We feel incredibly lucky to have found this daycare and cannot say enough wonderful things about the care our family has received over the years. Both of our children attended here, and it truly became a second home for them. From the very beginning, they were loved, cared for, supported, and treated with so much patience and kindness. There are no words for how much I love The Sprout House aka Laura and Adam. We have been there for a total of 5.5 years with two of our youngest children who attended for their entire preschool experience. If I could send all of my children forever, I would! I have never been concerned with their safety, their health, or their happiness while attending. The program is structured more as a preschool vs just a daycare. The kids learn, play and feel very attended to. My kids have always talked about Ms. Laura and Mr. Adam, along with all the friends. I could not recommend The Sprout House any more!! read more

Our daughter attended for a year and it was an amazing experience. She was always happy to go and came home telling us about her friends and the all the activities she got to do. Laura and Adam were super helpful working with us on potty training and were very accommodating of any additional needs we had. My daughter started at SH when she was 2.5 yo and graduated when she was ready to go to UTK. During her time, she has grown and learned so much as well as making a lot of friends. SH is outstanding and very different from other home daycares in the SD area while still being affordable. Laura and Adam are excellent teachers. Laura always prepares weekly lessons for class, with some weeks learning about the rainforest, castles & knights, the 5 senses and feelings etc. The kids would also have craft projects for each week based on the topic of the week. Each month, my daughter also learned a new letter and how to write it. There are so many more... One of the highlights for my daughter is friendships. She made her first best friend there and all the other kids and their parents are super nice and open as well. We could easily talk to other parents during the pickup and chat about their experiences. The kids went to each other's birthday parties and shared many experiences. I am very happy with my daughter's time here and would strongly recommend SH to other parents. read more

I can't say enough good things about the Sprout House! My son is "graduating" after 2 years there, and my daughter is just starting out. Laura and Adam (and Ms. Martha!) are so welcoming and kind, and it's amazing seeing all that my son has learned since starting there as a shy 2 year old. The Sprout House is an amazing place for your child to go to preschool. My son went there from 3-5 & absolutely loved it. Adam & Laura do such a great job with the students. They have a wonderful bonus room attached to their home where they do most of the classroom activities. They also have a big backyard for the kids to play on the playground, practice their soccer shots, Ride bikes, & explore. I highly recommend The Sprout House to any families that are looking for a clean, safe, fun, loving environment for their little one. We are so grateful we found Adam & Laura. The Sprout House has been a true gift to our family. My daughter began at 2 years old and will be moving on to kindergarten in a few weeks. I can't find the words to accurately represent my gratitude and love for Laura and Adam. As my daughter calls her - Miss Laura - is an absolute gem. I had written a very positive review of the child care provided at The Sprout House a little over a year ago, but now with a heavy heart, I must update my experience. Our son was under the care of Adam and Laura (owner's of The Sprout House) for almost 2.5 years. We were pretty happy with the care there, Adam and Laura seemed to be very patient with the kids overall and gave us a sense of community - not business - during our tenure there. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, The Sprout House decided to stay open - such that they were providing childcare to the children of essential workers only (as dictated by the Governor Newsom). My husband is an oncology nurse and I am a scientist, we are both deemed essential workers. We informed the daycare that my husband would be caring for Covid-19 patients, recently, because we felt it was our duty to be transparent and we wanted to work with the owners and other parents to ensure everyone felt safe. Long story short, we came to an agreement with Adam and Laura only to have them, five days later, send an extremely insulting email and kick our son out of daycare. They were insinuating that we had endangered the children at the daycare and were trying to coerce them into paying reduced tuition! During our conversations, it became evident that Adam and Laura were by far more interested in how the other parents would react to knowing a parent with a child at their daycare, who is a nurse, was treating Covid-19 patients; such that they would lose their source of income. In short, at the end, it became clear that the daycare - which we had felt was really family/community - is just a business. I am crying as I type this because we are moving out of state and my daughter just had her last day at the Sprout House. There are not enough superlatives to describe our experience with this wonderful service place. After two years in the care of Laura and Adam, my daughter has matured beyond our wildest dreams. Every week she brings home a new fun project from a snow man painted wooden plank measured to her exact height, to a 3D recreation of Van Gogh's sunflowers using real sunflower seeds, to a months long series called Children of the World where they study different countries cultures. Along with a varied curriculum there is still plenty of time for fun, dance parties and outdoor play. We will miss them so. 5 stars is not nearly enough. read more

