I recently re-visited Stokin' Goat with family, so figured I would do an updated review. This most recent visit was right when they opened at 11am, so we were the only diners in the restaurant. It was kind of cool to see it very empty, because we could admire all the goat accents around the interior and the cool bar, without a million people around it. There was a brunch menu at that early hour, but we decided to stick with the normal menu. Our server was great, and definitely very attentive since we were the only party in the place the entire time we were there. I had just had dental surgery so there were only a few things I could eat. I got the Meatballs appetizer (to cut up and have some meat in my stomach) and the French Onion Soup, which was the soup of the day. The French Onion Soup was super creamy and delicious. I'm used to there being just sort of darker brown with the cream and cheese on top only. This was totally cream colored and hearty. It came with a few pieces of bread points too that were good to dip/soak in the soup. My more substantial part of my meal, the meatballs, were a little less appetizing though. First off they came in a bowl, so they are not easy to cut at all (being giant meatballs, I would think anyone would want to cut them a little). And secondly, the meatballs themselves were kind of flavorless. There was some marina style sauce in the bowl with them, but the meat of the meatballs themselves had no seasoning or flavor. My husband got the caesar salad with chicken, and he was not a huge fan. It was way too heavily dressed that the salad leaves were almost wilty, and the chicken that was in the salad was cut in huge pieces - not easily eaten without sawing at the huge bits. So the food was not the star at this visit (except for the side of French onion soup), but the service and atmosphere were still great. I would return to Stokin' Goat but maybe choose some other items next time, when I can eat more substantial food. read more

Do yourself a favor and order the honey dipped goat balls! The creamy, rich goat cheese paired with the sweet honey is a fantastic combo. Also tried the truffle fries and really liked that they were thick cut and the garlic aioli they're paired with. I opted for the smoked Gouda Mac n cheese as my main and it was unfortunately pretty flavorless. There's not a ton of vegetarian entree options and this one was lackluster, but I'd still go back for the starters and to try their pesto gnocchi. read more

3rd time in. Food has been very good each time, with the exception of details. Fingerling potatoes underdone, chicken/risotto dish overly salty and chocolate cake was dry. But overall solid meals. Nice assortment of cocktails. The servers we've had were exceptional. Nice casually nice place to eat. read more

What happened Stokin Goat? Took 10 minutes before we were acknowledged and got water another 15 minutes after that to get cocktails and another 15 minutes to get our appetizer! What happened?! Nothing bad to say but nothing life-changing either. Solid, tasty food and drinks. We got the goat cheese balls (straight goat cheese inside so if you don't LOVE goat cheese they might be a bit strong for you), and mushroom arancini (5 stars) for apps. I also got one of the cocktails (blackberry and mint) which was fine. The Asiago crusted chicken would have been better in thinner cutlets in my opinion but no big complaints. The carrots were awesome. The French dip was a 5/5 in my opinion. The bread was awesome and I thought the meat/cheese was perfect. I've had mixed experiences here but overall great food and a great reputation with everyone who comes in! Always excellent service and ambiance. This time I had the shrimp risotto, and it was delicious! My only complaint is portion size/the 3 pieces of shrimp when it definitely could have had more shrimp/even other add ins. Great food, great service , and love the ambiance of the restaurant. She had the shrimp risotto and I had the Asiago crusted chicken with honey glazed carrots and mashed potatoes. We started of with an appetizer of bruschetta, which was some of the best we have ever had ,( and she's Italian ) however we felt the portion size of this was very small ( 3 pieces ) for what you pay for it. Service was fantastic! We called ahead of time and asked if we needed to make a reservation for a party of 8 on Sunday afternoon. No reservation needed and they already had a table that could accommodate us. It's happy hour all day on Sunday, along with the Brunch menu, and the regular menu. Must try: Honey Dipped Goat Balls (deep fried goat cheese balls with honey and arugula) and the Hair of the Goat Bloody Mary. We ordered 3 plates of these goat cheese balls (7 on each). The Bloody Mary is crazy good, the bottomless mimosa drinkers wished they ordered the Bloody Mary instead. The truffle fries were a bit soggy and did not have a strong truffle flavor. We had 3 burgers at the table and at least 2 of them were over cooked, still juicy though. read more

