This was such a great first facial experience for me! Amber told me what she was doing every step of the way. The whole thing was so relaxing; I could have easily passed out but I wasn't sure if that was frowned upon. Amber told me later that it happens a lot :D I've done a fair amount of my own research about certain ingredients. I'm not an idiot. I understand that she wants to sell products and I thought she did a nice job explaining the importance of a skincare regimen without seeming condescending or too pushy. I bought the sample sizes of the products she recommended and they're REALLY nice so she obviously knows what she's talking about. In addition to knowing that I was in capable hands, Amber is such a sweet person. She is really genuine and easy to talk to. Her Groupon deal is an absolute steal but I'll be back again for a full price service when she re-opens. I CAN'T WAIT. Sometimes I forget how beneficial a facial is to my complex oily-dry skin. When I first found Amber, I didn't hesitate to book her based on the amazing reviews she has, and I was not disappointed. It was early October and I was having some breakouts a bit more than usual, figured it was stress or hormones, maybe both. I was unsure what appointment to book as I don't treat myself to facials as often as I should, so I messaged Amber and got a response back immediately. She gave me a suggestion based on my skin type and I booked for an appointment that coming Saturday. When I walked into her room, she greeted me with a smile, and, a glass of wine! It was a delicious red blend, apothic maybe, and set me in such a relaxing mood while I filled out the new patient papers. Once we began the treatment, Amber did an amazing job at making sure I felt comfortable, and had a good understanding of what it was she was treating at that time. I'm a bit more curious than some, so asked questions, which she skillfully answered. After the treatment my skin felt so fresh and amazing, I was very impressed at what she was able to do. Also, I purchased a few of the products she offers, and I swear the Seaweed Oil I use is a godsend, and I don't know how I ever survived without it! My most recent visit to Amber was to focus on dry skin that the Chicago winter had caused on my face. As a Florida native, my body just will never get used to the cold weather. She was able to personalize her winter facial special to my skin type, and I left once again feeling even more hydrated and beautiful than before. Sadly, I have since relocated to Denver and can't visit Amber as frequently as I would like. But she is an absolute pleasure to meet in person and I would definitely try to come back next time I am visiting in Chicago. read more

Back in my youth I was a sun worshiper and did not heed the warnings about sunscreen. I had to be brown, dammit! But then in my late 40's I realized I hadn't done myself any favors by being tanned all the time. I had fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes (also probably from rubbing my eyes so much when I had allergies), dark spots on my cheeks and nose, huge pores, and sagging skin on my neck. So, even though mentally I feel like I'm 20, my skin was telling quite a different story. So I began educating myself on anti-aging skin care products and regimens, and embarked on a regular schedule of skin therapy sessions at salons like Aveda and Ulta. I've been a client of Amber's for a couple of years now, first when she used to work at Ulta, and now that she's the owner of The Spa Room. If I didn't like her I would not have followed her to her new place (though, I must be honest, I still get skin therapy at Ulta, but theirs is very different from hers). I subscribe to lots of "beauty boxes" and I collect tons of makeup and skincare products and samples. I love to discuss my new products with Amber. She's such a great listener. She knows what I like and what I don't like. Ugh ... anything that smells herbal (read: grassy) is a freakin' Hell No! But despite having all these great products to use at home I still love visiting with Amber and being pampered the way only she knows how. I can't do at home what she does for me in her salon. It's just too good. I always leave feeling pampered and rejuvenated. I've definitely seen an improvement in the hyperpigmentation on my face. My skin is always so soft and hydrated when I leave the salon. I'm managing very well to keep the wrinkles and fine lines to a minimum. There is no pressure to purchase any products which is great because I'll never run out of high-end skin care products (you should see my linen closet ... LOL!) Amber will listen to your concerns, recommend treatments, and educate you on the types of products/ingredients you should or should not be using on your skin. Go see Amber. Trust me. Amber is amazing. She really knows how to read your skin and give you a very informative consultation and direct you to what your skin needs to be healthy and glowing. Amber is friendly, however, the facial itself was meh. I felt like she was too busy explaining her products to me instead of focusing on setting a relaxing environment. The massage was the weakest I have ever had even after asking for lots of pressure. At the end, instead of letting me change and then discussing products, she turned the light on and talked to me about the products while I was still in my towel. I recently had a 90-minute European facial with Amber and had a great experience. Her space was very comfortable, and the entire facial was excellent from start-to-finish. I am expecting and recently had a horrible breakout on my forehead presumably due to hormones - well, Amber zapped away at my acne and now 3 days later, they are almost gone! She also suggested a new skincare routine which (fingers crossed) has been working for me so far. While she did recommend a bunch of products, she was very understand when I explained that I like to keep things simple and suggested at-home and over-the-counter products in addition to her fancy line.
