I can spend hours in here looking at all the various spices and teas. It's a bit addicting. Love that they offer a free sample of their tea of the day. Right now I'm enjoying the mushroom salt I bought and used on my mushroom toast and in a creamy mushroom soup I made. Ohhh they also have recipes on the store that help you figure out how to use the various spices. So helpful

Great place for loose leaf teas, spice blends, flavored salts and sugars.

When it comes to living in a pandemic, many of us adapted by picking up new hobbies and interests. The same held true for me. I had always enjoyed tea, but that interest went into overdrive the last few years. I experimented and learned as much as I could about teas that included what quenched my taste palette. Given I'm immune compromised, I have been slow to venture out as the pandemic has raged on. But exploring the Tea and Spice Exchange has been on my wish list. So today I decided to take the step and see what it was like. I still wear a mask so I'm especially appreciative of when employees take note of that and are already wearing a mask, or willing to slip one on. Situated off of O'Malley and the Old Seward Highway, the Spice and Tea Exchange is a franchise location of a national chain that was founded in 2008. It is located next to Fire Tap Alehouse and in the same strip mall as Yogurt Lounge off of O'Malley Centre Drive. The parking lot can get quite busy, especially during the lunch hour. They have a variety of goods including loose leaf teas, spice blends, spices, salts, sugars and an assortment of gifts. I found the store to be very clean and well laid out. As I walked in I was warmly greeted by an employee who asked if this was my first time visiting. When I confirmed I was she walked me through where everything was located and then let me browse the store. After awhile she checked up on me to see if I had any concerns and furnished me with a small basket when she noticed I had my hands full. To a tea connoisseur such as myself (thanks pandemic!), this was a truly dangerous store. They had a wide variety of teas and I enjoyed browsing the selection. When I found one that sounded interesting, I picked up a small sampler bag and then moved on. By the time all was said and done my little basket was quite full and I decided to be nice to my bank account and check out. When the employee saw me come in the store she had slipped on a mask. She was very friendly and I felt quite at ease there. As I was checking out she was telling me about their point system and how that worked. Needless to say I truly enjoyed my first visit to The Spice and Tea Exchange and will be returning in the near future.

YES! They called me and found our Popcorn Blend Recipe! Just start storing them in a computer! Ask for my wife's Popcorn Seasoning 'Judy's Greek Popcorn Blend!' Enjoy your movie!

I am so grateful they were so accommodating - Liz helped put together a cool gift bag that we had as a raffle prize for a company event.

The presentation alone deserved its own spotlight, with vibrant colors, thoughtful plating, and that "don't touch it yet, just admire it" kind of appeal. The salmon panang curry was hands down my favorite. The salmon was perfectly cooked tender, flaky, and rich sitting in a velvety panang curry sauce that balanced creamy coconut with just the right amount of heat. The flavors were bold but beautifully harmonious, with a depth that made every bite better than the last. It's the kind of dish you immediately start planning to order again before you've even finished it. The tonkotsu miso soup was equally impressive. The broth was luxuriously rich and full-bodied, with that slow-simmered depth you hope for in a great tonkotsu. The miso added a savory complexity that made the whole bowl incredibly comforting. Every spoonful felt warming and satisfying perfect for an Anchorage evening. Beyond the food itself, the overall experience was wonderful. When a restaurant manages to combine stunning presentation with flavors that truly deliver, it stands out and RickShaw absolutely delivers. I'll definitely be back... and next time, I won't forget the photos.