Terrible experience. Bartender told me multiple items on the menu that "weren't very good" and got truffle fries and were very much regular fries. Asked to get them returned and was told they use "truffle salt" yet still not a hint of truffle when in fact I had these fries a week prior and tasted the truffle. Also given a doctor pepper when I asked for a Coke Zero. my husband was told the steak sandwich he ordered can sometimes be tuff when in fact it was delicious. Waiters and manager where huddled up in a corner throughout our visit chatting and not checking on us throughout our visit. So disappointing and will not be back, and I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to come here. read more

The restaurant looked nice and the menu was great. I ordered the salmon salad. It was my first time there and I had fish bones in my salad. It was super strange because it wasn't a solid piece of salmon in the salad, it was chunks throughout the salad. When I pointed it out to the server and showed it to him, he said "oh no, sorry" and asked if I was finished eating. I said I obviously was and he took it away. There was no offer to make it right in any way or remove it from my bill. That was super disappointing. It's pretty sad to pay $20 for a salad with fish bones in it. read more

Up off Maple, this restaurant is hidden away in yet another strip mall. Don't let that fool you. It's more than its location. The parking is available at front and back of the restaurant. Hard not to find a spot. The service at both the tables and the bar is excellent. We've enjoyed it several times now. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The wine selection is en pointe. If you look, you'll find a good bottle for your table. The food is notable. Even simple things like a BLT are augmented. In that case, with brie. We've yet to encounter anything that wasn't tasty. It's out of the way for us and we've been there several times. We plan to return. read more

One of The appetizers they chose was muscles, which were good. My family and I are in town visiting my parents. Very disappointed in their reservation response. We called Monday and followed the automated message to leave our name, phone number, time number in our party for the reservation. NO ONE has called back to confirm or to give the courtesy call back to say the reservation time requested was unavailable. We have gotten ZERO response and we have called twice with the same info. They are not answering the phone at all. Edit: My family actually went to the restaurant to find this sign on the door. We decided to "rent" out the private room for my husband's birthday. I say rent with quotations because they don't make you pay for the room as long as you hit a $250 tab which is easy to do with our group! The room was so cute! Cozy and spacious, decorated beautifully too! I really liked the space and will absolutely be utilizing it again! Let's move on to the best part though.... the food! OMG it was so amazing. First we enjoyed the meatball, honey dipped goat balls and truffle fries appetizers. The meatball was so good, the dipped goat balls were dreamy but the truffle fries really lacked the truffle taste so we were a bit disappointed with those. For dinner our group ordered a variety of things and of course taste tested each meal! The Garlic Shrimp Risotto was out of this freaking world. I am still thinking about it from last night. SO SO SO good! The Blackened Chicken Linguine was fabulous! I thought the portion was a bit small for the price but the taste was awesome! Our friend, who is the pickiest eater ever (I'm talking, usually orders chicken nuggets when out to eat) decided to order the French Dip Baguette and she said it was delicious! That is saying A LOT coming from her! The Juicy Wagyu Burger was also so good and very well priced! The Asiago Crusted Chicken was majorly lacking some flavor and was dry. Our friend ended up requesting a side of demi to help and that made a huge difference. But I would honestly never order that there after tasting it. Most things were really good. I ordered takeout since I was just in the area for travel. I was able to call and place my order and told a time it would be ready. When I got there - it was easy to get in and ask for my to-go. They had it ready. I went back to my hotel and enjoyed! The steak was cooked exactly how I had asked. Asparagus was fresh. The potato's were more of a mashed potato than a scalloped but still very good. Best part - it was a fair price! The quality was there and it would cost more elsewhere. We initially set outside sat outside which they have a very nice patio. We got the crab cakes for an appetizers and those were really good that could be a mill with a side salad or fries. My friend got the short rib sandwich which was delicious I should I should have gotten that but I didn't want to get the same thing. I wanna get the same thing. Instead I got the turkey sandwich turkey sandwich and I submitted out with sourdough bread instead of the roll sourdough Brandon said of the role that they had. Overall the sandwich overall the sandwich was good flavor but I wish it would have got the short rib but I wish I would have got the short rib. The service was really good at this location. The manager was very attentive and made very good suggestions aint very good suggestions in regards to the menu. I would I would definitely come back here if I was at Omaha. read more