During the Covid-19 pandemic daycares were only allowed to stay open so that they could care for essential workers, like nurses on the front lines fighting the virus. The sprout house however, stayed open for all the kids and continued to collect full tuition from all of them. The responsible parents who kept their kids home were given no refunds to the tuition they had paid. I'm a registered nurse at Kaiser. When Adam and Laura found out that I was taking care of covid patients, they asked me to keep my son home for a whole month and they asked me to pay the full tuition to keep his spot. When me and the parents of some of the other kids at the sprout house voiced our disbelief about these unfair and unsafe practices, they kicked our kids out. Sprout house does not care about the families enrolled there. They don't care about the health and safety have the kids enrolled there. They only care about maintaining their income stream. Only when they received push back from us and realized what they were doing was illegal, did they close down. They say a crisis brings out the true colors of people. When most of the nation is rallying around to support the healthcare workers who are sacrificing themselves to fight this disease, the sprout house was discriminating against them and trying to exploit money from them. Our son has attended the Sprout House for the past 2.5 years and our family couldn't be happier with the experience. He loves going to school every day and has made many friends and learned a ton along the way. It was obvious from the first time we toured that all of the children were (and still are) very happy and polite - a testament to Laura and Adam's style of teaching and care. Laura and Adam are not only fantastic with the kids but have always been great with my wife and I and have always been extremely accommodating to our changing schedules. They even offer reimbursement for 'drop-in's' if you give them enough time to fill the spot - we consider ourselves lucky to be a part of the Sprout House family and look forward to having our 3-month old daughter attend in the future! read more

Childless-me had visions of what a "tiger mom" I was going to be, and how I would never coddle my kid or feel bad when life got hard. Then suddenly I'm a real life adult, with a three year old who cries and clings to me at preschool drop off, and comes home catatonic and not wanting to talk - and I reconsider what coddling actually means. My husband and I had our daughter at a very well-rated Montessori school for a month and something just always seemed off. She wasn't her usual happy self, and she dreaded going. Then, she got jumped on by the dog at school and came home with a scratch on her back. Last straw. We got incredibly lucky when an opening came through at the Sprout House and jumped on it, and three days in, I am SO happy we did. The first day at drop off, our daughter did not shed one tear. She was immediately engaged, and Laura and Adam were so welcoming and warm. Their home is immaculate, and the backyard play area is every kid's dream. When I picked her up the first day, she told me in the car, "I like this new preschool." On day two, she came home and told us it was, "the best preschool ever!" Then this morning at 6:30 am, she woke up and the first thing she said was that she wanted to go to Ms. Laura's house. That's fine, I'm super OK with being #2 in her eyes. If you can get a spot or even on a wait list, I highly recommend the Sprout House. What a load off of our shoulders this has been, knowing our daughter is happy, well-cared for and occupied while we are away at work. I don't worry about her for one second of my day while she is at Sprout House, and that makes it worth every penny. read more

My son was 3.5 when I first took him to Sprout House. I delayed in sending him to any school because we had previously had bad experiences with another preschool in the area. When it comes to Sprout House, you cannot find more loving and caring individuals. My son, who cries when I leave him alone at home with his long-term nanny, does not cry at drop off. He is so happy after going and it is obvious his vocabulary and communication skills are MUCH improved. The way he expresses himself and the questions he asks are so much more advanced than before Sprout House. They are a true educational asset to any child and provide a truly loving environment. If I could give more than 5-stars, I would! My son started The Sprout House around 3 years ago and my daughter has been going for a year now. I am beyond grateful that my kids get to spend their preschool years here. They have both grown so much and I am continuously impressed with how much they are learning. Laura and Adam are the absolute best and they really have created a fun and safe learning environment for the kids that feels like home. I can leave drop-off every morning knowing that my kids are in great hands and are having fun learning, playing and dancing. There is a charming and spacious classroom for the kids to explore and a large play area outside. Another added bonus is that meals are included and I don't need to worry about packing my kids a lunch. Laura is very organized and is always updating the lesson plan, keeping their little minds engaged with lots of hands-on projects and keeping their day structured. I love all of the detailed and creative art projects the kids bring home! The compassion and attention that Laura and Adam have for all of the children is exactly what we were looking for when we chose a preschool for our kids. There has not been a single day that she was hesitant to go to daycare and I can tell how much she's learned and grown during this time. We had a wonderful experience with The Sprout House. Our son spent 6 wonderful months with Adam and Laura. Every morning, our son (18 month old at that time) was super enthusiastic about seeing Adam and playing with his buddies. We are a French couple and Adam made sure that Gabriel was transitioning well to a full English environment. Our son is now at the San Diego French-American School but we miss sending our little Gabriel at The Sprout House. Adam and Laura are extremely communicative regarding scheduling, any new developments with the child, and any questions or concerns a parent may have. I love Sprout House because there is structure and routine to their day- they focus on a specific letter, theme, art project for a week or two at a time. Whenever I drop off or pickup my son, I recognize amazing sensitivity to the children's feelings; Laura and Adam are great at modeling empathy and patience. What an amazing daycare this is! Our two year old son loves coming here and actually asks to go, even on the weekends! Ever since he has been here, we can notice a significant rise in his confidence levels and willingness to try new things. He's more of sensitive child. An observer before he leaps into action. Although this is a good thing, he was not really trying anything new, out of fear, I presume. But now...he loves new experiences and the wonders of the world. The first 3 years are so important as far as development is concerned, this is why we are SOOO happy that we have him enrolled with the Sprout House. Adam and Laura are wonderful, attentive caretakers that notice detail with each child and their unique abilities. Teaching many new things along the way, while also letting 'Play' be a huge focus.
