From the Aldrich Plaza, you will find yourself slipping and sliding towards this ice cream shop…read morewith a lot to offer. Brand: 5/5 Shivers Ice Cream is a family-owned restaurant in operation for 30 years, according to the website. I do like the penguin mascot which perfectly represents the establishment. The slogan "Ice Cream, Cakes, and Fun!" manages to evoke a festive environment that Shivers promises. The shorter the syntax, the more evocative and straight-forward; as any English major would know. I do not know if the canvases of solid colors are meant to represent abstract art, but I can see how it does not conflict with the interior. It does not contrast strongly with the light-colored floor tiles or the walls, but it does not complement them either. The rows of ice cream containers with many flavors entices anyone who looks upon them from behind the glass counter. Website: 3/5 The design of the website looks to have an outdated theme. Also, while it does offer a view of the various cakes with unique designs, it does not have a section dedicated to flavors, despite claiming to offer 30 distinct flavors. Nonetheless, I appreciate the cool blue color that serves as the thematic color of Shivers Ice Cream. Ambiance: 5/5 As expected, the interior felt cold, but not too cold that I wanted to leave immediately. The pop music playing over the radio gave the Shivers Ice Cream establishment a pleasant yet upbeat vibe. While it is a small establishment, it did suit us enough, with its tables having the appropriate width and the chairs not having an uncomfortable feel. Service: 5/5 The staff provided decent service. There is a tip jar for college funds, and I appreciate the transparency of where the money goes. Wait Time: 5/5 Our orders came immediately. Food: 5/5 I ordered the small Snix milkshake. As you can expect, it blends milk, ice cream, and Snickers bits into a milkshake. I can definitely taste the chocolate, caramel, and peanuts that typically come with Snickers. The shake had a well-blended consistency of well-preserved ice cream, which melted easily with every sip. It achieves that creamy texture especially at the top. Worth The Money?: 4/5 While the website does offer a view of the products they have, I would like to see what flavors they can showcase on their website. For an ice cream shop with so much personality, I do not even know what their signature dish is. Perhaps it could be in the form of a new flavor, a milkshake, or an ice cream cookie. The penguin mascot reflects off the chilliness of the establishment and the menu items. I am sure that Coldrich the Penguin (as I would call him as a portmanteau of "cold" and "Aldrich [Plaza]") has a future with this establishment. I would say that I did not waste my time coming here. The price for a small milkshake would have been the same at Dairy Queen, but considering this is a local establishment, I will say that the price is ultimately worth it, though as a second choice (indeed, I would choose Shivers as a first choice if I ever come to Aldrich Plaza again if it is the only ice cream shop there). Rating: 5/5 Stars When it comes to choosing between 4 or 5 stars, I see too much potential in this ice cream shop to give it 4 stars. Recommend To... Anyone who already had something to eat for lunch or dinner in the other local eateries in Aldrich Plaza and want dessert. I also recommend Shivers Ice Cream for the summer for a birthday celebration.

We ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo, a truffle grilled cheese, a blackened salmon sandwich and an eggplant Parmesan on a bed of pasta. We heard their pizza is good, but we weren't in the mood for pizza. The fettuccine was nice as was the truffle grilled cheese. I was told the blackened salmon was missing that little bit of spice usually found with a blackened dish. The eggplant Parmesan contained ricotta cheese between the slices which we were okay with, but the eggplant breading was a little overdone. For us, this place seems hit or miss and we're thinking we should have tried the pizza since that was a more popular dish. Maybe we'll get back there to try the pizza.

If you're going for kosher dairy food in Lakewood, this place is probably one of two good places in…read morethe area. Difference here is that these guys know dough and pizza, which means their pizzas (and dessert calzones) will be great. We went on a busy weekend and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. Pizzas were great, and some very funky. There's one with onion rings and bbq sauce, another with mini mozzarella sticks (which is basically just cheese on cheese), and more with roasted cauliflower or broccoli under some more cheese. My advice here is really to try and stick with the stuff with tomato sauce. Would be nice if they incorporated arugula or truffle like some of the more modern NYC Italian restaurants do. Appetizers is where it's at. We didn't try fries, but we did try the tuna tostadas (fish seemed pretty fresh and it was kind of like a crunchy rice), and the nachos (really good and cheesy). This place probably ain't a great idea if you're lactose intolerant. For dessert you definitely want to try the nutella/oreo calzone. Save room. Some minor issues I had was that the service was pretty lacking. Waiters didn't care to properly serve customers and seemed to have an impatient attitude. People that came to bring extra utensils didn't take back our dirty dishes, and for the second half of the meal our table was full of dirty plates. Also the bathroom was used as storage for other stuff, was not clean, and the camera to flush the toilet didn't work. They should put some more money into the staff, clean bathrooms a bit better, and maybe install camera systems for better management. Just my two cents.

