Server was very inattentive even tho there were only two other tables being served at the time (Early afternoon lunch) One real complaint: The Inn wanted $1,00 per slice to cut the birthday cake we brought in.My sister-in-law got a knife and cut the cake. My family had dinner at the Spinning Wheel Inn last SaturdAy night. The setting is beautiful--clean, bright, contemporary yet respectful of the building's history. Service is friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable. Food is ok but not exceptional. We started with crab cakes and nachos. Three of us had burgers, which were on the small side and over cooked. Sweet potato fries were good. My oldest son had sheperd's pie-- portion was small and citrus flavor was overpowering. Deserts were disappointing. Apple crisp had too many apples, not enough crisp. Berry shortcake was good but would have been better with more berries. We will try this restaurant again, mostly because there are few family friendly restaurants in the area. This is a good alternative to the Redding Roadhouse, which has undergone a less than successful overhaul. read more

Just meh. Ambience nice but service and food a little off. Interaction with waitstaff was oddly uncomfortable. She kept showing up at the wrong time, was visibly self conscious which was off putting and even commented on my husband's eating. Water service was excellent. 9 visits to the table in one hour. Bus boy constantly blowing on the fire to stoke it - 3-4 times during our meal (I was flashing back to survivor episode afraid he was going to pass out). I think a pressed log would be a good idea. Food - nachos with cheese whiz - seriously. Dinner portions huge. Would be better to cut portion in half and price by a third. Enough meatloaf to serve 3. All meat was strangely sweet not bad per se but a little strange. Was true of Chili, pork (ok supposed to be) hamburger, meatloaf and shepherds pie. read more

Being a long time Fairfield county resident this place has always had all of the bones to be a hit. A good location, good parking, and quintessential New England appeal....well....except the food. We scheduled a small party to try out the new owners. When I got out of the car I was greeted to the smell of ripe septic system. Now I gave them a pass on this one as I know placement of these systems can be tricky, especially with older buildings and maybe it was pumped recently or something. The inside is very nice as stated but it ended there. We ordered some calamari and it may have been the worst I have ever tasted. Soggy and the sauce was very very bad. The meals were all just OK, which would hve been fine if not for the very high price. I would rate the burger a solid 3 or 4. The salads were all meh as well. The wait was ridiculously long to be server and while the waiter was seemingly trying it fell way short. Maybe we just hit them on a bad day but I doubt it. I will try it again if it they get new owners, which if history repeats itself...it will. read more

They did an AMAZING job with the renovation of this very old landmark in Redding and kept that wonderful old New England feeling alive. I've had amazing food from burgers to an unbelievable pork chop that was on special. Very well seasoned and although a very thick cut, was perfectly cooked. My sister's baby shower was held in their event space and I cannot say enough great things about them. The space is beautiful and updated, their food is amazing. They were so accommodating and responsive during the planning of the event and during the shower the waitstaff was friendly and helpful. The guests at the shower kept coming up to me to tell me how impressed they were with the venue, food and service. The shower was perfect and we would absolutely use this space again for future events. They are just great. read more

We have been to the Spinning Wheel on a few occasions, and this establishment has exceeded our expectations every time. The owners and wait staff are attentive and friendly. The food is INCREDIBLE!! The Maple Glazed Brussels Sprouts were the perfect combination of salty and sweet. The dipping sauce for the Portobella fries was ridiculous, and the Bacon Mac & Cheese was one of the best we have had in ages. You have to try their smile bites, but their Goat Cheese & Caramelized Onion pizza is absolute perfection. We took a huge group of my friends there for brunch and everyone's meal was delicious. Where else can you get Flank Steak Benedict?!? We are dying to go back to try more of their menu and enjoy their awesome craft beer selection. This is definitely one of our new favorite restaurants, I wish I could give it more stars! read more

After being in the restaurant business for many years and have a love for food, I tend to be a bit more picky than most. With that being said I was pleasantly surprised with our experience at the "Wheel". After only a few weeks of being opened every thing went quite smooth. Our meals were delicious! The sea bass was done to perfection and the steak was outstanding! We were a party of four sharing nachos (yummy) and the dates wrapped in bacon (tasty/unique) , two had the NY strip steak, two the pistachio crusted sea bass. Portions were more then ample and accompanied by delightful veggies and mashed potatoes. We had Two bottles of wine and of course we finished with dessert! Oh my! Apple crisp and a pecan brownie! The renovations done are paragon, both spacious, and rustic. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of what's to come at the Spinning Wheel. We will definitely be back (often) read more

