I was absolutely astonished to discover the best Indian Nepali food ever and the restaurant is in Sheboygan!! I am from Chicago and we have good Indian food but nothing like The Spices Restaurant and Bar in Sheboygan. We had the best Chicken 65 ever! The delicious and perfectly seasoned Palak Chicken and Green Chicken Korma were outstanding, top-shelf, made-from-scratch and the food was served piping hot and to our preferred spice level, completely tailored to our taste. The vegetable Bryan was intensely aromatic, and their cheese garlic naan was simply amazing. I also loved that Surya and the bartender were great. You must try this gem. It's simply the best. FIVE STARS!! Prices are exceptionally reasonable for the high quality and generous portions. Wish we had a Spices Restaurant in Chicago. My wife and I (she's from South India) have been going here for the past two years since we moved to the Milwaukee area. We've lived in Chicago before moving here and loved Chicago food, especially the Little India neighborhood there; that being said, this place is phenomenal and bar far the best Indian restaurant we've had in the greater Milwaukee area. Never have we had a bad meal. Have tried most things on the menu- while it seems more North Indian (less spice used than in South India), it makes up for it with the Nepal menu options. The fried chili momos and steamed chicken momos (Nepali flavor and sauce yum), and the Tandoori Chicken are always well-made and seasoned. The Chai is phenomenal. This location, compared to downtown, is less 'dress-upped', but in our experience, the less dressed-up an Asian restaurant is, the better the food is going to be. Cute decor includes elephants, flowers, and types of bamboo steamers and such, making it very cute and homey. The service is always great, both the Nepali gentleman and the other Indian gentlemen servers are friendly and helpful. The only few 'negatives' we have had- service can take a bit, but it's completely worth it for the quality that comes out of the kitchen. Some small things- like the tandoori chicken not having sliced ginger or the chai being a little on the tamer side of spice- are to be expected with inflation and whatnot for the food industry. In the end, food is amazing, service is top-notch, and what we feel is the best reason to go there is the sense of home and comfort we get from the food and staff. Worth the drive, worth the try. I visited The Spices with my family on Christmas Eve. The restaurant was empty outside of our table for most of the time we were there. The space is quite large and can accommodate a lot of people. The main room is fairly sparse in terms of decor and there is a large bar. Service was fine, but not extraordinary, especially since we were the only table for most of the time. There were some communication challenges. The veggie momos were good as was the accompanying sauce. The rest of our party enjoyed their dishes as well, which ranged from Indian to Himalayan entrees. I really hate to leave a bad view. It's a really cute place. The surface was a bit lackluster to be honest. I was the only guy in the entire place mid afternoon. And I had such high hopes for the food, but that's where things just kind of fall apart. Honestly, this was Pretty low tier . I had chicken tikka masala which had spice but absolutely no flavor. I know that's an odd combination. Even the Nan was blah. When I had ordered an appetizer some dumplings which were really overdone it didn't come with the sauces shown in the picture of the menu. I asked the server and he said no we don't have those sauces??? So overall really disappointing, especially since this is within striking distance of home And could've been a go to but now for me it is for sure. A no need to go again. read more

My wife was excited. She had discovered a new restaurant she wanted to take me to. So a 30 mile trip to the south side of Sheboygan was in store. We entered a very spacious, light and tidy dining area and were immediately seated. Wait person was friendly and efficient, our service was excellent throughout our experience here. We were given bottled water, which I found a bit odd... but okay. We ordered veggie samosas, vegetable momos, cheese naan and shrimp korma. While we waited for our food we watched the two televisions above the bar. Best as I can describe they were playing Indian music videos. Very entertaining...lavish costumes and grand productions. Young men and women earnestly singing to each other. Hugging, but never kissing. Then the food started coming. The samosas first....oh man, were they good! Then the naan and momos. I love a good naan. So I loved the naan here. Both sauces were perfect. Mint and tamarin I believe. So far it had been a stellar experience. Then came our main dish. The flavors were complex and delicious. Had never seen rice quite like we got; but I need more of it. Along with the shrimp korma made for a great main course. All in all, an excellent meal. In retrospect two appetizers would have been plenty. Having three and sharing a main course was more than sufficient. Usually I'll quit when I'm full; but here the flavors kept me nibbling away until I was stuffed Vegetarian friendly with plenty of choices for all diets. I've had a number of different dishes here and all have been great. My go-tos are the Palak Paneer and Paneer Korma with garlic naan. You will need to ask for higher spice level if you're looking for more kick, but the dishes are flavorful and savory enough without extra spice. Portions are just right -- I always leave full even after leaving most of my rice. Great place for vegetarians with a lot of different options on the menu. I always dine in but food can be ordered to go. The dining space is not the most glamorous, but it's clean and quiet enough to have a conversation. Give The Spices a try! read more

This place is a little hidden gem, and is definitely worth a visit. Let's start with the food, which is simply delicious and expertly prepared. I food quality and cooking techniques are on par with some of the best restaurants in bigger metro areas. The only thing negative about this place is the service. It service is a little poor, not Manitowoc Brix bad, but bad just the same. The wait staff seem to be a little overly distracted with their phones and not exactly paying attention to customers. This is an easy fix and hopefully the restaurant management does something about it. I hope this place survives, it is Sheboygan and they don't serve bar food. read more

At last, a nice Indian/Nepalese restaurant in Sheboygan! My wife and I have had to drive to Thiensville and Milwaukee for good Indian food all these years, so this is a blessing. We started with the Veggie Samosa (have to) and they did not disappoint. The Momos (dumplings) were delish, albeit a little spicier than I was expecting, but that is not a fault, just an observation. We also ordered the Chicken Tikka and the Green Chicken Korma. Both dishes were quite tasty and plentiful. We could not eat everything, so the leftovers will make for a delicious lunch. I recommend this restaurant, especially to those in Sheboygan and surrounding area who have never had Indian food. We walked into a fresh, clean, open, nicely decorated room with table clothes and linen napkins. We were served right away by a very pleasant gentleman. We ordered our drinks. I got the best drink that I have ever had in a restaurant. It reminded me of being on a tropical beach vacation. We asked many questions. Our server was polite and informative. Each of us got something different so we could try a few different items on the menu. Everything I tried was excellent! I didn't know that I would enjoy this style of food so much. The bread was fabulous. Everything was so good, two of us ordered to go items to take home. There were a lot of leftovers to take home as well. The servings are substantial. Quality food prepared just right. We are lucky to have this restaurant in Sheboygan. If you have never had Indian food don't be afraid to try it like I was.
