Wow. Just wow. This place is incredible. Not only is it super cute and bright, and the staff friendly, but the food was just next level. That Ocean Roll was without a doubt the best pastry I have ever had. And I've eaten a lot of pastries. It really does remind you of the ocean. Like sweet seawater glazed over the most delicious roll you ever had, a gift from the gods. I cannot speak highly enough of it. Chicken salad croissant sandwich and the bacon and egg breakfast sandwich also delicious. The chai latte were perfect as well. Couldn't have asked for anything better. 12/10 read more

This place is my new go-to when I'm in town. I've heard so many good things about this place and I can finally say yes, those rumors are true! REALLY aesthetic, lots of natural light. Their options all sound tasty and they really are! 2nd time here was after the COVID outbreak. It's good to know they have strict safety guidelines in place. They even offer a small discount for wearing your face mask to help enforce public health and safety. Their lox and bacon breakfast sandwich never disappoints! Definitely recommend. Our favorite place in Bend! We live down the hill from Bend but when we come to Bend this is the first place we hit. Dog friendly, delicious food and coffees! Take some home with you, I find it freezes well for later. It's very friendly and busy, plan to wait in line for a bit but they're Very efficient here at Sparrow and they'll get you through quickly. I've learned since my last review that this is unfortunately the only location in Bend. The original location is closed. I still love the Ocean Roll, but will continue to get it at coffee shops as the new location's service is just not friendly or welcoming, as well as favorite treats running out quickly/early in the day. read more

Huge huge fan. Can't get enough of Sparrow Bakery. My husband & go here at least once a month. I always buy a sourdough loaf to-go, a London fog, avocado toast and a cookie. I just can't get enough of their pastries. They are known for their Ocean Roll. It is very lightly sweetened with a bit of cardamom. So unique and addictive. It is not for people that expect to have a really sweet dessert. It's large enough to share. I took a bite of the Bacon Breakfast Sandwich and the textures have a great balance. The highlight of this sandwich is the smokiness & cooked to perfection: bacon. You never know what time to go here cause it is always packed. Wether it be in the summer on a Saturday morning during Farmers Market with the line all the way down the street or winter and the line is just out the door, it is worth the wait. read more

Every time I have a seasonal tart from sparrow I swear to god I am reborn. I remember it like it was yesterday even though it was around Christmas in 2023. A beautiful pomegranate buttercream tart was on their seasonal menu that year. All I can say about the tart is it was truly life changing. The creamy buttercream and the tart crunch of the pomegranates was unlike anything I could've expected. Still one of the best tarts I've ever had. Until yesterday when I stop in to see seasonal passion fruit and marshmallow meringue tart on their seasonal menu. And wow she really was a moment. Once again the tartness of the passion mixed with the sweet fluff of marshmallow was unreal. Also what both have in common is their gorgeous presentations. Ordered the bacon breakfast sandwich. Was hesitant to go here cause it's not in the main part of town and the sandwich is $13. I was extremely glad I ended up going, the area is very new and nice. The shop is huge inside with tall ceilings and lots of seating. Great place to hang out for a while. The sandwich itself was amazing. Hard to justify $13 but it was definitely high class. Tons of thick bacon that was super good. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had in addition to some really amazing bacon. Worth a stop for sure. Tried going to the other location only to find it closed. Ended up waiting ~15 minutes in line for this location though it moved fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the breakfast items I was interested in ordering were out. The cinnamon smell was so phenomenal when I walked inside I ordered a cinnamon roll instead which was actually a croissant and didn't have any frosting (which worked because it was already so light and flavorful). My partner got the Ocean Roll (upon a recommendation from a friend) and loved the really strong cardamom flavor. It took about 20 minutes after ordering to get the bacon breakfast sandwich which was enjoyable though quite rich and unevenly spread across the big croissant. read more