Just had Breakfast with Santa with our family, and I cannot say enough good things about the experience. The buffet was wonderful -- and appealed to everyone in our group, from toddler through 70! The kids got to decorate gingerbread men cookies, enjoy the hot cocoa bar, complete with whipped cream and sugary treats, but the best past of all was Santa. He is perfect, friendly, and the free picture with the big guy is a wonderful keepsake. If you are looking for something special to do this holiday season that will appeal to all ages, look no further. And one more kudo, to the friendly staff who really went out of their way to please. Was excited to try the restaurant for the first time - and saved the experience for my birthday. Even though we called a week ahead of time and explained my elderly parents would be in tow for my birthday dinner, (so hanging at the bar was not an option), they would not give us a reservation, because there were only four of us. So disappointing, and frankly, amateurish feeling. Restaurants should be about hospitality. Ended up going to the Redding Roadhouse, where we got a same day reservation and they treated us graciously. I hope the Spinning Wheel learns soon that rules should not get in the way of making your customers feel appreciated. read more

The Spinning Wheel, in its several iterations has been a wonderful touchstone for me. Years ago, I held my father's 90th birthday party here. Before that, it was a comforting respite for me and my 4 boyswhen we needed a treat. At those times, the food was reliable, though perhaps a bit bland. For the last two Thanksgivings, we have enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner here as a couple. I can't say enough about the staff--incredibly friendly and accommodating.One of the really gracious owners remembered us from last year, stopped at our table for a chat. We just felt so welcomed all around. Now for the food--I myself am a cook; it takes a bit of courage to eat out on Thanksgiving. I must say that the butternut squash soup was the best I've everhad (including my own)! Last year I had their delicious turkey with all the trimmings, and this years ventured to the pot roast. No disappointment in either one! Everything was cooked perfectly and served in most generous portions. The best part our warm apple crisp--just about the best I've ever had, perfectly spiced and topped with ice cream, as it should be. I think it's daring to eat out on Thanksgiving, after one has been used home cooking for the holidays for so many years--but we came away feeling that we had not missed out on a real Thanksgiving. The good food, the wonderfully caring personnel and the setting were all we could ask for in a Thanksgiving away from home. We will make it a point now to visit the reinvented Spinning Wheel to try some of their other everyday dishes. I have left the space asking "Is this one of the best meals you've every had in a restaurant" blank. I am a "foodie,"have eaten in so many places (including the Ritz in Paris) and have done so much cooking myself--that I hesitate filling this in. Every wonderful place is "one of the best..!" All I can say is that my food and experience at The Spinning Wheel was absolutely wonderful and satisfying!! read more

Yay! Great food, good drinks, fine service just minutes from Easton. We enjoyed cocktails and craft beers at the bar while waiting for our table -- only two weeks in and the place is fully occupied with a 45 minute wait -- and had a very decent meal. Reasonable prices at a cozy, casual, yet sophisticated spot in a lovely country setting. Very pleased to have a great new place in the neighborhood! read more

Second time in to the new spinning wheel...and for the second time we were miserable. Lifeless courses that reminded us (not in a good way) of Williamsburg. The food--dull, boring, and over done. Not only overdone in the sense that these dishes have been done over and over by too many restaurants in the past two centuries. But the dishes at this in particular restaurant are consistently overdone. We gave it a chance; we were underwhelmed. We swore off of it. Then we received a gift certificate...tried again--rare burger--served well done. Returned said burger--served the second time at med well. Staff has no knowledge of beer. Kitchen does not understand temperature. All in all, if we did not have another $40 left on our gift certificate we would not ever be back again. read more

After another establishment closed, we reached out quickly to the newly reopened Spinning Wheel. As a Redding native, I'd heard great reviews from friends and family, but as I am currently living in Philadelphia, I had to wait several weeks after booking the October rehearsal dinner to try it. I could not have been more impressed with both the food and the unbelievable service. My now husband and I enjoy at least one meal at the Spinning Wheel almost every time we visit my family. We mentioned to Chris, the owner that we have spoken with from the very beginning and see every time we go, how wonderful the portabello fries are, and how the bacon wrapped dates were completely out of this world at one of our visits. We could not have been more delighted to see them as a very thoughtful surprise appetizer at the rehearsal dinner!!! The space was absolutely perfect and the rehearsal dinner went beautifully. The meal was wonderful, well orchestrated, and received so many compliments! My mother-in-law convinced the waitress with the tray of portabello fries to stay close so she could enjoy a few extra... they are incredible! While the rehearsal dinner was a dream and so wonderful, it doesn't begin to cover how great the restaurant is. We just enjoyed a lovely brunch (which I had been dying to try) there and I can't wait to dig into another dinner there sometime soon. I couldn't recommend it enough, and the atmosphere is among the most pleasant of any restaurant I've been to. Went to the Christmas Show/Dinner event in a group of 5 people. Immediately after being seated, the waitress came over and informed us that we must provide a credit card that she would hold until the end of the meal. Have never experienced this in a restaurant before and was immediately turned off by this inhospitable, inappropriate policy (and this was after I had already paid a $150 deposit online). After soup had been served, eaten, and cleared away, a basket of bread was brought to each table in the room- but no bread plates were provided. I looked around the room and saw that everyone was eating their bread directly off the tablecloths, or using the saucers from underneath their coffee cups. Next was the entree course; those who had ordered Prime rib were not offered a choice of cooking temperature- everyone just got whatever was put in front of them. And there were no steak knives. The Christmas show was very good; we all enjoyed it very much. But the food service and lack of accommodations leave much to be desired. read more

