We are so incredibly happy with how our yard turned out, and I just have to say that The Sodzilla is absolutely amazing. This is a family owned business, and you can really tell how much they care about their customers. Jacob came out to measure back on June 13th, and he was the one who came back later to spray the weeds and grass. He is honestly such a great guy, super helpful, and just a total pleasure to work with. I wasn't really sure what the next steps were, so I reached out to Albert, and he let me know they would install the sod in about one to two weeks. The timeline did end up being longer than that, and we didn't hear back for a few days over a holiday weekend, but we completely understand that they needed a well deserved break. I did have to be the one to reach out each time to get updates, but Albert always made sure to get back to me and answer all my questions. Looking at their reviews, these guys are crazy busy and doing a yard every single day, so you just have to be patient, because they are so worth the wait. Today was the big day, and the crew arrived to install our new Pro Vista sod. It actually started pouring rain right when they got here, but instead of leaving or rushing through the job, they just waited it out. As soon as the rain passed, they jumped right to work and finished my entire yard in about two to three hours, which was so impressive. Albert's dad was there too, and he is seriously so sweet and an absolute joy to work with. Also, we recently had new driveway pavers put in, and the crew actually told my husband they wanted to be extra careful not to damage them, which we appreciated so much. They were so respectful and kept all of their heavy machinery completely off the pavers the entire time. I uploaded a video of the final lawn to Google Maps because you can see just how incredibly clean and tight they cut the seams right up against our new pavers. Their attention to detail is unmatched! We had put this project off for years because other things always came up, so having a beautiful yard has been a dream of mine for a very long time. We still have a lot more improvements to do to our house, but we are just so happy with how everything is going and so glad to finally have great grass. To show just how amazing the transformation is, I uploaded photos of their entire process: our patchy starting point, the yard after they did the prep work and sprayed the weeds, and the final lush, green result. It might sound a little cheesy, but they really made that dream come true. The Pro Vista looks beautiful already, and Albert already emailed us the watering instructions, plus they are coming back tomorrow to roll it. I will do a follow up in a month to let you know how the grass does. I cannot express how happy I am with this whole team. I do not like leaving negative reviews, but I feel it is necessary because of the poor follow-up customer service. To be fair, my initial experience was positive--the pricing was reasonable, and everyone I worked with was friendly. When the sod was installed in mid-February, it was frost-damaged, but that was not a major issue because it greened up with watering and warmer weather. The bigger problem was that many pieces had little or no soil underneath, which left the lawn uneven even after it was rolled. The lawn is still very uneven and feels like going off road when mowing. Some overlapping sections never rooted, and other pieces without proper backing were either pulled up by the mower, lifted easily by hand, or eventually died. After I contacted them, Jake came out in late March, inspected the lawn, and said they would replace the damaged pieces. When I had not heard back after more than three weeks, I followed up in late April, and Albert said he would get me scheduled. At that point, it felt like I was no longer a priority once the sod had been installed and paid for. We agreed on a date and time in early May, but on the scheduled day I received a text saying they would come the following day because the sod order had not been placed. I waited for them on Saturday, but they never arrived and did not call with an explanation. I sent a text asking why and received no response. The following Monday, I called and spoke with Jake, who said he was unaware of the schedule but would have Albert call me. Two days passed without a call, so I texted again and even offered to lay the sod myself if they would drop it off. By the next day, I still had not received any communication. A simple call or text to let me know I wasn't forgotten would have been enough. Instead, it seems I will have to buy replacement sod elsewhere and install it myself. read more

I purchased 4 pallets (1,600 SF) of sod from Sodzilla, but after installation, I measured only about 1,386 SF was placed -- a shortfall of 214 SF. I wasn't present during installation, yet I was later accused of being rude to their team, including an interaction that never occurred. I was told the missing sod would be provided, then later refused and told to contact their attorney. Even after I offered to install the shortfall myself, they repeatedly shifted their stance. Customer service was confrontational, and commitments were changed after payment. Very disappointed with how this was handled over something that should have been a simple correction. I would not recommend this business to others. read more

We had a terrible experience with this incredibly dishonest company. Albert has a great website and talks the talk. When he gave us the initial estimate for sod I explained we also needed some roots removed and the easement needed to be leveled with good top soil. He insisted he has the best product in town and guarantees what he sells. The morning of the install he was on time, no issues until the pallet arrived. I was absolutely sick to see the sod he brought. When I told him it looked like crap he became upset. How would I dare to question him? He said that it always looks like that this time of year. He told me that I could "green it up" with time. I wasn't buying sod I needed to green up. His social media paints a very different picture of what kind of product he actual brings. In our estimate we were quoted for 2 pallets of sod. He brought a pallet and a half of very sick looking grass. When I asked where the rest of the pallet was he became angry and said "fine you want the rest of your sod, I'll give you the rest of your sod. Where do you want it!? Tell me where you want the rest of your pallet." So they off loaded my remaining pallet before coming to my job? I don't think so. This was left over garbage sod from another job and it was my job to "green it up" and charge me for it. He then said the estimate was not correct and that he was "quoting me for the job" not the items on the quote?? Make that make sense. WHY give a legal, signed written estimate if you have no intention of honoring it. I had to babysit them the entire day as they failed to remove the roots and tried to cover it with soil. When asked if they could please remove the roots as discussed they did, but had no intention to if I had not said something. They failed to level it properly and the amount of top soil I was charged for verses what they brought was pathetic. It was done so poorly I actually don't think it was intentional I honestly think they are the least skilled company in the Tampa Bay area. If they can't get a 500 sq ft easement right lord help a larger job. They cracked my curb, which is amazing because we had zero issues with the other contractors damaging the curb. The cut out around the water meter and trees are about as unprofessional as it comes. I emailed and called to resolve the leveling issue. Our pest control guy said the grass had a fungus but he would try to recover it. Once he had our money he was gone. He dodged calls and wouldn't respond to texts. His excuse was he didn't like that I was upset. I think it's because he can't be questioned and especially not by a female. If you hire him you have ZERO chance of any follow up. He said he regretted taking the job. Trust me, I have to live with the MESS he made and fix it ourselves so the regret is all mine. We spent $10,000.00 dollars this march for all new sod to get ride of the weeds and have a nice lawn. We were told it was quarantined and all we had to do was use them and eagle pest control. We are not even at 9 months later and have 50% of the whole back yard in strait weeds again. They don't guarantee anything and never properly killed the sod to begin with. read more
