    Line to order

This is a satisfying stop whenever we ride through the area. On weekends and nice days there's usually a line so be prepared for a bit of a wait. The burgers are well-seasoned and pretty tasty - I like to add a couple of onion rings for crunch. The fried foods (we had fries, seasoned curly fries, onion rings, and chicken tenders) are like any stadium fried foods. I enjoyed my strawberry milkshake but wish it were more strawberry flavored. I wouldn't say the food is memorable or extraordinary, but it's the classic stuff and hits the spot, especially after walking/riding around. There are plenty of tables and benches on either side, both covered and uncovered. 3.5 but bumping to 4 for the great location and summertime nostalgia vibe.

Outdoor dining to the sounds of motorcycles on River Road!

So we went on a 4 hour tubing excursion and when we finished we were all starving. Now we can't just go anywhere because we are wet and in bathing suits. I start searching and find this place. They have picnic benches so it's perfect. One of my cohorts starts complaining saying this place is terrible they used to come here and it's gross blah blah blah. So I was like ok how long ago? Oh you haven't been there in a decade? Ok we are going. We get there and it's cool because it's an order window and a pick up window. Tons of outside seating. The bathrooms are kinda hidden. They are around back. The food came up quick. All of us got the beer bartered cod and curly fries. I also got a root beer float. The cod was awesome and the fries were perfectly crispy. The float was pretty good. The root beer could've been a better brand. Tasted like it might have been A treat or something to that effect. The skeptic changed their tune by the end of it. So now I'm thinking this is going to be part of every tubing trip we take.

    Order of small fries, $5.00

We have been going to Dilly's for over 20 years. It was always a special treat to stop and eat on a warm summer night. Last week we made a trip up the river to a have Dilly burger and milkshake. We were really surprised to see how much their prices have gone up, $10.95 for a burger, $5.00 for small fries, and $7.00 for a milkshake. With tax that's $25 a person, $100 for a family of four to go to Dilly's!!! We were told at 7:30 that we would have to get it to go because they close at 8:00, huh? It took 15 minutes to get our order. The small fries had about 20 French fries in the container. I'm afraid that will probably be our last summer journey to Dilly's

A close up of my raw ground beef lunch.

If you enjoy eating raw hamburger meat - go to this dump. I asked for a medium-well hamburger and got slab of raw ground meat. And the worst thing was they were nasty when I took it back and REFUSED to cook it more. They said it was well-done. And please don't think I write restaurant reviews all the time. This is my VERY FIRST YELP REVIEW. But my experience at this place was just so bad I felt I had to try to save you from it. Here are the photos, would you eat this? I added a close up so you could really appreciate how raw the meat was. And now imagine the workers there telling you it's well-done.

    Very dry burger.

Salty salty salty. Chicken tenders were way over cooked. Burgers are dry. Fries are too salty too. Kind of disappointing after reading raving reviews from google.

Really nice eating establishment steps from the canal and bike trail, and on a beautiful day like the afternoon when we came over, an unbeatable outdoor location. Dilly's has takeout only, you order and pay at one window, then get your food at another window, and finally you (and your group) go seat and enjoy your food at one of the covered pavilions surrounding the nearly half an acre of outdoor covered space. The food is delicious. My husband had a sumptuous pulled pork sandwich and I had a delicious grilled Tilapia sandwich that, had we not been to a wedding, I would have repeated. The sandwiches came with cole slaw, fries and pickles and these were also delicious Food wise this is a winner. My only complaint is that the huge sign outside advertises burgers, fish, ice cream and frozen yogurt. But they've never had frozen yogurt according to the salesperson. The other point is their extensive use of plastic and styrofoam. I wish they would use a more eco sensitive alternative.

What are they thinking when defacing their own restaurants walls?

Got the Dilly burger -- it was cooked well and the bun was great. Also got a cup of ice cream which was also very tasty.

I love the convenience of the kiosk ordering. Service was very quick, and everyone on staff was so kind and helpful. I was blown away by their gluten-free menu. They offer gluten-free buns for burgers and sandwiches, gluten-free crispy chicken, and even gluten-free desserts. I tried the Turtle Pie and the Lemon Raspberry Pie--both were delicious, but the Turtle Pie was truly to die for. This was hands down one of the best burgers and fries I've ever had. Gluten-free bread can really make or break a meal, and this place does it right. The gluten-free bun tasted fresh and delicious, the burger itself was incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the basil aioli was insanely good. I also ordered their specialty Cherry Cream Cola, and it was so good that I had to get a second one. It tasted like a fresh, sweet Cherry Coke and was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. I sat outside and brought my dog, and one of the staff members even came out with a bowl of water for him. Such a thoughtful touch that made us feel so welcome. It being dog-friendly is definitely a huge bonus for me. Amazing food, wonderful service, and one of the best gluten-free experiences I've had. I can't wait to come back!

