Egg on toast was more like ehhhh on toast. $9!
    Laura R.

It pains me to write this one because I was looking forward to eating at this place located inside Rice's Flea Market for months. Let's start with the positives. Service was friendly and quick. Easy menu with little twists to make them unique. Iced tea was fresh. You can read some curated cook books while you wait. I ordered a lemon donut and it was ok, 3/5 stars. It was more like cake than donut though. Negative: location isn't advertised all that well. It's in one of the heated barns, in a corner. There's no place to really eat because the line to order takes up the seating room. The food. This is where I'm so sad. I ordered the eggs on toast. It was so salty, like overbearingly salty, I actually couldn't finish it. I'm one of those weirdos who always finishes too. I just couldn't. Maybe I just caught them on an off day. It happens. I wanted this local business to be good. I'm so sad that $9 +tax (they do charge 3% for paying with a card too) for an egg on toast with a thick milky sauce on it was not an edible meal. Donut was $2. Iced tea was $3.50.

Egg and cheese on an English muffin. Out of this world!

A delightful surprise inside Rice's Market! Plenty busy and full of happy regulars promising to be back. The donuts are small but moist and dense. The menu is a nice mix and they serve coffee as well. The eggs on toast on the milk bread looked insane! My aunt had that and I had a breakfast sandwich. I was really impressed! There's a few chairs inside but I noticed some picnic tables around the outside of the barn too. Highly recommend!

Tomato gazpacho (with crab) and shrimp wedge salad, alongside hibiscus tea drink

Tomato gazpacho and shrimp wedge salad were amazing. Gazpacho had crab meat inside too. Hibiscus drink can't be passed over. Pictures below

Good stuff, only complaint is the amount of butter on the rolls is insane, way too much. Always the sad fate of fatty america

The poutine fries had this delectable salty gravy and a good amount of meat and cheese. The shrimp tacos tasted bright and fresh. Everything was delicious. Sorry we were so hungry and I forgot to take pictures! I ordered a Blood Orange margarita, which was strong but well balanced and tasted like it was made with fresh juice--it made an excellent impression! I hate margaritas made with sweet and sour mix, and I'm pretty picky since I make my own juice mix when I make margaritas at home. I was like, "There drink game is next level." So I felt confident ordering the Strawberry Rosemary 75--but it was a big let down. It had a very chemical taste reminding me of lemon all-purpose cleaner. Usually I like gin cocktails but I didn't care for the flavor combo with this one. I hate wasting food, but I could barely take a sip without gagging. It says on the menu that it's a house favorite --and that is deceiving! Lol. The service was fantastic. Food came out in perfect timing. Our server clearly saw we were enjoying ourselves and did not rush us, and instead paced our meal well. I wish I could remember his name--but he was a lovely gentleman working 5/22. We loved the atmosphere with the plants. We would totally come back! Keep up the great work!

Staff was attentive but not pushy, and the restaurant had multiple areas and opportunities of seating throughout the floor plan. The food was good quality and flavorful across the board. Calamari was a great starter to share with a tomato based sauce and sweet chili dipping sauces. For mains, the jambalaya was impressively large and delicious. The stuffed chicken wouldn't be something I would normally order out (...it's chicken), but I was pleasantly impressed. The lobster and scallops with risotto was decadent for those who are lobster fans. The only odd one was the pan seared fish which came with mashed potatoes. Could just be a preference but alas, the dish was still good. We split dessert at the end - the carrot cake (super nontraditional so just FYI there) and the chocolate peanut butter cake. All in all, solid meal, good for large groups, and nice experience.
