We were welcomed by a customer when we entered. Very friendly place. We walked past the bar and a hostess promptly seated us at a booth. We ordered water. For breakfast my friend ordered the Hungryman, I ordered the Traditional breakfast. We barely had to wait 5 minutes before our meals came out. Our waitress was very attentive. She encouraged us to enjoy our meal and take our time. You could hear perfectly there, low background noise. I want to return to try the prime rib and eggs!! read more

Came here to eat as a work function and wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Staff wasn't the friendliest and I get it, we were 15 deep, and some folks kept staggering in. Wouldn't let us order until everyone was there, and that made a pregnant lady very unhappy. I ordered the pancake breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. When she brought out the food, she started auctioning off plates. Unsure of who ordered what, who got what sides, and it was a mess. Not sure if I got the right sides, but mine ended up coming with hashbrowns too. The pancakes were delicious. Reminded me of Cracker Barrel pancakes. If it came with warm syrup, it would have been a game changer. The eggs were fine, the hashbrowns okay, but the bacon was cooked perfectly. My entire meal, was $10. Absolute mountain of food for $10. I honestly can't believe the price. I'd consider this a hidden gem, and a nice place to eat if you bring a small group. read more

They advertised the special of brats and sauerkraut on Omaha Eats and I knew I had to bring. He also tried a small cup of vegetable beef soup. It was a full plate of food! The potatoes looked wonderful. He took home over half but the soup was hearty. I had the turkey bacon Swiss on ciabatta. The spinach instead of lettuce was a delicious bonus. The fries were superb and reminded me of the old Woolworths cafe. Service from Jen was prompt and pleasant. She rattled off the different soups of the day they offer without a breath. We didn't have a muffin but they looked delicious! It's so nice to have a down home old fashioned cafe. read more

My family went here for lunch one day because I kept hearing how good the food was. I went with some type of grilled chicken and bacon sandwich on ciabatta bread with sweet potato fries. I heard this restaurant had huge portions, but I didn't really think that much about it. Good gosh, I ended up having three meals out of one order. I went with their well-known chicken fried steak, hashbrowns, and two eggs over medium. Not only was the hashbrowns and eggs plenty enough, but the chicken fried steak was large too. The meat was well breaded, and the gravy topped it off perfectly. This place did not disappoint, and I can see why it has such good reviews. I can't wait to bring my family here next time. read more

I had to try The Special after hearing people rave about the food and the portions for the price! This place is a well oiled machine for sure. The amount of people willing to wait is a testament to how delicious it is! I ordered a skillet and it fed me and my husband for two days! Worth the drive to Bellevue. Also just get hollandaise on the side because you deserve it! read more

A nostalgic old school greasy spoon that delivered. Ornate oak decor, brown carpet, no windows and several waitresses moving nonstop serving up coffee, eggs and a mountain of a hot beef sandwiches. We enjoyed menu items of breakfast and lunch that we ordered from printed out staples menus (bring your bifocals, folks). The portions are very large but don't compromise integrity. The Frisco omelette was fluffy stuffed with large broccoli and an unbreakable sauce. Always go with the side of pancakes. Make sure you have your napkins ready for the well prepared Reuben. Went to lunch with a colleague after hearing they had great sandwiches and breakfasts. I tried their special, a bacon and egg cheese burger. This was fantastic! Bun: soft, almost Krispy Kreme donut consistency without being sweet, sturdy, well proportioned brioche. Perfection! This was a nice surprise! The table next to is ordered the 4pc fried chicken. They were HUGE pieces and they looked delicious! You get your choice of 2 sides. I ordered the chicken, a salad with house dressing and the chicken noodle soup. I was feeling an little sick so the soup helped me feel better. It also helped that this soup was made with homemade noodles and fresh ingredients. One of the best chicken noodle soups I've had! The people next to me recommended that we try the house dressing. They gave me a sample. HOLY CHICKEN!!! This is a sweet vinaigrette dressing. We ended up buying 3 jars of the salad dressing! It is the beast I've had! The ranch is homemade is just as good and tastes just like the Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch! The chicken was out of this world! The breading on the chicken was super crispy and not too greasy. It was seasoned just right and the chicken was moist inside. One of the best chicken I've had! This is really a Special Restaurant! We came back on the weekend for breakfast. Family cafe dining at its most basic and so good! We've never had bad service or bad food. There is sooo much food for the price that we always have leftovers. The regular menu is great but make sure to check out the specials board when you walk in. The best choices for the day are almost always found there. read more

Absolutely love the mid-western hometown service and atmosphere. FB or Yelp is the best place to find info, but FB not always updated regularly. The menu is extensive with comfort food that is delicious and served hot. The Special Restaurant usually has daily and weekly specials, but it is hard to find what they are prior to arrival. Selection of homemade pies, muffins, and sweets worth the look. Occasionally has authentic style German dishes which are on point. read more

