Poor customer relations & responsiveness - getting the Sprinkler Tech to come look at my job was a job in itself, and I was never able to make that happen. I found this vendor on CL and called & emailed at least twice each over several days before finally getting a response, and even then it was like pulling teeth. When I finally spoke to Carlos on the phone I felt like I was an annoyance to him, and I still never got the answers I was looking for. I manage several properties and I have fussy tenants who are particular about scheduling work. I simply wanted to know if Sprinkler Tech is prepared to do the job on the spot if I accept their quote? I also wanted to know if there is a minimum charge for simple jobs like changing out a sprinkler head and checking/resetting the automatic sprinkler system at a residence. I was very straight forward and communicative about what I want both in my calls and emails. I manage 3 properties all needing sprinkler work; from a simple head replacement and system reset, all the way up to a full, new sprinkler system for a large residence. I realize companies are reluctant to come out for small jobs, but I was sure to mention I have other, bigger jobs I'm ready to do now. After over a week of trying to get an appt. I finally got the answers I was looking for - that Carlos would come look at my job for a quote, but would have to call out his crew to do the work at a later time; he also finally revealed they are "at least two weeks out" before they can do the job. Communication with this company is frustrating at best. If he had just told me this at the beginning, it would have saved me SO much time. I'm not a serial complainer, and only Yelp! if something is truly great or a waste of time. Trying to hire the Sprinkler Tech was just a waste of my time. Simple responsiveness and professionalism are all I'm looking for here. Final analysis - don't waste your time, these folks are way too busy to take on new customers - I spent way more time than I wanted to just to make an appointment and get some questions answered - and they still couldn't manage to come see the job despite setting an appointment today. :o( read more

I found Carlos online, and called him because of his awesome reviews. He showed up for the estimate, however when it came time to do the work it seemed like weeks before I could pin him down. He was flakey and when he was going to miss an appointment he didn't call ahead of time. We've called Carlos for help twice now and can't recommend his services enough. He is timely -- we haven't been kept waiting and his prices are affordable and fair. The first time we had a busted sprinkler head in front that was causing quite the mess. It was replaced quickly and has been going strong for over a year now. Then this morning we called him over because the sprinklers in our backyard had stopped working. In about 2 minutes he discovered that something on our potting bench had fallen and disconnected the wire to that zone. Yup-- we're geniuses, the backyard sprinklers were unplugged. When they came out to fix the sprinklers they did a fantastic job going above and beyond what we thought they were going to do. The work was good. I had the exact same experience as other reviewers, however, when it came to scheduling. He rescheduled twice, and both times after I waited for him all day. When he finally showed up to do the work it was so late that they had to finish by flashlight. Then he did not finish the job as promised, and only came back after I called to "remind" him he had not finished the job. Neither he nor his staff offered any expression of apology for canceling or arriving late. In sum, I would say expect to be frustrated by scheduling problems, but if you can tolerate that, the work is good. I think The Sprinkler Tech has to be THE BEST service you'll find anywhere for several reasons. 1) Not only was Carlos very professional and personable but so was his crew who did excellent work. How do I know they did excellent work? Since The Sprinkler Tech serviced my residence my water usage is almost half of what it was before!! That's HUGE in times like these!! Carlos clearly identified inefficiencies I had upon meeting and wow did he deliver! 2) Carlos also was very prompt to make a follow up visit when I had questions about my new system, so the customer service is MUCH better than what I've come to expect elsewhere. 3) The Sprinkler Tech was very affordable. I thought I was going to pay a mint but his quote / price was below two other estimates I had previously. In hindsight (considering the quality of work, customer service, and all the money I'm saving on water usage) I would have gladly paid more. *UPDATE* Because of this review, the owner Carlos is now trying to claim we never paid. I didn't think it would be possible for them to more incompetent than they already did, but they proved me wrong! -------- How are they even still in business?? Truly one of the least competent companies I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I hired them to repair my sprinklers specifically because they told me they would be able to come out and fix them sooner than any other company I called. However, when the tech came, he told me he wasn't actually fixing them that day, just giving me a quote. It would be another week before they could actually fix them. My plants were dying, so there went the only reason I hired them. They told me they would come to fix them between 7:30-9:30 am on a Monday. At 9:45 am they still had not shown up, so we called to see where they were. They said they were at another job that they needed to finish from Friday. At no point during the weekend or even early Monday morning had they deemed it necessary to inform me that they would be late. I was told that they would be just a couple hours late. However, they finally showed up sometime after 2 pm after I had been waiting for them for over 6 hours. When they finally left, we found that they had not completely fixed the problem. We tried to get them to come back out to finish the job, but they would not respond. My husband decided to just finish fixing it himself. read more

