Was driving around looking for a breakfast/lunch Spot. Checked Yelp & this place was just down the road. What a Pleasant surprise. An absolute gem. The staff was genuine and friendly. We ordered the CRO skillet and the Tuna melt. She loved the skillet. Great flavor and just the right size, not too much. The Tuna melt was Spot on! And the Fries were fresh and crisp. The entire vibe of the place was great. They even had live music from Flashbaxx. You couldn't leave without a smile on your face. We'll definitely be back and strongly recommend this Spot for your consideration.

B.E.L.T. Bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato with a basil aioli on the most incredible croissant I have ever had.

I was immediately sold on the live acoustic music on the weekends during brunch hours. Already unmatched for a family sit-down. They have a coffee cup collection of donated mugs that they serve their coffee in. That totally makes me feel like I'm at home. The food was fantastic. We all enjoyed our meals. We ordered the chicken fried steak and gravy, the B.E.L.T. sandwich and the kids breakfast with a waffle. Everything was exceptional. Service was great. Our waitress was very helpful and did a great job.

Cro Skillet. House made sausages and sweet red pepper sauce with crispy potatoes, grilled onions and two eggs over easy. Yum.

What a gem of a place. Delicious and interesting food, live music for brunch and friendly service. We were visiting Cleveland and looking for a brunch spot and found this 'SPOT'. I had the Cro skillet which I highly recommend. House made Hungarian pepper sauce, grilled onions, crispy roasted potatoes and two eggs over easy. Need I say more? Recommend a side of thick sliced marbled rye toast to soak up all the goodness. Blueberry pomegranate mimosa sealed the deal. Hubby had an omelet that he enjoyed. Would recommend trying the house specialties. Lively atmosphere too. Will definitely return.

This place is the SPOT! Cute. Friendly. Fast service. The food is good. Parking is easy. They have a bar for drinks and a wonderful staff who give off a friendly vibe. There is sometimes a line of people but they do their best to turn over tables Fast. It's never been a let down. The artwork changes on the wall is is super Fun to check out!!

The bacon was under cooked and floppy... so sad

Attention Chef Zachary Bond!!! If you look, I reviewed your restaurant a while ago and gave it a great review!! But Everyone with us today said that they would not come back here. And this is why : So we brought someone here to show off a restaurant that we've been to and really loved. It was a bit embarrassing and very, very disappointing! I got the chicken and waffles and it was delicious as usual. Some at my table got breakfast and the bacon was not cooked well. It was definitely not crispy and it was floppy, and the fat was not cooked through. The butter on the toast had a weird water like consistency... And it made the toast wet.... And this butter stuff dripped onto the plate and it wasn't creamy like real butter. It was like water. Yuck. The Service.... I would give it ZERO stars if I could! It was absolutely nonexistent!!! It took forever for them to come and take our order. And then when the food was ready, the server dropped off the food and promptly turned around and walked away!!!! And it wasn't because the restaurant was full. In fact, there were very few tables that had customers. She did not ask if we needed anything or even say hello.. We kept having to wave down a server to get coffee or water or whatever. This is the kind of thing that puts businesses OUT of business! And that makes me sad because we like to support local restaurants and especially a chef that would come all the out to Mentor to use his talents here. But I don't think we will be back.

Excellent dinner! The staff was very friendly! They're open for dinner now. Go there and eat delicious meat!

I've eaten here a couple of times and there are many upsides: strong coffee, fair prices and solid brunch cocktails. We have had better than average service as well, but things can get a little hairy for brunch. It fills up fast. The restaurant itself is clean and nice with different seating options. I took a star for my hubbys egg Benedict. It looked like it was from a mix and was unappetizing from a distance. When I asked about it, he confirmed the let down. Everything else was tasty and two meals + two drinks cost just under $30.