Come Hungry! You will get plenty of food that is really delicious, homemade quality. I've tried almost everything on the menu. One of my favorites is the Artichoke Omelette. It has a lot of artichoke, feta cheese and three eggs. I love this menu item. I order it often. But I also like so many of their other menu options too! You can't go wrong here. I only wish I could come here for dinner too! Great food, great service and reasonable prices. read more

Stopped in for lunch and totally forgot they do breakfast all day. Decided on the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. The service was quick and the price to food ratio; amazing. The hash browns were crispy. The CFS was definitely fresh and covered in yummy white gravy. Mom had the Roast Beef and it was piled on. The beef was tender and tasty. This my office go to lunch place. Everything is hand made here. There are a menu full of every day staples here and there are always a handful of fresh "specials" every day. On the daily is a hot roast beef sandwich that is one of the best I've had. When they have the Chili Burger on the special board it is a must. Have not had a bad meal here. The staff is very nice and fast with the food. Highly recommend. read more

The Special Restaurant is a fairly new business, having opening in 2015. However in that short time, they have already been voted Best of Bellevue, Best of Sarpy County, and even Best of Omaha multiple times! That's a pretty big accomplishment for a true "Ma & Pa" style restaurant. The first time I ate there it was so good, I ate there again the next day. On that second day I ordered something different and it was so good, I ate there the next day. :) My favorite menu items are the Chicken Fried Steak, The Bacon & Egg Cheeseburger, and the Prime Rib (served only on Fridays, I believe). I also recently discovered the Fried Chicken Dinner on their menu, so I've ordered that the past few times. The other thing to add is that Laura is also a top-notch baker in her own right. The Special is actually one of the only places I ever order dessert from. But they sometimes sell out of things so quickly that I order them "to go" right when we sit down. read more

I have eaten here on past occasions. It is one of the few places in the Omaha area that serves liver and onions. They are well prepared and served with brown gravy and mashed potatoes and a veggie. Excellent choice if you like liver and onions. Otherwise the menu is riddled with a myriad of selections, most of them old style cafe choices from hot beef sandwich to fried chicken or NY steak. All of the classic sandwiches are there as well. The only problem if any is the fact that this place is so popular that it is very crowded especially during the lunch hour and there is very little waiting room. Parking can also be difficult. The interior of the cafe is right out of the "50's". Very old fashioned right down to bar stools at an eating counter. My guess is that this place is managed by a group of elderly ladies like mom and grandma and boy do they know how to cook. Sadly the cafe closes at 2:00 PM so get there early if you want a good spot to eat. The best eating house in Bellevue and maybe in Omaha if you like old fashioned cuisine. read more

Outstanding homemade tasting food. I had a Reuben, a common enough sandwich, but mine was dripping with melted cheese and sauerkraut on buttery rye. My daughter had roast beef and potatoes that tasted just like Grandma's. The prices were reasonable, something to brag about in this day and age, and and the servings were more than adequate. I would highly recommend this restaurant when you have a desire for good, old-fashioned food. read more

My husband had the Pepito, which was a giant sandwich full of sliced sausage, carne asade (or another protein of your choice), cabbage, potato chips, and tons of their delicious sauces on top. I got to try it, and it was SO flavorful and satisfying! Another giant portion that will leave you with leftovers, too. We ended the meal with two desserts - the flan and the churros: -The flan was great and super sweet, especially with the added chocolate sauce on top - yum. -The churros were my favorite of the two, as they were soft, warm (obviously freshly made) and also came with a few dips to dunk them in like chocolate and caramel. I'm still dreaming about those churros. With a great owner/staff, fun atmosphere, and out of this world amazing food, I definitely recommend you check out El Arepon for yourself!

Appetizers to wings it's usually the place for me. Today absolutely crushed that excitement for future visits. We were between youth basketball games and called to order ahead to be efficient and effective for our day but also to experience the great food and service weve come to enjoy. 12 wings and 2 chicken sandwiches. Said we were 15 minutes out. We arrived about 15 minutes after we called just like we discussed. Informed the staff who we were and that we were there. She said no problem and that shed have our order out the moment it was done. We waited for 10-15 minutes and the food arrived. Somehow room temp and fries colder than that. Both sandwiches and the fries and the tots. Cold. My sons wings were at room temp if i round up. We told the waitress she said shed talk to the manager and left and just never ever came back. Another staff member came by and asked how it was. We told her cold and not good. She said shed talk to the manager I said no need im sorry to bring it up but im hangry and we were in a hurry. But it was too late being ghosted by a waitress. She said I just got here but ill talk to them. Then she also just melted into the fabric of the restaurant. We did get to watch her talk to her coworkers and then stare at us in unison. But we were in a hurry So I ate my buffalo ice cold deli meat sandwich but I just couldnt choke down the fries my family ate their meals vulture style picking what they could stomach. This wouldnt be an issue at all if our original waitress had spoken to the manager or even just came back and said sorry? Or hey lets microwave it literally anything. We didnt ask for a discount we didnt yell at anyone.. But she hid from our table chucking deuces and no one spoke to us after that. We ended up paying $63 for a bottom 5 dinner. Just to get to the game on time. Im actually quite sad about this review.
