams is smooth and delicious. I live bringing the kids here. They also have push pops and some banked goods you can add ice cream to. There is the normal seating for an ice cream shop here. Pro tip, It can get busy after dinner time so be aware. It's just part of attending a well attended place for dessert. read more

Discovered this little gem and loved the level of service I received from the girl who helped us. She said she was celiac and gave all sorts of reassurances and even verified ingredients in the waffle cones that I was so excited to try! She went above and beyond! Today was our second visit there and thankfully the same girl was there and she started helping us. I was disappointed when this blond girl in a black shirt swooped in trying to dominate the helping situation. It made me uncomfortable for the girl who was helping us already. I really don't like writing bad reviews, being in the service industry myself and all. However after the experience the other night I was compelled to do so after my 7 year old daughter was crying because she couldn't have 2 flavors in a single size. There should be a kids size the mini is pathetic, samples are bigger and the single is more than enough ice cream for a child however you only get one flavor. So if a child wants two different flavors they have to get a double which is way too much ice cream for me even, let alone a child. Figure out another size or be able to have two flavors for a single like any other ice cream shop. The main complaint was the lack of consideration the staff had for the situation it's not that hard to put two different flavors in a single size. We were offered the idea to get two minis however it would end up costing more than a single and for much less ice cream, this was exactly what we were told by the girls working. read more

Customer good will can be lost and so it has been here for us after the "let's give them another chance" visit this week. This "retry" after a visit to pick up a pint - or two - a handful of months ago when we decided that although we had tried to support this local place since they opened we wouldn't go back. Here's why we felt that way then: ice cream flavors seemed indistinct one from the other, kids behind counter were friendly but always seemed too new to answer questions and also understaffed so even working as hard as they could had trouble with service (these are all management issues, btw, employees were trying). Adding in at that time a few months ago when the Central District Health pandemic mitigation rules, and Eagle is part of that District, required mask wearing inside stores the owners here didn't follow them. Whereas other businesses in this strip mall did, these owners thought customers should make their own decisions. That posture was, btw, consistent with the city of Eagle's mayor and counselors who issued public political statement calling CDH rules over reach. Yet Stella's location in Boise followed the rules because Boise's Mayor and government leadership made it clear they excepted businesses to follow them. We felt public health safety rules should be followed by all parties whether the local government "pooh-poohed" them or not and so...well 'tilt'...for us. We all vote our values with our feet and wallets as consumers. So when my husband received a Square "how did we do" inquiry from the business from our months ago visit and he answered he was disappointed to find CDH mask rules ignored he received a reply from the owner that outlined their position that people should make their own choices. So our choice was not to do business with those who didn't pitch in to follow Health District rules at the time. But new Easter flavors beckoned this week and when the deal was sweetened (no pun intended...well...maybe) with 15% off coupon by email in we went again. This time it really will be our last time. Here's why: whereas tables from opening day through the last few months were fewer to provide 'breathing room' inside, now tables have been added to have the sense of too many in the small space and the sense of 'sparkling spic and span' is gone too. The refrigeration unit where the tubs of ice cream are kept may have had temperature raised to make it easier for the staff (still too few in number as only one person was again hard at work on this sunny afternoon with several customers waiting) because our cone was near soft serve texture and the pint was bordering on soupy...for which the very nice staff person apologized as the carton was sealed with liquid running down sides. And high prices do not match the not as high quality product; after the 15% discount it was about $9.50 for a pint and a single scoop. We are consumers who have no problem with paying premium prices for premium product so it was not the price of the product but that the ice cream seemed to have a lot of air in it and was not the quality we remember enjoying at one time. Different strokes for different folks because we realize customers can enjoy different things. read more