I like that there is a drive through so I can still stay in the AC of my car and order just as I would if I were inside the shop. Cherry Ice or lemon are my go too when watermelon is not available. Staff is always friendly and prices are okay for my budget, I don't come here everyday but a few times a month and I am never disappointed. I am also happy they are just down the street from my house. I will say that parents need to keep their kids from walking and jumping off the tables, it really isn't a playground and no one wants to sit at a table where kids are running around like that- but.... that's why I also do the drive through.

Went back in and the cashier said they didn't have forks which I thought was odd for a place that sells food items. There was a Chinese restaurant next door so I thought maybe I could get a fork from there, then saw they had a sign saying utensils were for customers only (understandable). But that makes me think that multiple people have asked for utensils from NBC and went nextdoor like I did when they weren't provided. I saw there was a dollar store on the other side of the plaza and ended up getting a pack of 60 forks from there for $1.33. That's obviously really cheap so that's not my issue, I just find it odd that an establishment would sell food without providing utensils to eat with, especially if it's requested commonly. (The Chinese restaurant probably spent more printing that sign than NBC could have buying 100 forks to keep on hand. Comical!)

I have been wanting to come to this restaurant ever since it had no reviews on Yelp. Brand: 5/5 Tuscany Cafe and Pizzeria is a kosher Italian restaurant located in Wine on 9 Plaza in Howell Township just nearby Lakewood Township. The physical sign definitely brings the restaurant to another level, with its curly ends and its inspiration from the Jazz Age. The overall brand, from the sign to the light shades manage to give this restaurant a unique brand that combines kosher and Italian cuisines. Website: 4/5 It uses the Menu World theme, which is a simple theme that can help you if you need just the navigation. In the case of Tuscany Cafe and Pizzeria, it brings you to an opening image of a plate of their menu item. I did think that it had an underwhelming quality to it compared to the restaurant itself. The font of the restaurant does not reflect the physical, outdoor sign which I found more fitting. Also, most of the menu items did not have their own images. Wait Time: 5/5 I did not experience any issues or delays while awaiting my order. Ambiance: 5/5 I did like the classy look that the ambiance brings, with the lights having a knotted shade and the numerous mirrors. The dark walls and interior complement the light well. You will also hear Israeli music playing at a soft volume. The cushioned seats had comfort while the tables had a large enough space. I could also see that Tuscany Cafe and Pizzeria has a family-friendly ambiance, with the increased presence of families coming to this place in the middle of the day. The unique food selection has a combination of Kosher and Italian cuisine, from paninis to salads to falafel. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Yerushalmi Panini on sourdough bread, which consisted of pizza sauce, mushrooms, tomato, mozzarella cheese, and red onion. I never would have thought that the taste of Jerusalem encapsulates within pizza flavors, with the pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese giving it a pizza taste. The mushrooms, while not prominently flavored, give this panini a robust taste. The well-toasted sourdough bread gives it this panini a form not so easily disintegrated. Along with the bread, every part of the panini had a well-cooked texture. Service: 5/5 I could tell that the owner had a jovial disposition. No issues occurred while ordering. He will announce you name clearly when your order is ready. Cost: 3/5 Tuscany Cafe and Pizzeria offers a hybrid cuisine that manages to reflect its brand well. The Yerushalmi Panini manages to bring together two societies together in a zesty taste. While the food accurately reflected the website, the limitation of the latter made me assume what the food would look like. The website does describe the service accurately as attentive, for they ensure you the preparation of your order. The wait time slightly matched the quality of the time it took to cook the panini, though I did think that the bread had a little bit of toast but not enough to have sturdiness. The ambiance fitted the dining experience. When it comes to first impressions, I will say that the ambiance did more beyond the dining experience, for it managed to fit the hybrid identity. It lives up to its website description of a cozy ambiance. It is also reflected on their website, for the wooden background gives it a cozy look. The atmosphere while waiting for my order did not try my patience. Would I say that the cost was ultimately worth it? Not really. Taking all of this into account, I see how the food tasted well and the ambiance fitted, but I cannot say I would drive there all the time. Rating: 5/5 Stars I will say that I have hope for Tuscany Cafe and Pizzeria, since it manages to occupy a unique niche in Howell Township. Recommend To... Any families who want to visit an Italian pizzeria with a unique twist.