Definitely in 'the spot' for brunch in Mentor! Quick review from me: Tiramisu Pancakes: delicious! Not too sweet, but I wouldn't say tiramisu. SLO skillet: crispy potatoes but soft on in the inside. Lots of flavor! But would recommend not putting the dollop of cream on top. The presentation could be better Would not recommend the cold brew. More like water with a hint of coffee. Great atmosphere (modern and artsy), but bathrooms could be a bit more clean. Waitress was kind but not too attentive. Overall, I would recommend

"Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

The prices were astronomical so my daughter and I just ordered meatballs and potato wedges. I really wanted fish but there was only ONE fish dish on the menu and I didn't like how it was going to be prepared. There's a big disclaimer at the bottom of the menu that says "no substitutions or modifications". Geez, for a $40 fish plate you couldn't have modified it for me?? The meatballs were good, but came out luke warm. The wedges were good. The atmosphere was nice. For 3 meatballs, 5 potato wedges, and a 15% tip (she lost 5% due to not asking us for drinks) our bill came to $45. I *wish* I was joking. We won't be back. I honestly feel like I just got ripped off.

We were in the mood for a good burger and we saw that this place had been voted "Best Burger in…read moreCleveland!" So we figured we'd try it out! If we were not looking for this place specifically, I know we would've driven right past it! It's a standalone little building and the only markings I saw outside was a little sign that said BAR. But it was 2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon and there were several cars in the parking lot, which is a good sign. The inside is really tiny. There's a large U-shaped bar and about six tables. We looked in the menu and opted for their famous Smashburger. It is $14 and comes with fries. It is a double patty cheeseburger. I did not want a burger that big so I opted for just one Patty. They said that was no problem, but the price was still the same. I also got onion rings, which were $3 more. The food came out really fast and you could tell it came right out of the fryer because the french fries were super hot! This place is called a dive bar, and I guess it is - but on a Saturday afternoon, the place was filled with all kinds of people. On one side of us was a family with little kids. On the other side of us was a couple in their 20s. And then the rest of the place was filled with people from every age group. I have to say that the music they play there is fabulous! But back to the food. The burger was seasoned really well! It is a smash burger, but they're still able to make it crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Our server was really good. She did not hover, but she was around to see if you need anything. Depending on the vibe that you're looking for, if you want more of a bar vibe, you should go in the evening, but we were happy to just be in a relaxed little joint with good food. They opened up another Crowley's in Painesville so we will probably have to try that one too.

IMPRESSIVE PLACE…read more Wow, I'm flabbergasted. I had an apartment in Willoughby in the 90s and it wasn't a bar back then. I'll tell you they're open early. I had a wonderful Smashburger for 14 with blue cheese. They open at 11 AM. It's here in downtown Willoughby the historic section. It's attached to an old train car that Marilyn and JFK rode in. Wow. It's very nice to walk in off the dining room which was the old round house for the train. This is an impressive place. I can't believe I've never been, the bartender and owner are fantastic. Owner is a big hockey fan I was talking to him about Derek Sanderson. He's from Boston. Five stars all the way I'll come here every time passing through. Just take the lost nation Road exit & your way back there.

You know...I've always been kind of structured in my reviews. This place is 5 stars because…read moreeverything was perfect that place is 4 stars because this one thing wasn't perfect. I have to rethink that because of this very eatery. The food was good. Not blow me out of the water amazing but certainly tummy filling fare. I had the prime rib and added mushrooms, peppers and onions with a side of au jus. The meat was a bit on the drier side and a little tough. But...onion rings on the side...yes please for these sweet, savory, crispy little rings of greatness. The lettuce wedge salad and crisp, light and satisfying...it just lacked a balsamic glaze to add the need touch of sweetness. And a Spicy Cucumber Martini with a Tajin rim...all you need is one, but you'll want more! Sweet with the sour Tajin jolt was in perfect balance. It is made with jalepeno tequila which I got notes of, but it could have been a bit spicier. So, with the issues, why not a 4 star review, you may ask... It was the service. Hands down the greatest service I have ever had. Our server was at our table to greet us with menus in literal seconds. She was bright, bubbly, and sweet as apple pie. She gave suggestions, hyped the food and drinks. She was efficient and we never lacked for anything. I felt like she was just serving us even though she had a seated area, a bar area, and an outdoor seating space to take care of that was overflowing with people for the holiday weekend with a band! And the set-up of the restaurant itself was just cool, chill and playful. The barn like feel was so inviting and the outdoor option to sit could make it feel like a new place everytime you come! That's why it's a 5 star. Definitely on my visit again and soon list.