Given how long the line was, we thought we were in for a real treat. We waited patiently outside, the line moving surprisingly quick for the length. The gal that rang us up wasn't overly friendly, we sort of felt like we were inconveniencing her with our order. I got a vanilla bean latte and my husband got a shot of espresso with a dash of milk. His was good, mine was very okay. I could see the vanilla beans so I know they were in there but there wasn't a trace of vanilla taste. It almost tasted the something got burnt. The ocean roll was interesting. I liked the idea of the pepper but it didn't seem executed very well. The flavors didn't mesh quite like they should've. I will say it was very moist and sweet, it tasted incredibly fresh. We shared the croque monsieur which was very underwhelming. I don't know if the béchamel was in contact with the bread for too long but it made it very soggy so there was no texture to it. The cheese on top also seemed to contribute to this problem, making it more of a mushy mess than a brunch treat. The stone ground mustard was hardly noticeable, it would've been nice if there was more because it could've cut through all the creamy flavors. Instead everything melded together and nothing really stood out. We also got a baguette that both of us thought was stale. I appreciate a yeasty flavor but when it comes to baguettes, I definitely value a sour flavor over yeast and this one was very yeasty. Unfortunately we didn't think this place lived up to the hype. Everyone talks about their Ocean Rolls, which were honestly mediocre in my opinion. I think people rave about them because those people don't typically use cardamom in their cooking. What SHOULD be raved about is their delicious and well made coffee! Food is good, portions are huge, and the coffee is perfectly brewed. + for the good service. The staff helped my BIL find his lost sunglasses and they were super patient. - ambiance. It was crowded and the cafe was basically just an open room with mostly white walls. Clean, but echoey. I would've preferred sitting on their patio, which looked really cute, except it was 20 degrees outside and no heaters that I could see. read more

I'm gonna add my two cents. My friend and I stopped in yesterday and had a great experience. The servers were on point, professional and courteous. We only had to wait a few minutes while the couple in front of us fussed around about their order. I ordered their delicious fruit cake roll and a mimosa, she ordered a chocolate croissant and latte. I loved my cake and the mimosa was just fine. She quite enjoyed her croissant and said she thought the latte was quite good, despite what she'd read about from other yelpers. Bonus points to them for hiring local high school students, one of whom was working her fanny off washing the windows inside and out after a nasty bout of snow and ice. Should have taken pics but we were having too good of a time and forgot. We'll both return. read more

The Ocean Roll from The Sparrow Bakery was recommended to me by friends multiple times so I had to stop in and try one. It was delicious and to my surprise, has cardamom in it which is one of my favorites. It honestly didn't look like much but the flavor was so good. I made sure to get a good look at all of the other food that was coming out of the kitchen and it all looked great. I usually would never spend money on simple breakfast items like avocado toast but I definitely would try it here, it looked that good. The French fries looked homemade and I would have tried more items but I was stuffed. I will make sure to come back to The Sparrow Bakery with a bigger appetite the next time I am in Bend. I will say that the house coffee, in my opinion, wasn't that great. read more

Sparrow was hit or miss for my husband & I, but mostly a hit overall & we are looking forward to our next visit. We were staying in the area and went there a few times over the week. We had everything on a to go basis because they had no indoor seating at the time & it was a little too cold for outdoor eating at the time. Our favorite item hands down was the breakfast sandwich with bacon. It had amazing flavor. The bacon tasted sweet like it was candied or something & the spread they used on it was soooo tasty. The croissant & poached egg were perfect. We would likely get this every time we go in the future. Too bad we inly had it on our final visit. another day we tried the Monte Cristo and both thought it was just ok. It was a less traditional version of one & neither of us enjoyed the smokey flavor of the ham. It kind of threw the whole thing off for us. The choclatine croissant, I think that's what they called it, was very good & we liked that there were bits of chocolate throughout rather than the traditional lump of chocolate in the bottom. The cinnamon sugar croissant was so good that my husband nearly ate the whole thing without saving me a bite. Another standout was the decorated iced shortbread cookies. They were perfection & honestly it is a good thing we don't live here for me. The lox bagel was decent, with the lox being fresh, the bagel being a pretty good bagel & the pickled onions being an interesting and unexpected twist. The menu only says red onions which I would normally pick off. In this case I rather enjoyed them. However, it could use more cream cheese & just didn't hit the spot the way these do in the big apple. It was well crafter, just not what I had hoped it would be & for me, missed the mark. Counter servers here were always helpful and pleasant. We never felt rushed to make a choice. Lastly, we would have likely gotten coffees too if they had had sugar-free syrups. That probably sounds silly in a bakery, but one has to save calories where they can & we are just very used to sugar-free in our coffees at this point. See you again soon I hope Sparrow! read more

I absolutely love this place. We stopped here last year and I couldn't wait yo come back. We are passing through again and had to have lunch. Pricey but excellent products. We had the Croque Monsieur sandwich. Ham, stone ground mustard, shallot infused bechamel, brioche bread with gruyere cheese melted over it. We also shared a chocolate chip cookie which was very tasty. We bought almond croissants to take home and a fresh Jewish rye bread loaf. I loved my cappuccino. Sat outside at a nice table.
