On Saturday the light skinned male bartender said 2 drinks $20, swiped my card for $20, i tipped 6. But, had a pending charge for $22.37, and shows final amount for $28.73. I went 2 weeks ago got 2 drinks was $20 tipped $5 and was charged $25. Why is it different 2 weeks later? Stealing ssa loser. I will be calling AND im reporting it with my bank. I dont give a damn if its $2.73, that's not what he charged nor what my final amount with tip was. Y'all got me SO FCKD UP. read more

The drinks were decent price, the place was a nice size, and the dj...oh that dj was hittin'. I learned that he's there Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after work. So after being all over Houston for Memorial weekend it was finally nice to be at a place where people actually danced & vibed with each other. It's definitely a hole in the wall in the 3rd Ward -- not from Houston but definitely got the run down of the area since my first question was "why is it so dark over here?" LOL. But The Spot reminded of the lounges back home so it felt comforting. You could come dressed however you like long as you keep your head on straight. It doesn't matter how old you are (long as you're an adult) your welcomed in to have a good time. You need to be able to loosing up, don't be bougie! The drinks were the strongest I had had from any bar in Houston which for me is perfect so I had two cranberry juice & tequila glasses + a bottle of water of course. The space is quite small with some seating around the bar & sections along the wall. Ironically, no one seemed claustrophobic like you do in most clubs. However, I will note upon entering you will or at least we were that night hit with a gigantic wave of HEAT. It was so hot I wanted to turn around but once in & a drink in hand I had forgot all about it. If I was to come to Houston again, The Spot would definitely be on my list to come back to. I LOVE a good hole in the wall! This place is a great place to listen to a good DJ and have some drinks. It is an older, more relaxed crowd. If you have a chance, and like a nice fruity drink, ask the bar tender for the drink called Skittles. Great drink that isn't shy about it's alcohol. The dj plays a variety of old school and present day hip hop that keeps the crowd moving constantly. It can get pretty crowded but if you get there early, you can enjoy the dj and move on before it gets too congested. read more

Visited the place after work Friday for HH and parked around the corner and couldn't find closer as the cones blocked all the closers spots. She is very rude and Everytime she comes there I am forced to move in a very rude manner. Even after being there & bringing several paying customers, she has rudely made me get out of my spot on the bar and move. As a paying, regular promoting customer regardless of who she is married to, she shouldn't kick people out of their area because she arrives. Very unprofessional and rude. DJ 50 always rocks the crowd with his music selections, and Britt (the Bartender) will entice you in to taking shots of Don Julio blasters all night...never trust a big butt and a smile. I have two gripes: The restrooms aren't properly attended to. Sometimes they lack toilet paper and/or paper towels, and on busy nights, the floors are always wet. Yuck! I always have fun , but don't expect the upscale experience of many Houston clubs and lounges , this is legit a hole in the wall that you come to , to just have a good time . You don't really need to dress up either , just come as you are trust me you won't be the only one. It's always packed so if you don't like crowds don't come. The Spot is their Spot, the African American Cheers where everybody knows you're name or want to know you're name because they're cool like that. Smells of barbeque beckon you outside to absorb the hefty shots of alcohol you may have consumed by friendly strangers...you may even look out your first time here to make sure you're car is still in its same place because there isn't much parking here-- actually zilch-- only street parking. But the music is on point with classic hip hop and present club jams. Find your comfort zone by the bar, sitting on the side benches people watching, or doing something on the dance floor. It's your world at The Spot. At this point in my life, dressing up to see dudes stand on the wall is so passe. This is a "hole in the wall" place. It's nice, clean, have good cheap drinks, and a nice place to unwind after work. The DJ plays good music, and you can always find a dance partner. Don't expect nothing fancy, so leave your "bourgeois" attitude outside. Dark. Free seating. Casual Urban apparel. Just what you would want in a local joint. Reasonable priced drinks (beers were $3). And the djay was cranking. I didn't know half of the songs but the crowd did. You can tell that you are at a good spot when music you typically don't listen to and can't recognize is played and the crowd gets even hyper! I've tried this spot a couple of times and I like it. It's a cool, very casual, and the restroom is clean (a serious plus). The first time I went was for a party celebrating my Alma Mater's Homecoming and I was seriously overdressed. This ain't the place for pearls and an off white dress. Jeans, and a shirt will do just fine. On both visits I was able to get prompt service from the bar. Prompt bar service goes a long way in this industry. Keep up the good work ya'll. The crowd is primarily African-American men. Woo hoo for the ladies a gentleman caller! There is a DJ that plays the latest and some of the oldies in rap and hip-hop and a little R&B.