***2 1/2 stars***…read more Maybe I'm just not into the concept of smash burgers, but I really didn't get the hype with this one. This was a special request from my top-tier chum from the Kingdom of Sussex, who'd been eyeing up this place for months and petitioned to come here after our NJ Bookstore Crawl adventures last weekend (I wanted to go to the only guaranteed high quality eating establishment in the Kingdom, Farmer's Daughter in Newton but was overruled by the home crowd). I'd heard some decent buzz about it myself and am always up for trying something that looks edgier than the average bear in Sussex, so off we went (even though I had a BBQ later in the day that basically had all of the food that was provided at this establishment - that's on me for sure). The entrance was a little hard to figure out; initially we went to the front of the building but there wasn't an obvious entryway and we belatedly figured out it was on the side. Some extra signage in that regard could go a long way, but not the biggest deal. We got inside, and that's what matters. Very clean and spacious, with some Western/patriotic themes; I can always get down with some longhorn displays and whatnot. The business model/ordering system is a little odd in that it almost offers too many methods, if that makes sense. It seemed like you could get normal table service, but there was also a counter where I think you could place a normal order, or a kiosk at the front to do so, OR a QR code at the table. Lot going on, and ambivalent on what to make of it overall - I guess it's better to have more options in theory, but I thought it was unnecessarily chaotic/confusing. We opted for the scanning of the QR code at the table, which was fine. My chum didn't realize you could tilt the QR display to get a better angle for your phone, but I'm certainly not going to blame Burger and Butcher for that 10 seconds of chaos. By far our biggest issue was the price point. Neither one of us is averse to spending money when the situation arises, but this was pretty egregious to the point where it really tainted the whole experience. We both got a burger and split an order of fries. That was the meal. Now, full disclosure, we got the "better" burger, the Waygu, which was 4 ounces and $15. Not worth it. I think part of is the smash burger of it all, but I definitely didn't notice the allegedly higher quality cattle involved, and I got it plain so no condiments to distract the palate from the essence of the bovine. I would 100% just go for the cheaper burger here, which is $10. The accompanying fries were fine (some were squishier than others, and those found their way closer to my chum for her consumption) but cost a separate $8. It reminded me of Zinburger, which probably isn't around anymore because they constantly gauged you with additional costs for sides like this. And THIS was wild - if you wanted ketchup? No problem. If you wanted literally any other sauce featured on the menu, just a little container of it? At least an extra $2. At a certain point, it's less about the price and more about the principle. And again - nothing we had was significantly better than what you'd get at Five Guys or Smashburger and for the price it should be. The staff was perfectly nice and since this is basically higher-end fast food, our meals came within five or 10 minutes. Fine on that front. But if I want to spend $30 for a burger and side (which is what this came down to, including tip)? I'm just going to go to a nicer, sit-down restaurant with more options and better food. Disappointing and I hope they really reconsider the pricing structure because in this inflationary environment, you're alienating potential customers before they even get to sample the animals.

The food is expensive for what you get, as everything is a la carte which adds up the total. It definitely feels Cobble Hill all the way through. I got the Truffle Burger, which I really enjoyed as it has a great flavor, but the plate is very naked for which it comes on. Look at my photos and you will see a naked tray with not much on it. Imagine if I just ordered a burger. I think you would be looking at two star review. $60 for Mac n Cheese bites (excellent) and Chili (mellow, no real heat), and a mediocre milkshake knock this review back on its derrière. My server was cute and nice, which is why I tipped her well, but I do not see me returning as this was an expensive experience for food that I know can be reproduced elsewhere for a lower price, and probably complementing the food instead of being something to order separately. I walked out thinking all the while what I did wrong to deserve such an experience. Good opportunity though whiffed on through. This experience will pass.

I visited for lunch during Restaurant Week, which I enjoyed because of its close proximity to the corporate hub in Center City where I work and for its solid menu. I was seated quickly at a high-top for my noon reservation. The restaurant is much larger inside than it looks, split in half with the left providing an upscale bar aesthetic while the right presents a quieter, modern lounge feel. (It seemed like service staff was directing those with previously-booked OpenTable RSVPs to the lounge side.) Service was great, as my waitress continuously checked in during my meal even as more customers arrived throughout the lunch period. I appreciated being offered to add fries on my burger order, as Village Whiskey didn't have it automatically added on the RW menu. The only drawback was she forgot to ask how I wanted my burger cooked, but it came out medium rare which is the way I eat it regardless. I trust that's how they default, which is a good sign. The Food Breakdown: Deviled Eggs (4/5) - Classic, solid, and a good starter. I honestly selected it since the other appetizer options didn't really appeal to me, but nothing spectacular or negative about it. Four comes with each order. All-American Burger (5/5) - Fantastic. I'm not a pickle enjoyer, but the acidity just blended into each juicy bite. The jam had a slight kick, and you can taste the fattiness within the double Wagyu smash patties. High-quality all around and a solid portion size. Duck Fat Fries (4/5) - They were well-seasoned, and each order comes with a small side of ketchup. Granted I didn't ask, but I almost wish they offered a spicy mayo instead because it would complement the crunchiness better. Overall, the food quality and taste were superb. My only caveat was the price, knowing that $35 after tax and gratuity for lunch (without an additional drink) is costly. I wouldn't be able to come everyday, but it certainly has my vote for sharing with others the destination that has an immaculate burger.
