Our cottage had a very nice porch that we spent a good portion of the weekend relaxing on. The cottage also had a nice fireplace we took advantage of. Each stay, they cook one dinner for guests. That meal also stood out to us as special. It held its own against many of the fine dining restaurants in Chicago. Place your dirty dishes and tray in the same spot and they disappear again. It was amazingly refreshing to not have to deal with other humans. Magical Want a gift from the general store? Thanks to an assist from Bill Griffen from Boyd Gaming/Grand Harbor, the hotel switch was made. However, we will be traveling with good friends and they were having difficulty making a reservation. Nothing is simple! Needless to say, this became complicated, but Antoine completely understood the situation, booked all of our rooms with very good rates and I'm so happy he answered my call! Instead we chanced it and my 6 year old ended up with crazy hives on our last day, after 2 days of waterpark. Doctor confirmed it folliculitis from the waterpark and said she also treated another kid from the same one some time ago. The TVs were straight out of the 90's no ability to stream as even cheap hotels do now. You had to wait 30 minutes to go up or down on the elevator. The continental breakfast was an absolute joke with a line that was an hour long. Literally worst waterpark hotel I have ever been to. Stay away!

The floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The shower curtain made the entire bathroom stink like mildew. One of the washcloths was visibly dirty. I didn't even want to step on the floor. I did complain and they offered nothing and I'm a rewards member, sooooo...skip this gross hotel!

This is all made possible by two amazing inn keepers in Jim and John. They are funny, creative, awesome people whose number one goal is to make your stay incredible. I was going to give this a 4-star but the late check-in was my fault. I was supposed to show up at…read morenoon, then a workshop got cancelled so we show up at 1:30pm and by then the hosts were gone to their dentist appt. I didn't realize they would be waiting for us and do not necessarily have staff there all day. At first, the phone call was rude and communication of updates was absent. They didn't get back to me until about 4:30. But because they were accommodating to change time to allow one family guest to attend a workshop,... and the male host was apologetic for not being able to be there... and he offered evening water refreshments,... and the breakfast was very good... I feel this actually deserve a five-star. The house is so antiquated, I love that. The smell, though, not so much. It seemed to smell of cigarette but didn't see anyone smoking. I love that our room was a family suite with private door. No bathroom so I had to walk across hall in towels only to be seen by another guest coming out of different room. It's okay because it's a home with history. I hope they continue to do business.