Went for lunch with 2 other friends. Food was mixed. My friends loved their salmon salad and bread on their turkey sandwich. One had chicken vegetable soup and could barely eat it due to over salting - both of my friends tried the soup and both agreed. I had the chicken and goat sandwich. The flavors were good, however, the chicken was so over cooked and dry it was hard to "saw" through. The server was very nice but she didn't ask if we wanted one bill or separate and just brought one and then kind of disappeared. I know servers don't like splitting the bill, but they should ask. I came here thinking I'm going to eat the short rib sammich! But while perusing the menu, I remembered that I was supposed to be cutting carbs. So I switched up my plan and went with the short rib plate. It came with fingerling potatoes and broccolini. The potatoes and broccolini were cooked to perfection. The short ribs must've been braising a very long time because the fat was almost entirely rendered, and the meat was fork tender. It was a pricey meal, but I'd get it again. I also had an appetizer of the crispy brussels sprouts. They're very good as well. Not as sweet as some of the variants I've had of this dish but was still savory goodness. We went here on a Sunday night because we had to escape from the intolerably loud music at Blue. The music was loud here, but not as loud as at Blue. I haven't been back in four years and the food hasn't gotten any better. My friend had the so-called steak sandwich with horseradish. The steak was very thin and tough and she had to ask for more horseradish. Even then, not that flavorful. I got the salmon sandwich and it essentially had no flavor. Both items were overpriced for what we got. The only way this place stays in business must be the location on West Maple Road and the fact that most people can't tell the difference between good and mediocre food. My review from four years ago certainly didn't cause the food to be improved. There are much better places to go in Omaha. If you have to drive, then do it. Don't patronize this place. read more

Awesome lunch spot! I wanted to eat dinner here the evening before but we ended up some where different. So I was glad when we go to hit this spot before we left Omaha. I ordered the Goat Cheese Salad and an appetizer of pork belly... I was so disappointed when I was told they were out of pork belly. So I opted just to add shrimp to my salad. The flavor of the pears, pecans, and goat cheese all went well with the vinaigrette. I just wish there was just a little more dressing. Over all it was really good. Always have a great meal at the Stokin Goat. I only wish the place was larger as reservations seem to book up fast. We typically go here when we (the girls) are just wanting a good salad. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good menu options but I am not sure if I have had a better salad anywhere. My favorite is the Goat in the Garden. With the dried cranberries and candied walnuts this salad has such good flavor and the portion size is plentiful and filling. I have added shrimp or chicken to it in the past but it really doesn't need it. If you just want a salad you need to try this place. A few really good options on the menu. read more

I have been here on three separate occasions, and each one, there is always something wrong or I send food back. The first time I went was opening weekend and it was a mess. I went back another time and it was okay. The third time I went with my husband to try one more time. I got the waygu burger and it was SO overcooked and the fries were okay. In the meantime, my husband and I shared his risotto dish. It was okay, but kind of mushy. When the burger came back out, it was great. You could tell another suo chef or the chef made the dish which I appreciate. The problem I have here is that there is always something wrong. Either my meal is wrong, something doesn't come, or service is so slow that it takes two hours from start to finish. I want to love it because everyone I talk to loves it, but it isn't for me. We moved here 3 years ago and heard about this wonderful, scratch kitchen like the one we were used to in Colorado. The Stokin' Goat was all of that and more. We have known Amanda since the first or second time we have been coming here since Oct of 2022 and have since gotten to know other help like today's Sarah. The food is always amazing, and I usually order the Seafood Bene for the scratch made Hollandaise, which is very hard to find anywhere. I ordered the French Dip instead for a change of pace today, and it was delicious, little or no fat on the beef and it tasted wonderful. My spouse wanted to order her usual Full Breakfast, but today also did something different with the Toastie. Again, both great as our usual meals. We love the Happy Hour specials for Sunday. Whenever we come, the service and food are always excellent. Out of the 15+ times we have been here the last 3 years, each experience has been 5 out of 5. They also have a rewards program, which is also reduces the cost. Plus, we always take advantage of the buy $100 and $25 free gift card this time of the year. Both of us agree, this is one of the most under rated places in Omaha. We love it!!!!! read more

Went for the first time the other evening with a friend and couldn't believe we hadn't stopped by before! It's the perfect place to grab drinks and apps with a friend. They have a happy hour deal where you get a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine for $27, and it was so worth it! It was delicious and at a great price.