I finally believe that things do happen for a reason. After our first venue fell through we discovered the Spinning Wheel, which was a true blessing. From the moment we met with Chris at the venue, we knew this was where we were meant to have our wedding. I could not have imagined a more flawless night. Chris made sure the night ran smoothly and was 100% accommodating! The food was excellent and so was the service. The space was absolutely beautiful, and I especially loved the fireplace in the back room. I had heard stories of how stressful wedding planning can be, but Chris made our experience easy, helping with so many aspects of the night. We cannot thank Chris and his team at the Spinning Wheel enough for such an amazing night! Delicious food and attentive service. I had the special steak of the day which was tender, cooked perfectly and large enough to take some home. My house salad was crisp and just the right size. I took the peach cobbler (special of the day) home and enjoyed it for 2 days. I enjoyed the background music and it didn't seem too loud as to disturb table conversations. The dining room is contemporary but still has the essence of an Inn with a large stone fireplace. I liked the fact you could eat modestly (burgers) or go for a whole dinner. Love The Spinning Wheel ! Their patio is great for outdoor dining, and my husband and I like to sit in the bar for drinks and appetizers. You have to try the bacon wrapped dates ! We got married 9 yrs ago there, and are amazed at what these brothers have done to the place ! My sister-in-law was married there last month and everything was so professional, great food done perfect for 100 guest and the service was spot on, best day ever !!!! Three visits, and one takeaway. One acceptable. Two disappointments. One so-so. We pay less for a much fresher salad in New York City at better restaurants. It simply cannot cost more to import fresh produce 60 miles further. The additional tariff for chicken or salmon or.... is not warranted with the quality and size of the salad. And the creativity is just not there. Burger - while I'm not a "burger person" , there are standards. If a restaurant does it properly in order to satisfy the customer they at least toast the bun, if not butter and toast it. The burger to bun ratio is weighted heavily on the cold bready bun side, making the selection a "bust" . And it is obviously not an artisan baked product - it's right out of the supermarket six pack of buns. The quality of the meat was OK. Not stellar, just OK. Takeaway/to go items - when called in and told 30 minutes, and one arrives 30 minutes later, the order should be ready, not questioned and searched for in the kitchen as if it were a puppy that has gone missing and needs a search party. "Are you sure that was your order?" Really? The establishment relies simply on supply and demand. There are too few selections in the Redding market. While the wait staff is polite and really tries to please, it should not take 15 minutes to get a final check. The "inn" would benefit from training their student level staff and paying one or two professionals to mentor the newbies. Go if you must, but the Roadhouse would be a better bet all the way around unless you absolutely have to stay on this side of town. read more

After a year of eagerly waiting for the doors to open, we finally got to the new Spinning Wheel this week. Renovations are beautiful! -- spacious, tasteful, beautifully decorated; lovely flow. But the dining room is VERY loud, with no rugs, drapes or textiles anywhere to absorb the noise. A semi-private alcove in back is like a concert shell, with every laugh and voice amplified across the room. The hostess and wait staff were dressed appropriately but one bus-gal had long hair flying everywhere, a see-through white blouse with a black bra underneath, and seemed very out of place. She sprayed LOTS of windex on the table only two feet away WHILE we were eating (a beginner mistake). The wait for water, bread and our waiter was ten minutes, and there were staff running around everywhere, looking stressed. The onion soup was straight out of a can, with no complexity at all, although the croutons and cheese were perfect. The crab cakes were quite small, mostly bread, very little crab, and NO remoulade! The Cobb salad was huge, but flavorless. All in all, it felt like diner fare and diner staff in a fancy building. Disappointing. read more