On a very cold and snowy January night, I found myself at Stella's getting ice cream. It was cold. I was cold. It was creamy. I was happy. Full disclosure...I don't love ice cream. Usually I eat about half of what is on my cone, then scrape it off and just eat the cone. That being said, I liked Stella's ice cream. It was really creamy, but not so rich that I felt sick after a few bites. I had the cookie dough. I liked that the cookie dough pieces were still soft. I hate when the cookie dough gets hard and you break your teeth trying to bite through. My sister got the Cookies n Cream, which definitely tasted like the flavor, but was missing big chunks of cookies. The flavor actually intensified after you swallow. For me, the best thing about Stella's was the waffle cones. I really should just order a cone next time. They have all sorts of fun flavors. They had mint, strawberry, red velvet, and espresso. They were all really good, but my favorite was the strawberry. It was really packed with strawberry flavor and was the loveliest shade of pink! My sister got her ice cream on top of a brownie. It was HUGE and tasted pretty good, but was a real bummer to eat with her plastic spoon. The brownie was a bit tough, plus the coldness of the ice cream toughened it even further. The young lady who helped us was efficient and answered our questions, but was a bit on the grumpier side. Not sure she even smiled at us? Lastly, I would strongly suggest that they label their ice cream and add descriptions! My take on the Stella's Ice Cream in Eagle is similar but not quite as good as my take on the Stella's in Nampa. I wanted a brownie sundae, but deciphering the pricing wasn't easy. And the girl that was assisting us didn't really know either. There is a price for scoops and then a price for sundae and then a price for a brownie and a price for toppings (is that 1 or more or ... ?). So, adding it all up we figured $13.50. Yikes - I thought that was excessive for a 3-scoop sundae and asked the girl to double-check my math and she agreed. And I said it out loud "so, a 3-scoop sundae is $13.50??" And she said "YES, wellll, let me ask ... " and then came back with $6.50? Triple scoop plus a brownie and toppings? I don't even know .... but that's what we got. And I can live with that price. :) The brownie part was no bueno though. It tasted bitter, maybe even burnt (it was really dark)? And it was so hard. She even heated it to soften it while I was deciding on flavors. It didn't seem warm, and then when the ice cream went on top, there was no melting and softening of that brownie. It was hard, bitter, and not good. I couldn't even cut pieces off it with those flimsy spoons. I just ate the ice cream, and the brownie went to waste. For the size of the sundae, I felt the toppings (hot fudge and nuts) were a little skimpy. And like their Nampa location there are no names to go along with the flavors. They are up on the wall though, and if you want to try something (which I did), just ask. I tried the lemon something and it was not good at all ... which is why you try before you buy. :) The ice cream is hard, and you taste more ice than cream, it's just not very creamy and it stays hard way too long ... and my strawberry wasn't very strawberryeeee. All that being said, if I were in the area and wanted some ice cream, I'd give them another shot .... but maybe stick to ice cream on a cone. read more

My sister and I stopped by Stella's for desert and sister time. The inside has a modern minimalist vibe to it that I love. With one wall dedicated to what looks like their Instagram posts and customers, it was a cute addition to the simplicity of the place. Let's talk about their flavored waffle cones. Genius! That night they had mocha, mint chip, strawberry, and red velvet with samples of all. They were delicious and make a great addition to the ice cream. What I loved most was their baked goods. They were huge, delicious and CHEAP! I got a giant brownie to go with my ice cream and the brownie was only $1.50! Winner winner!!! The ice cream was creamy and had lots of favorites to choose from. I have a confession...I've been to Stella's three times in the past three weeks. The ice cream is so good that I just can't stay away. Every time I visit I am amazed by how rich and creamy their ice cream is. My absolute favorite flavor is the Salted Caramel - you have to try it! Stella's doesn't have the biggest selection of flavors, but everything I've tried has been great (and I sampled a lot of flavors during my first visit. The employees were very patient with me). There are a couple vegan/gluten free/dairy free options available as well, so there should be something for everyone. The flavor selections are a little different each day, so be sure to check the Stella's Facebook or Instagram story if you're curious about which flavors are available before you go in. And thankfully Stella's is still open for carryout and delivery despite COVID-19 because, clearly, I've been craving their ice cream a lot lately. read more

We went to Stella's for a birthday treat for my little sisters 10th birthday and it was great! The ice cream was creamy and so yummy! I got a brownie at the bottom of mine and it was amazing! They let us try a bunch of samples and the girls behind the counter were very sweet! I'd recommend looking at the menu before you arrive so you can have an idea of what your want! Stopped by today on a whim and glad I did. Upon entering you are pulled in by treats of cookies and brownies which were being cut as I entered. I decided on the Almond Roca ice cream. Caramel flavor from start to finish. Loved the plethora of almond and toffee bits distributed throughout the creamy base. It was delicious. Thank you to the friendly counter girls who greeted us and let me sample a couple flavors. I also appreciated that when I asked for a cone she mentioned to me that the ice cream was a little soft and recommended putting it in a cup as well. If I had one complaint it is that the flavors of the ice cream are not near the freezer case. Yes you can guess what they may be and they were helpful and told me but it would alleviate questions and maybe make the selection process go a little more quickly if it was busy. What a cute little ice cream shop!! I took my daughters in as a little treat, and we loved it! We were the only people there, which was nice for keeping our distance. It was right after opening and maybe 40* out, so I'm sure most people were looking for something warm. But, this was great. It smells like heavenly waffle cones when you step in. My girls kept going on about how yummy it smelled!! Ha! The youngest tried blue moon (blue raspberry) in a chocolate & sprinkle dipped cake cone, oldest had chocolate peanut butter in a chocolate & fruity pebble dipped cake cone, I tried a scoop of strawberry champagne in a cup. Oh stellas, another experience where you have not let me down. I wanted to give my friends hot cocoa bombs and they have stacks of containers of them! I got a 4 pack and a cake batter push pop!