I made an appointment with Carlos and he was very prompt. The fix took him about five minutes which was kind of embarrassing for me but he was so nice about the whole thing. Carlos came at the appointed day and time to assess the job and told me I'd receive an estimate from Tanya. 4 days later I got the estimate by email and i immediately replied saying I would like to have the work done ASAP. I heard nothing for 2 days so I emailed once again. Nothing. No reply, no call... Just nothing. So I called the office and could not get through to a live person so finally left a message. I hired them to fix a leak in my sprinkler system. They fixed the leak but broke the connections between my sprinkler valves and my automagic timer. I asked them to return to re-establish the connections they broke or dislodged. After responding 2 days later, they said they can have the technician return in another two days. The technician was a no show and no one call to reschedule. I called their office and basically got Vinnie Barbarino on the phone, who, what, where. U know the BS you get when the check cleared and business does follow up on their work. He eventually said that he is scheduling the technician to return in another 3 days. I have no reason to believe him. Lucky for me my friend fixed the connections. My neighbors are asking around for a reliable competent sprinkler repair service. I will tell my neighbors that I wouldn't use this service again. Had them do some rehab on our home sprinkler system and the experience has been mixed. The first time it was through Carlos and the job was done on-time and for a fair price. Unfortunately, we've had some problems with the sprinklers since then and getting them to fix the system has been frustrating. They seem to have gotten bigger and you can no longer talk to Carlos directly. And now they've instituted a minimum fee for the crew to come out for a job. Sent an email describing service needed and contact info. Followed up with a phone call. Left a message. A very professional woman called back asking how she could help. I explained my situation and that I had also sent an email with all my contact info and other details. She simply wanted me to repeat all my details and not look for the email. She sent Carlos out, the owner I believe. He seemed to know what he was talking about but also could seem to care less about fixing, upgrading, the system I have know. Both my landscape architect and I spoke with him and Carlos kept saying he had all the information he needed, when we knew he didn't, and he would get back to us with quotes as he had to look up prices. He could not even tell me roughly how much a pressure regulator valve would be (for the sprinkler system), something I would think he would know even a price range for this item. He said he would in touch later that day or by the next day with a quote or two. Before he left he said he had my contact info and I even gave him a business card with such info on it. This was two and a 1/2 days ago and I have never heard from him. Not sure what his deal was but it was clear almost from the moment he arrived he did not want the job and did not want to stay to hear the details of what we thought we needed or discuss the job. I would NOT recommend him. Addendum- Carlos' response is only partially correct. I guess it hurts when people hear the truth. I actually have witnesses to when and how long Carlos was here as well as his lack of follow up because I had a friend staying with me during that time period. read more

I scheduled a regulator replacement, with Carlos, for my irrigation system. Carlos came out, said he knew exactly what I needed, that he had done hundreds of them. He quoted me and we set up an appt to fix the problem which was out more than a week. He called me, twice canceling and rescheduling me to later dates. I agreed although I was anxious for the repair since I've been hand watering both yards for over a month, which i had told him. Finally, on the 3rd rescheduled date, he was to come out between 9 and 11 AM. At noon I called to see where he was, no answer. Asked for a call back. Never received one. Called several times, leaving messages for call backs. At 4PM one of his guys showed up asking what the problem was and without the part that is needed to repair. He told me that Carlos had texted him my number and address only, without any explanation about what he was supposed to do. Then the guy said he was "off the clock" soon and wouldn't be able to do the work today. Judge for yourselves! read more
