I met Melissa years ago while she was set up at a farmers market and was delighted and totally surprised to find out that she had a shop in my small neighborhood. Oaklandon is quaint and cozy but not really known for the excellent small businesses we've gained in the past few years. It helps to have a shop like this in our little neck of the woods, but that's not the only reason I'm now a die-hard of Essential Wellbeings! I love to visit, even if just for the excellent vibes. The shop is thoughtfully curated with a huge selection of harder to find crystals, literature, magical tools, and of course, aromatherapy (Melissa's specialty). Melissa is an expert in so many things. Her down-to-earth energy is so refreshing! She's super well-read and knowledgeable but the humility in the way she shares what she's learned is the real gem. It can be kind of hard to find people who are experts in this area to begin with, but then to find someone who's not pretentious about it is a gift. I took the chakra balancing course and had an amazing experience learning so much! The first product I fell in love with was the chakra oil mists. Shortly after finding Essential Wellbeings, I had a pretty difficult conflict in my life and Melissa welcomed me into her space to relax and chat without expecting anything in return. I'm so grateful to have stumbled upon this gem that was right beneath my nose

Yes, they do actually have little cauldrons available for purchase, but they also have lots of crystals and gems, books on yoga and wellness, incense and holders, oils, jewelry, clothing, smudge sticks, tote bags, a few foods and beverages and lots more. The retail store is small but they carry a lot of goods made by local craftspeople and purveyors. You can tell that every single item on display has been carefully considered and lovingly chosen. The place smells heavenly, the lighting is lovely, and the air is peaceful in here. It's a nice place. I want to come back and attend one of the yoga classes that they offer each week. They also offer meditation classes, sound baths, reiki and other services.

Tea is normal in our family, and because he is little, I take the time to read every ingredient and choose something appropriate for him. I wasn't asking the staff to do that work for me. After settling on rooibos, I asked how the bulk tea worked and was told to scoop what I wanted into a bag and they would weigh it at the counter. I then asked a simple question: about how much does one scoop weigh? I was just trying to estimate whether I wanted two ounces, four ounces, or something in between. The answer was basically, "I don't know," with no attempt to help beyond that. That might sound small, but the entire interaction felt dismissive. If I'm standing in your shop with my child trying to buy a product you sell by weight, a little patience and basic assistance goes a long way. Kids can enjoy herbal tea too. Families have different traditions, routines, and food cultures. I wasn't looking for commentary or judgment. I was simply trying to buy tea for my kid. I left empty-handed and won't be returning.

The owners, Marlen and Robert, are incredibly sweet, hardworking and smart. They're often set up at the Broad Ripple Farmers Market if you want to pop in and say hello yourself. Hailing from the country of Jordan, Marlen brings her family's recipes to the States in a modern, health way. My favorite frozen meal so far is the Eggplant with Beef meal, and the turkey meatballs look great as well. I ordered on a Monday and got it hand-delivered at my door by the owner that Friday. Great service! The hummus is delicious and so far, I've used the zaatar as a topping for my meatballs and to top off my hummus and naan snack. It's unlike anything I've ever had and I love discovering new combos!

From stones and crystals, to books on spellwork and moon phases, spellwork supplies, smudging supplies, oils and incense. The more you look, the more you find. The space is located in a building considered to be historical in downtown Anderson. Once an auction house, it also housed one of my favorite tattoo artists for a time. So I was excited to see what the women who own Twisted Twigs had made of the space, and I was not disappointed. The whole place just radiates with cheery vibes and so many sights and smells that you want to draw in. I would have loved to have collected books from the shelves and curl up in their pile of pillows on the floor and read and drink tea for hours. Alas, I also had others with me, including the toddler granddaughters. I was low on smudging supplies and was pleasantly surprised with their prices. Compared to what I typically pay ordering online, their prices are competitive enough that I'd rather drive up to their shop to buy from them and indulge in the atmosphere and other treats. I also picked up a planner that I've been eyeing online, after being able to really see what it consists of. This quickly became one of my top favorite shops!

The staff that was there when I visited was pretty young, which could explain the laid back vibe--but they were all very nice, helpful, and super knowledgeable, which was awesome. Starting with the not so great: - A downside to this particular place is that instead of choosing different scents to mix, they already have them pre-mixed. For example, champagne and clean linen scents are already combined, rather than letting you choose and mix them yourself. Since it's structured this way, it does speed up the process, but I will say there are still a few pre-mixed scents you can mix together that would probably turn out smelling great. - When I went to pick up my candle a few days later, I was disappointed to find that it was damaged. Not sure how it happened, but I was shocked when I unwrapped it to discover it was chipped. Even more disappointing was that the staff wrapped a damaged item without mentioning it to me. On the positive side: - It's BYO food and drinks, which we loved. My friends and I brought a bottle of prosecco, charcuterie, and quiche to enjoy. Our server let us eat, drink, and chat before starting the candle pouring, which was perfect for catching up! - Parking is easy - Gorgeous vessels to choose from - Reasonably priced They also have a little gift shop with an assortment of trinkets!
